Recently our school organized an educational trip to the Taj Mahal, Agra. The Taj Mahal is the most beautiful monument built in the Mughal period. It is one of the wonders of the world. It was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

This gateway of Taj Mahal is built with the use of Red Sandstone. There is a beautiful garden that begins at the main gateway and ends at the base of the monument. The building is made of pure white marble. It took twenty thousand workmen and twenty years to build. The monument is built on the bank of the river Yamuna.  It was the most beautiful building I had ever seen.

Last Sunday, we went to the Red Fort by a specially hired bus. Along the entrance two rows of shops selling various objects of art besides selling handicrafts. During the Mughal times, this was known as Meena Bazaar. After crossing the lawn, we reached the historic building known as ‘Naubat Khana’. Then we saw ‘Diwan-e-Aam’ or the Hall of Public Audience.

Then we went to the ’Rang Mahal’ which was a place of pleasures and richly inlaid with precious stones in the Mughal period. There is a ‘Khas Mahal’ beside the Rang Mahal. It has a beautiful marble screen. The Red Fort also has the War Memorial Museum where weapons used in the First World War are exhibited. We got to see many historical things that we read in our books. We enjoyed the trip very much.

My dream came true when last month our history teacher arranged a trip to Agra for us. It was 24 October when we reached there. That very afternoon we went to see the famous Taj Mahal. It is a masterpiece of architecture-all in marble. We admired the four more mosques with tall slender minarets and the huge central dome. The surroundings lend beauty to it. The mausoleum stands in the center of a big garden with marble water channels, rows of fountains, and stately cypress trees.

The tombs of Shah Jahan and his wife lie beneath the dome. We went to see the Agra Fort too. When Shah Jahan was confined there, he spent his time gazing at the mausoleum of his creation from his prison window. We saw things that we had read about in our books-the Dewan-i-Am, the Diwan-i-Khas, the Pearl Mosque, and the Shish Mahal. A visit to a place of historical importance does make history real and interesting. It was a wonderful trip.

A visit to a historical place is very educative. It instructs as well as entertains us. I am fond of visiting historical buildings. Last year, I went to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. In the evening, we went to see the Taj Mahal. I had heard a lot about the beauty of the Taj Mahal. But reality surpassed the descriptions that had been given to me.

It is a wonder in marble, a specimen of Mughal art. Taj Mahal was built by Shah Jahan in the sweet memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It was built about three hundred and fifty years ago.  It stands on the right bank of the river Yamuna. The gateway which is made of red stone is very beautiful. The garden is very lovely. The tall dark cypress trees, smooth green lawns, and the beds of flowers are pleasing to the eyes. The fountains flow here and there.

The main building is made of white marble. It stands on a raised platform. At its four corners, there are four stately towers. Inside the tomb, Emperor Shah Jahan and his beloved Mumtaz Mahal lie buried side by side. This monument tells us about the expertise of the artists and craftsmen of that era. The visit to the Taj Mahal was a wonderful experience for us. It was both enjoyable and educational.

Our school had already announced that we were going to see the Taj Mahal. We were elated and were wondering how thrilling, and exciting this experience would be. We had heard and read about it- there was a full chapter in our history book on Taj Mahal, but now we were about to see it for real.

Our principal and teachers had planned for all of us to visit the Taj Mahal on a full moon night. We were told that on the full moon night the monument looks even more glamorous and glorious, and it makes for a splendid spectacle. This added even more excitement to the previous announcement. We would have had to stay awake the whole night but so what? For such a wonderful experience, it was not a big deal.

We were asked to assemble on a Saturday afternoon at the school campus. We were instructed to carry our packed dinner-boxes and water bottles. We were strictly prohibited from buying any eatables there or littering the Taj Garden’s premises. We were warned against buying the souvenirs from the crafty hawkers. These instructions and warnings were repeated to us over and over again. First by our Principal, then by the respective teachers who were in charge of our groups into which we were divided.

We had brought consent from our parents in writing for this trip. From Delhi to Agra, we had to travel by bus, it was around a 5 hours journey. We assembled at the school campus at the given time, and were divided into groups. The teachers took charge of the respective groups, our teacher in charge asked us to stand in a queue, she called out our names from a list that she carried. The items each one of us was carrying were inspected, and then we went ahead to board the buses. 

As we started to move out of the school campus, we all hailed the school with three cheers in a chorus and the journey began. After about 5 hours we were told that we were at The Taj Mahal. The full moon was shining in the sky right above us. The premises seemed like it was filled with the milky hue. We left our buses at a little distance and stepped down. Again, our teachers called out our names from the lists, and we all stood in a straight line. We followed our teacher and walked towards the monument.

