Netflix's  The Kissing Booth trilogy has finally come to an end with the release of the much anticipated third part of the hugely popular movie , effectively concluding the chronicles of Elle Evans' charmed LA life, next to her best friend and boyfriend who happened to be brothers. Caught perennially between the rules she made with Lee and her affection for Noah, Elle finally chose herself over the boys, and paved her own path in life.

It was refreshing to see that the writers didn't keep the romance front and center of the film, but focused on Elle's own hopes and dreams as well. As always, the movie presented audiences with nuggets of wisdom and some hilarity, mostly in the form of the teenager's personal monologue.

"Standing Here, In Front Of Everyone, I'm Telling You That I Love You."

The 'will they, won't they' between Noah and Elle was the most exciting part of the first movie, and Noah's surprise for Elle may have left him rejected in front of the whole school at prom, but the sincere declaration of love that he made for her was a memorable moment in the saga.

The mock kissing booth at prom was a tribute to the success of the first one that Lee and Elle had thought up of, but Noah decided to show up and tell Elle that he didn't care what others thought, and for once she should also choose what she wanted to do with her life, without thinking about his brother or the rules. He really cared for her and never gave up on their relationship.

“You Can’t Really Hold On To Someone. ‘Cause The Tighter You Hold On To Them, The More They Want To Slip Away.”

This iconic line made an appearance not once, but twice in the movies. In The Kissing Booth 2 , Marco and Elle bonded while Noah was away at college, but Elle spoke to him a lot about her fractured relationship. One night on the beach, Marco made her realize that clinging to somebody just meant that they would go further away from them.

In The Kissing Booth 3 , Marco really tried to win Elle back, but eventually, he took his own advice and let her go, sending her one last voice note with this line to let her know that he was no longer fighting for her.

"I Love You, And I Always, Always Want To Be Close To You. But Being My Best Friend Doesn’t Give You The Right To Tell Me Who I Can Love.”

In the bid to keep her best friend, Elle was losing the love of her life, and much to the relief of audiences, Elle told Lee what everybody wanted to tell him: that he couldn't control her. Being her best friend didn't give Lee the right to forbid her from seeing anyone, especially because Elle was more than supportive of his relationship with Rachel.

It was a big realization for her, and people loved to see her assert herself as an individual who was capable of making her own decisions. In this moment, Elle became a realistic role model for other girls watching the movie.

"In Five Years I Want To Be My Brother’s Joy. I Want To Be My Dad’s Love And My Mom’s Warmth. In Five Years I Want To Be Rachel’s Kindness. I Want To Be Noah’s Courage And His Mom’s Wisdom. But Most Of All, I Want To Be My Best Friend’s Laughter. All Those Things Together Is Who I Want To Be In Five Years."

Nearing the end of her high school years, Elle struggled with what to write in her college application essay in The Kissing Booth 2 . In the end, she chose honesty over fancy words: she just wanted to be the reason behind the happiness of her family and friends. Her selfless nature really shined at the end of the second movie.

She aspired to imbibe the best qualities of those around her, and become a version of herself that they would be proud of. Despite all the gaffes and problems Elle caused, this line reflected the real her.

"When You’re Not Sure Where You Stand, Sometimes A Leap Of Faith Is The Only Move You Can Make."

Noah and Elle's relationship was never an easy one, and things became harder when Noah moved to Harvard in the second movie. Elle's trip to Boston was punctuated with doubt — she suspected Noah of cheating on her with Chloe because she found her earring under his bed.

Fortunately, Elle decided to believe Noah, at least for the time being, when he beseeched her to believe that he was committed to her, and wasn't messing around in college. For somebody as young and impulsive as Elle, this inner monologue was surprisingly mature.

"You're Lucky If You Can Even Get One Really Good Best Friend In Your Life."

The Flynns were like family to Elle, so much so that Mrs. Flynn was basically her "surrogate mother," in Elle's own words. She had helped fill the void of her missing mom by giving her maternal advice on many occasions, and she was there to pick her up after Lee and Noah got into a physical altercation.

Mrs. Flynn reminded her that a small tiff meant nothing to friends as close as Lee and Elle — she used to be very close to Mrs. Evans, and they had their own fair share of disagreements. Most importantly, she made her understand that having a best friend is a privilege that should be protected at all costs.

"There’s Two Things In Life That Are Worth Spending A Little Extra On. First One Is Quality Trash Bags. What’s The Other One? Bacon, Obviously."