After a little while, we were at the main gate of The Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal glowed in the full moonlight in its grandeur. We all felt wonderstruck by the majesty, beauty, and opulence of the dome structure. The moonlit premises added elegance to the mystique. The Taj Mahal resembled a white swan standing still in a sprawling milk lake. The fountains on the campus were bubbling and bursting along the pathway. The fountains were flanked by the green lawns on either side. It was heavily crowded. Men, women, and children were trying to find a way for themselves. There were so many foreigners looking at the monument like they were totally wonderstruck.

We had to ramble to make it to the main platform, took off our shoes at the entrance, and were up on the main platform on which stood the great monument. The four minarets stood like sentinels on the four corners. After about two hours of wandering and rejoicing around the ‘Dream in Marble’, we came down to the lawns to open our dinner packets. Thereafter, it was time to begin our return journey.

A Visit to a Historical Place Short Essay

Last Sunday, I visited the Taj Mahal with my family. It was a dream come true for us to have visited the architectural marvel about which we have heard so much and had read so much in our books. We started feeling proud of our country to have this magnificent form of art.

Our history teacher asked us to assemble at a place and started explaining how the Mughal emperor Shahjahan got this monument built as a mausoleum for his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal. He had stated his desire to be buried by her side after his death. So, there were the two graves inside the mausoleum placed side by side.

We roamed around, kept adoring the astounding beauty, and were amazed at the artistry of the fine carvings. How gifted must those hands be which created that piece of art with so much artistry, we pondered. We looked at the Taj Mahal at one glance and in the second looked at the full moon in the sky. The Taj Mahal looked no less marvellous than the moon in the sky.

River Yamuna flows on the backside of this magnificent monument. It was as if the Yamuna was washing the feet of this marvellous wonder with a full sense of gratitude. For two hours, we went around this monument only rejoicing and wondering.

A Visit to a Historical Place Essay for Class 10, 12, and Graduation Students

The Allahabad Fort was on my trip. Much has changed since then, yet the Allahabad Fort remains. Because of its superior architecture and beauty, Akbar ordered its construction in 1583. Three of the city's main entrances include towers. This is because the Ganga and Yamuna rivers flow east and south. Just like the Agra Fort, this gate has a lot of hefty outworks. Built on the Mughal empire's eastern frontier, this fort symbolised the empire's eastward advance. When Allahabad began, it was a major metropolis.

This caused the fort's roof to collapse, destroying much of its former splendour. Allahabad was originally part of the Magadha Empire, and I instantly recognised the Ashoka pillar. The pillar has an ode to Samudragupta, the Magadha ruler, which I read aloud.

I visited the famed Prayag relic, Patalpuri Temple, one of the oldest remaining pre-Muslim buildings. Close to the arsenal's northern wall sits this shrine. It seems the fort was built to be erected far higher than the temple.

The Akshaya Var tree was again in my path as I continued walking. This tree's wish-fulfilling well is said to be a popular destination for folklore lovers. Akbar stopped it. The Mughal Governor's (Military Commander's) pavilion, however, was  most inviting with Beautiful pillars. They had impeccable taste.

The British decided to demolish a considerable portion of the fort to make place for a school, reducing its beauty. At present, the historic palace is now an arsenal.

Then I went back to Triveni for a swim. I lauded the Ganga's merits after my Allahabad Fort visit. Comparing the old and new forts at Allahabad, it is evident that the old fort at Allahabad is in ruins, while the new fort at Allahabad demonstrates neglect.

Describe a Trip to a Historical Site in Ten Lines

The Principal addressed the assembly, announcing a visit to Agra's Taj Mahal. The students are ecstatic.

The Taj Mahal is immortal. It may have been the beauty concretized in pure white marble. It may have been called a joy forever, but unfortunately in the materialistic world of today, even the beauty of the Taj Mahal is in danger because of the effluent Nitrous oxide and Sulphur dioxide being emitted by the Mathura refinery. Let us hope the scientists are able to find a fix and can save our Taj Mahal.

I visited Qutub Minar with my family last Sunday. Even though we live in Delhi, we had never been to see the minaret from up close. Qutub Minar is among Delhi's most intriguing tourist attractions. We hired a tour guide from the tourist office area located in the premises of the historical monument. While giving us a tour he told us about many interesting historical facts about the monument.