In true Lee fashion, he decided to console a dismayed Elle with a quip that would get her out from under her cloud. The stress of balancing her job with her relationship, and also trying to have the 'best summer ever' with her best friend was bringing her down, and she had managed to wreck things with her father's girlfriend too.

While cleaning up after the party and having her trash bag split, Lee helped her with the garbage and gave her some funny sage advice that reminded audiences of the lighthearted relationship the two had shared since childhood.

“I Hope You Don’t Mind How I Addressed This, But It’s How I Feel About You. Your Warmth, Guidance, And Kindness Have Been Some Of The Best Parts Of My Life, And I Cant Begin To Say How Thankful I Am For It.”

As a parting gift to Mrs. Flynn before they sold the beach house that she had grown up with next to Lee and Noah, Elle gave her a framed photo of the three of them to remember them by as they departed for college. With the photo, she wrote a heartfelt letter, acknowledging the support that she had from the matriarch.

Audiences really felt the coming of the end of an era with this quote, with Lee and Elle heading to college and saying their goodbyes to the people who meant the most to them.

“It Turns Out That Sometimes People Do Find Their Way Back To Each Other.”

With the end of high school came the inevitable end of many relationships. Surprisingly, Rachel decided to break up with Lee so that they could each have their respective college experiences without feeling burdened by a relationship. She loved him and hoped that they could meet each other in the future when the timing was right.

After the six year time jump, Rachel and Lee did find their way back to each other, which was something that a grown-up Elle reported somewhat wistfully, and in a moment which was a clear foreshadowing for her own bond with Noah.

“And For Just A Second, I Felt The Same Thill And Rush I Felt The Night I Had My First Kiss. And Then I Saw Him. Again.”

Life came full circle when viewers were shown Lee, Rachel, and Elle hanging out together again in LA and finding out that the school was still using a kissing booth, which was where their story had started. Seeing the familiar stall made Elle nostalgic, and Noah serendipitously walked towards her in that exact moment when she reminisced about their first kiss.

This quote really epitomized the entire story of The Kissing Booth trilogy, and renewed fans' hopes that their favorite romance between Noah and Elle could be rekindled — answering all the questions people had about  The Kissing Booth 3.

Everything you need to know about The Kissing Booth 2 ending

While there’s a lot of focus on the choice between guys, Elle didn’t just have that choice on  The Kissing Booth 2 . She also needed to choose between colleges.

So, which guy and which college did she pick in the end? Could she make up with Lee after he found out about Harvard? Here’s all you need to know about the ending.

Elle’s guy and college debate

The Kissing Booth 2 focused on Elle thinking about college. Her plan has always been to go to Berkeley, which is an excellent college. However, with Noah at Harvard and him asking her to go there, she considered it. She also considered other colleges in Boston.

There’s one problem: cost. Her dad just doesn’t have the money for Harvard, especially when grad school is also on Elle’s mind.

She decides to enter a dance competition for that, which starts of with her and Lee together. When Lee fakes an injury to get himself out of it, Marco joins her. Of course, the two win, so both college options are open to Elle.

Meanwhile, there’s a guy debate.

Elle is interested in Noah. She is hurt to find out that she could be cheating on her, but she’s not thinking of other guys. It’s only when she and Marco start dancing together that the flirtation and chemistry between them begins.

At the dance competition, Elle kisses Marco, which Noah sees. It starts an argument between them, which is how Noah eventually finds out that Elle found Chloe’s earring under Noah’s bed. It’s all innocent, though. Chloe had crashed at Noah’s place without telling him when he was out of town one night.

Marco or Noah?

Elle has to choose between the two guys. She picks Noah after he also wants to be with her.

Meanwhile, Marco is left disappointed. He likes Elle. He’d made a speech about how he wouldn’t let someone go who liked all the same things he did. It looks like he’s not giving up Elle without a fight.

Sure enough, at graduation he comments that Elle is definitely worth it.

Elle and Lee also make up during The Kissing Booth 2 —and so do Lee and Rachel after an initial argument about Elle always being around. Elle loves her best friend, but she wants him to be happy and Rachel make him happy. It’s an excellent friendship that they have. Lee finally realizes that maybe plans do change and they can still be friends by Lee going to Berkeley and Elle possibly going to Harvard.

Which college does Elle pick on  The Kissing Booth 2 ?

Finally, it’s all about the colleges. Elle gets acceptance letters from both colleges, but she says she’s been waitlisted on both. It gives her time to think about her options. Which college will she go to?

We don’t get to find out the answer. We need  The Kissing Booth 3 for that.