Interesting Facts | Qutub Minar is the world's tallest brick-built minaret, at 72.5 metres high. UNESCO has designated it as a World Heritage Site. This minaret is regarded as the symbol of triumph. Qutub-Ud-In Aibak, a deputy employed by Muhammad of Ghor, began building this minaret in Delhi as a memoir of victory. The building of the Minaret of Jam in Afghanistan served as inspiration for the design of the Qutub Minar. Hence, the Afghani and Indo-Islamic architecture is evident in the design of the minaret. It is regarded as the Delhi Sultanate's emblem.

Architecture | The Qutub Minar features five storeys that are constructed in various timelines and symbolise various historical events. Beautiful balconies extend from each storey, making it a one-of-a-kind minaret. Marble and red sandstone were used to construct the tower. On the northeastern side of qutub minar, Quwwat-ul-Islam Masjid, India's first mosque, was built in 1198. After over 169 years, the lighting-damaged monument underwent renovations and gained two more floors under the reign of the modern Delhi Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlak. He completed the building by adding a dome or cupola to the top. These stories were crafted from white sandstone and marble. In this tower, the colour difference is fairly noticeable. Due to an earthquake that caused the minaret to shake and tumble, this dome is no longer visible. In the British era, Major R. Smith, a member of the British Empire's Royal Engineers, reconstructed the upper section in 1823 using a "Chhatri," or Bengali-style architecture. This upper section is still visible above the fifth storey.

Places We Saw | The interior of the minaret was quite interesting to explore because it had elaborate carvings and lovely patterns that date back more than 900 years. We also saw the minaret's iron pillar which was constructed in the fourth century AD. For 1600 years, the iron pillar stood the test of time. It is almost all wrought iron and hasn't rusted yet.

Our tour guide also took us to visit the tomb of Adham Khan, a minister in Akbar's imperial court, located not far from Qutub Minar. It dates back to the 16th century. Due to the murder of one of Akbar's closest ministers by Adham Khan, the emperor mandated that an octagonal tomb be built rather than a hexagonal one to signify that it is a traitor's tomb. The monument was a large tomb with magnificent archways.

This minaret has a lengthy history, having been built and restored by numerous Indian kings. It is also an illustration of the diverse Indian culture that emerged through several dynasties.I had a great time visiting the Qutub Minar. It was an unforgettable experience that provided us a glimpse of the great heritage of our country.

Fatehpur Sikri is situated near Agra in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It was the capital of the Mughal Empire in the 16th century. To give tribute to the famous Sufi saint Sheikh Salim Chishti, emperor Akbar founded the Fatehpur Sikri from the twin villages of Fatehpur and Sikri in 1569. Jallianwala Bagh is a historical garden near the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab, which was established by the Indian Government in 1951 to commemorate the massacre of Indian protesters by British military troops. It is a site of a sad but defining moment in the freedom struggle of India’s history. On 13th April 1919, following the instruction of Brigadier General R.E.H. Dyer, the British troops did open fire on a large group of unarmed protesters. In this firing, more than ten thousand people were killed, which is also known as the Amritsar Massacre.

Gateway of India: The Gateway of India subsequently played a significant part in India’s history. It is an arc monument built in the 20th century. Presently, it is situated in Mumbai city. It was built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary in 1911. When India attained Independence, the last British troops departed through it in 1948.

Red Fort, also known as Lal Qila, is a historical fort in old Delhi. It was built as a palace by the 5th Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan, as he decided to shift his capital from Agra to Delhi in 1638. The capital was known as Shahjahanabad which is currently present in Old Delhi. The fort represents the Mughal architecture under the Shah Jahan emperor that combines Persianate palace architecture with Indian traditions.

Ajanta Ellora Caves is the largest rock-cut Hindu temple in the world which is carved into hillside rock in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. There are around 100 caves at the site, but only 34 caves are open for public view.

Many other tombs in this garden have been built years for family members, but there are also some other graves in this garden that belong to people from different religious backgrounds.

Lahore is a beautiful city surrounded by hills. It has an eye-pleasing landscape and incredible architecture, including the Badshahi mosque, Wazir Khan Mosque, Shalimar Gardens, Tomb of Jahangir, and Shah Jahan, which are masterpieces of Mughal architecture.

Our stomachs were growling after a long day of running errands. Finally, we got to the park just in time to cool off and take a break. The fresh air, gentle breeze, and our delicious sandwiches made it all worthwhile.

Last year, I had a chance to visit Agra with my uncle’s family. As soon as I got the invitation, I accepted it because Agra has been a great centre for art and architecture from the Mughal period. It goes to Akbar’s credit to transform Agra into a great city of cultural and historical importance. Interestingly, these monuments have the depictions of both Hindu and Islamic cultures and architectures.

History stands testimony that the old brick fort of Sikandar Lodhi was dismantled by Akbar and a magnificent fortress of rust coloured sandstone was built. For the same reason, the ‘Fort of Agra’ is also known as ‘Lai Quila’. This fort was built by Akbar, in AD 1565. It took 8 years to be completed.

The fort is said to have 500 buildings in the style of Bengali and Gujarati architecture. This is what Akbar’s historian Abul Fazal had recorded. But unfortunately only a few survive today and the successors of Akbar too subsequently made a few changes and additions. The fort stands on the banks of the river Yamuna with double walls to protect it. These walls are very high.

The fort has four gates. Presently, the entry to the fort is allowed through the gate in the South of the fort called the Amar Singh Rathore Gate. Just outside the gate is a stone statue of a horse’s head built by Amar Singh Rathore of Jodhpur in remembrance of his faithful horse that had jumped the walls of the fort and lost its legs in order to save its master.

The gate on the West side of the fort is called the Delhi Gate at whose entrance are the famous statues of Jamal and Patta who had laid down their lives fighting for Akbar. The space between the fort and the river was used for holding elephant fights.

Right behind is Akbar’s majestic Palace, the roof and floor of which are made of red stone. The Diwan-e-Aam of the Palace was the place where he held his Darbar and dispensed justice. We also saw the Diwan-e-Khas and the Machhli Bhavan. Close to the Diwan-e-Aam is the Meena Bazaar. To the West is the building which is a very curious kind of a Hide and Seek building.

It is said ithat Akbar was indebted to the blessings of Sufi of Sikri, Sheikh Salim Chishti for the birth of his son. Therefore, in order to show his gratitude, Akbar built and developed Sikri and decided to shift his capital there. The place is 40 km to the South-West of Agra. He named it as Fatehpur Sikri. The buildings at Fatehpur Sikri are outstanding in their carvings.

There is an Ibadat-Khana built for holding discussions on matters of religion. But the crowning glory of the city is the Jama Mosque which can accommodate 10,000 worshippers and is believed to be the replica of the Mosque at Mecca.

It is a monumental example of a mixture of Persian and Indian styles. Inside the Mosque is the tomb of Sheikh Salim Chisti. Right at the entrance of the Mosque is the famous Buland Darwaza which is 41 metres high from the ground level. Other structures to see at Fatehpur Sikri are the Panch Mahal, Jodha Bai’s Palace, the Sunhera Makan and many other buildings.

We went to see the great Taj Mahal on the banks of the river Yamuna. It surely is a ‘wonder of the world’ as it is beyond any description. Its overall architectural brilliance is still a question for modern builders and architects. They get really surprised to see the fullproof plan of the Taj Mahal built at the time when technology was not that much advanced. It’s extra-ordinary beauty also made us utter ‘Waah Taj!’ However, just one thing that pinched me was how recklessly people have ruined this historic beauty. But our government has taken the right step at the right time by relocating the factories far off from the Taj Mahal. It was thus an overall enriching and enlightening experience to visit these places.

It is really a ‘dream in marble’ as thousands of poets have attempted to describe it in many ways. One gets speechless on seeing this great spectacle of marble. It was an extremely mesmerising trip.

Since then Agra and Fatehpur Sikri have become my favourite destination to spend my vacations. I am now eagerly waiting for another chance to visit Agra.

The announcement was made in the school assembly by the Principal that students would be taken to Agra and the announcement sent a wave of joy and elation among all of us. How thrilling would be this experience; how exciting how wonderful. We had heard a lot about the Taj, we had even read about it in our books; we had a full chapter on it in our history book, but now was going to be the occasion to really see with our own eyes what we had thus far only heard about or had read about.

It was so planned by our principal and teachers that we would visit the Taj on the ‘full moon’ night; that makes the great monument look so glorious and so glamorous it makes a splendid spectacle that is what our teachers told us. This planning added even more to our excitement. We may be required to keep awake the whole night but what of that? one night’s sleep to be given up for such a wonderful experience no great sacrifice.

We were required to assemble on Saturday afternoon by 2 p.m. in the school campus. We were asked to carry our dinner packet with us and the water bottle. We were not to buy any eatables there nor to throw out any thing within the campus of the Taj Gardens. We were also strictly warned not to be veered away into purchasing any items as souvenirs by the unscmpulous and crafty hawkers there who roam around to fleece the unwary. All these warnings and instructions were over and over again repeated to us by our principal and then by our teachers in charge of our batches into which we had been divided.

We had told about this trip to our parents at home and they had given their consent happily for this trip. From Delhi to Agra by bus, it was going to be about a five hours journey each side. We were all assembled in the school campus at the appointed hour, were divided into batches the teacher in charge of each batch took charge of his batch, asked us to form ourselves in a line, called up our names for a roll call inspected the items that each one of us was carrying and all this having been done, we were directed to board the buses.

It was excitement all over as it was going to be a great day for us. Only some of us had seen the Taj earlier but none had seen it on a full moon night. That was going to be a real experience.

As the buses moved out of the school campus, we all in a chorus, hailed the school by its name with ‘three cheers’ arid the journey started. We sang aloud the school prayer. Our teachers joined us and then started the session of songs some of our companions sang very well some songs from the popular films and it was all a ‘let- loose’, the atmosphere we were given quite the freedom to indulge in it.

How these five hours passed we hardly could feel we were nearing Agra no we had passed through the roads of Agra and we were told, we were at ‘The Taj’. The full moon shone in the sky. The whole campus seemed as if filled with the milky hue. Splendid was the word that spontaneously came out in one voice from all.

Leaving our buses at a little distance from the main monument we stepped down, our roll call taken and we marched in an orderly manner to our cherished destination, and only after a while we were at the main gate The Taj, th£ dream in white marble glowed in the moonlight in its full splendor. We felt wonderstruck at the beauty, the majesty, and the magnificence of the domed structure. The moonlit campus added glory to glamour the Taj looked like a white swan stood still in a sprawling lake of milk.

There were fountains bubbling and bursting out all along the pathway. Green lawns flanked their sides. Crowds of people, men, women, and children, all jostling to find a way for themselves it was a crowd indeed and so many foreigners so many of them looking at the monument as though completely wonderstruck.

We walked, rather rambled to reach the main platform, took off our shoes as was required, and placed them in charge of the custodian. We were up on the main platform over which stood the great monument. Four minarets on the four comers stood like sentinels.

We roamed around, were astounded at the beauty and artistry of the fine carvings how fine must have been those fingers who with so much artistry created this piece of art. Sometimes we saw towards the Taj and the next moment looked up towards the moon in the sky. The Taj looked no less beautiful than the moon in heaven.

It was for us a dream come true to have come to visit this architectural wonder about which we had heard so much, read so much. Really our country can truly be proud of this piece of art.

On the backside flowed the placid Yamuna, as if with a full sense of gratification in the honor of washing the feet of this wonder of wonders.

For full two hours, we were going round and round this monument only wondering and rejoicing. It was now getting about 10 in the night when we came down to sprawl over the lawns to open our tiffin packets. Thereafter was to start our return journey.

We did reach our buses casting the last lingering looks at the ‘Dream in Marble’ that we had seen. We were back to our homes when the rays of the rising sun were looking from the crevices of the windows.

It shall be a memorable experience for me, rather for us all, never to be erased from our memory.

Last summer, my friends and I sketched out a programme to visit the historical places of Lahore. As we were to set forth from Multan in the scorching heat of summer, we decided to travel by an air-conditioned bus. We packed our luggage, hurried with hysterical haste to the bus station, got on the Bus eagerly at about 10 am and reached Lahore in the twilight. We rented a well-furnished room in a hotel and after a superbly delicious dinner, we enjoyed a deep sleep. Next dawn, we got up with much gusto. We decided to visit the tomb of Jahangir. Straightaway we were ready to start off. In a hired taxi, we reached the elegant tomb in half an hour. The four magnificent minarets of the tomb presented an exquisite view. A high wall and an elegantly decorated big gate guarded the mausoleum of the great emperor. The tomb occupies the heart of a fragrant park. The park was aromatically studded with colourful buds .and blooming flowers. The flowers “fluttering land dancing in the breeze” presented a spectacular sight. The fruit trees were blossoming. Birds perched on the twigs and boughs were twittering. Impressed by the “soft incense hanging upon the bough” and “many incense-bearing trees” I began to sing the beautiful verses of Keats:

“Ah, happy, happy boughs that cannot shed Your leaves, nor ever bid the spring adieu”

In front of the grand tomb, a lovely fountain was sprinkling its light shower. The drizzling of hoary drops of the fountain was producing the resonance of ultimate excellence.

Soon afterwards, we entered the majestic edifice of Mughal Art containing the sepulchre of the emperor. What a life of luxury and opulence he had enjoyed; but now he was lying desolate and deserted in the sheer calm of infinity.

The walls of the room were adorned with oral and mosaic design. There were curious colourful patterns signifying the mystery of death. We offered “Fateha” and prayed to God to be Merciful and Beneficent to the departed soul. As a whole, the building is a marvellous specimen of Muslim architecture, unique and matchless in its beauty and structure.

We came up to the terrace and had a view of Lahore from there. It was a startling sight. The cool breeze, a canopy of silvery clouds over our heads and the prevailing aroma of the blooming flowers made the panorama charismatic that it had a lasting impact on our memory. We spent the rest of our time in eating the meal, drinking tea and making some of the sketches of the floral designs we had just observed in the vest chamber of the tomb. When the brightness of the day faded into the descending dusk, we hesitatingly headed home. Our minds were full of solemn thoughts, We were pondering over the mystery of death. We all agreed with Shakespeare:

“In Nature’s infinite book of secrecy A little I can read”.

In the evening, we packed our belongings and our way home. Our hearts were saturated. It was a picnic of full enjoyment and recreation.

Last year, I went to experience a historical place ( Fatehpur Sikri ) that is located in Agra. Fatehpur Sikri is a town where lakhs of tourists come to see it every year.

I also went to see the place very closely with my family.

2. How did we start?

After Holi, our family members decided to visit one of the historical places in India. At last, they came to the conclusion that they would go to visit Fatehpur Sikri.

About a week after Holi, we all left for Agra by car. Almost after five hours, we reached Agra.

But being late at night, we decided to stay in a hotel. Our hotel was very luxurious and full of facilities. The hotel was very close to the place that we wanted to visit.

When it was morning, all our family members got ready and set out from Agra to Fatehpur Sikri by car.

3. Distance and Time

Actually, the distance from Agra to Fatehpur Sikri is about thirty-six kilometers via the Bikaner-Agra route. It took us about 35 to 40 minutes by car to cover such a distance.

We enjoyed ourselves a lot on the way.

This route was so good that whenever I decide to go to Fatehpur Sikri in the future, I will choose this path only.

4. Why and who built it?

When we reached Fatehpur Sikri, we hired a guide. He told everything about Fatehpur Sikri.

The first thing that we came to know from our guide was that the place was founded by Akbar when he conquered Gujrat.

Moreover, he told us a lot of surprising things about Buland Darwaza that is situated in Fatehpur Sikri.

He told us that it’s the highest gate in the world, it’s a grand specimen of Architecture and Indian art, it was built more than four hundred years ago, etc.

We saw the real palace of Jodha Bai and the court hall. However, the palace was not in good condition but we were amazed to see this.

5. What impressed me the most?

Well, I was very curious to see this place beforehand but when I entered the town, I was surprised because I got to see a lot of excellent buildings there such as Buland Darwaza, Panch Mahal, Salim Chishti’s Dargah, etc.

The building that impressed me the most was the Buland Darwaza.

When I was on the stairs of the Buland Darwaza, I felt that I was in Egypt.

Additionally, I was feeling very proud of Indian workmanship. It literally gave me a glimpse of India’s past glory.

6. Conclusion

At last, I would say that I saw many amazing buildings in Fatehpur Sikri and learnt a lot from those buildings.

But, I was very sad to know that the city was deserted by the same man who built it. So, if you want to see the real architecture of ancient people, you must go there.

There are many historical places in our country and Agra is one of them. Although Agra is known for many things but it’s very illustrious for the Taj Mahal.

Every year lakhs of people come to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal.

One day I asked my family members to visit Agra to see the Taj Mahal. Everyone was very happy hearing this and after about 2 weeks we left for Agar to see the Taj Mahal.

When we reached the place where the Taj Mahal is located, I was astonished for a while because I had never seen such a beautiful place and building.

Since I had already read about the Taj in my books, I was telling my family everything about it such as why and who built it?, construction techniques, used materials, etc.

The view around the Taj Mahal was very spectacular. There were many ornamental trees that adorned the place.

When I saw the real Taj, I didn’t believe that there would have been such architecture even in the olden times. There were a lot of foreigners who were shooting for the Taj and taking pictures. Overall, I enjoyed a lot there. When I came back home, I wished to see it again with my friends.

Historical Place Essay 250 Words or Essay on a Visit to a Historical Place for Class 10 –

One day, our school teachers planned to visit a historical place. After about two weeks, we set out for a historical place that was in Delhi.

When we were heading to Delhi by bus, we decided to visit the Red Fort.

Since we left the school early in the morning, we reached the Red Fort at 3 pm.

Well, many of us had already visited this place but they were wishing to visit it again as they wanted to collect more information under proper guidance.

Since all the history teachers were in the charge of the journey, we didn’t need any guide there. The teachers gathered us at one place and bought tickets for us.

As we entered the Red Fort, we all felt as if we had landed on Mars as the view all around was red which looked great.

Moreover, our history teachers started telling more about the fort.

There were two rows of shops where art and handicraft items were being sold. The place where the shops were located was known as the Meena Bazar in the Mughal time.

After that, we saw many places inside the Red Fort such as Diwan-e-Aam known as the Hall of Public Audience, Rang Mahal, Khas Mahal, War Memorial Museum etc.

When teachers were telling us about these places, we were creating a scenario in our minds so that we could connect things to the Mughal period.

As a result, we all had entered the Mughal period which was giving us great pleasure.

When we came out of the fort, we all went to a restaurant and had a good dinner.

Overall, the experience was great and while returning from there we thought of visiting another historical place with the same teachers.

Qutb-ud-din Aibak was the first ruler in North India and this monument has gotten its name from him. There are lots of verses of Quran in it, mostly written in Arabic. Quwwat-Ul-Islam Masjid, the very first mosque in India is located near Qutub Minar. It has amazing construction and has not been damaged even after 2000 years.  

What I Saw There? I was always loved seeing new places and especially the places are related to our history. Qutub Minar is a really popular monument and related to our history. That’s why I thought to be there. I enjoyed my time there and it was a very fun moment for me. The place was full of tourists and lots of them are foreigners. Introduction: Visiting a historic place is a really wonderful experience for everyone. I prefer traveling and I choose my destinations in really attractive places. And that’s why I like historical places a lot. India is a really big country with numerous options for traveling. A few weeks ago, I was traveling Red Fort in Delhi, I will share my experience with this here.  

A Historical Place in India: Red Fort is one of the oldest and beautiful monuments in India. It was constructed over ten years from 1638 to 1648. Once Shah Jahan moved the capital from Agra to Delhi, in that time they were using this fort as Qila-e-Mubarak. This is the place where the president gives his speech on an independent day. An interesting fact about Red Fort is, it’s actually constructed with white color but in the British ruling time they painted it with Red. There is a place in Red Fort named ‘Rang Mahal’. If you visit this place, you must be there. I loved that beautiful place.

It’s the place where the wives of the Emperor, mistresses, and maids stayed. Actually, I am from Mumbai and I have a wish to visit Red Form from a long time ago. One of my friends Satish was staying in South Delhi, he was asking me to visit his place. I was pretty much free because of my winter vacation and that’s why I decided to visit him and gather some traveling experience. The train journey was pretty enjoyable. I was being on a train for the very first time. I was really excited. I was truly amazed to see the natural beauty of India. I loved it.  

Why Should We Visit Historic Places? We often need to visit historic places. To learn the history will enrich our knowledge and let us understand about our ancestors. Lots of historic places have really amazing beauty to explore. Some of them have so many things to learn from. If we visit such places, we will be able to learn so much about our past culture, music, architect, etc. We need to visit personally and need to inspire others for visiting such amazing places. There are lots of places to see in India. We should start exploring them.  

Conclusion: After all, it was an amazing experience for me to visit a historical place like Red Fort. I learned so much about our ancestors, our history and tradition. I suggest everyone visit such beautiful places for gathering more and more knowledge. It will help you to learn more about your own country. I thought to visit a few more places this year.

A Historical Place that I Visited: A few weeks ago my friend Kamal called me and asked me to spend the summer vacation in his place. I was agreed and left me on a train journey and arrived in Agra. Agra is one of the most beautiful cities in India. And we all know that it’s popular because of the Taj Mahal . Yes, I am going to share my experience of visiting the Taj Mahal. Taj Mahal has a really brief history. It the time of Mughal Emperors, Shah Jahan built it to express his love for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Then it has been named as ‘Taj Mahal’. My intention behind going to Agra was the Taj.

I have never been in this amazing city and never saw this historic place and that’s why I thought not to miss this chance. This beautiful architectural monument is located bank of river Yamuna. It’s one of the biggest rivers in the subcontinent. It is said that more than 20000 workers worked for 20 years to build this building. So you can imagine how big it is. I was surprised to see the artistic design in the wall and doors. It’s pretty much impossible to do in this time. This Taj is one of the best examples of Mughal architecture.  

Things to See There: There are so many things to see in the Taj. I suggest everyone be there in the afternoon. In the time of sunset, the whole scenario is unbelievable beautiful. I just loved the entire scene. It’s dreamy and loving for me. I wish to be here one time as a couple. The most important thing to see in the Taj is its architectural designs. If you understand modern architecture, you will be surprised and amazed at how it that possible to build such an amazing thing at that time.  

How to Go There from Delhi? There are so many easy ways to visit Agra from Delhi. The best way to go there is a train. I went there by train. The main railway station in Agra is Agra Cantonment (AGC). It is better to depart from Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station (NZM), Delhi. In the winter season, the trains are delayed due to fog problem. There are so many trains to go Agra from Delhi. You can also visit with the bus, but I suggest and prefer train due to safety causes. A journey by train is more entertaining than a bus journey.

I really enjoyed the entire journey. I was alone but made few friends on the train who were going into the same destination. I have never been on a train journey often, so it was pretty confusing and hesitating for me. But at the end of the day, the journey was amazing and super.  

Conclusion: A very big number of tourists visit this historic place every day. People from all across the world come to see this symbol of love; they come to make their love stronger with this example of real love.

The Taj Mahal is the most magnificent building in India.  It is called ‘one of the seven wonders of the world.”  It was built by the Moghul Emperor Shah Jahan in the sweet memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal.  Twenty thousand workmen including some European masons worked day and night for twenty years to build it.  It cost the Emperor several crores of rupees.

I had a keen desire to visit this famous building of the world.  At last, the day came when my long-cherished desire turned into reality.  Last year I had an occasion to attend the marriage of a friend of mine.  This gave me a chance to see this masterpiece of artistic design.  As I came close to it, I was struck by its unique structure.  It is a marvel in marble.  We went to the underground room where Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal lie buried.  Our minds went back to the times of Shah Jahan when he built this building at a high cost.

The Taj is surrounded by a cypress garden on three sides. It is situated on the bank of the river Jamuna which lends charm to its beauty.  The surroundings and the garden luster its architecture. The beauty of the Taj beggars description.

In the moonlit night, its glory and splendor become unique.  It is an intoxication and a delight to watch this marvelous feat of workmanship on a full moonlight night. I have seen several buildings but none presents such a glorious view.  It is matchless in beauty.

Some historians have named it “the crown of the world.”  Someone has rightly called it a ‘poem in marble.’  In short, it is a paradise on earth.  It is a thing of beauty and joy forever.  The crimson rays of the sun at the time of sunset, enhance its beauty and glory.

My joy knew no bounds on seeing this wonderful building.  Its memory will always remain fresh in my mind. My knowledge about the Taj is now firsthand.  It is quite different from the second-hand information which I had got from my books.

I also visited some other historical buildings in Agra Fort.  It is a huge building that reminds visitors of the lofty grandeur and the glory of the great Moghul Kings.  I then went to Fatehpur Sikri where I saw the famous Buland Darwaza, the Panch Mahal, and many other buildings. All these magnificent structures made a deep impression on me but there is nothing to match the beauty of the Taj.

I was reminded of the English lady who, on seeing the Taj, had said to her husband,” If you promise to build a monument like the Taj in my memory, I am ready to die right now.”

A Visit To A Historical Place

There are numerous historical places in India very much worthy of a visit. It is important that every student should visit some of them because these are of much educational and historical value. History becomes living and lively when you visit a historical place.

The places of greatest historical value in Delhi and of wide interest to the students and common people alike are the Qutab Minar and the Red Fort. One who has not seen the Qutab Minar and the Red Fort in Delhi cannot be said to have seen Delhi at all.

Last Sunday, the Principal of our school arranged a special trip for the senior students to visit the Red Fort. Many of them had already seen the Red Fort but the Principal desired that they should see it again for better knowledge under proper guidance.

A special bus was hired for the purpose and all students of the class 10th were invited to join the trip. We all reached the school punctually where a special bus was ready to take us to the Red Fort. We reached the Red Fort at ten in the morning and the teacher-in-charge of the trip, who was a teacher of history, bought tickets for all of us. After buying tickets we stepped into the Red Fort. Along the entrance, there were two rows of shops selling fine objects of arts and handicrafts. In the Mughal time, this area was known as the Meena Bazar and here the princesses and the queens of the harem made their purchases.

Then we crossed a lawn and made our way to another gate. Here our tickets were checked. This building is known as “Naubat Khana.” It was the Royal Drum House. Royal musicians used to play musical instruments here in the Mughal times five times a day.

Thereafter we entered “Diwan-e-Aam” or the Hall of Public Audience. It has a marble dais and a marble canopy. Here sat the Mughal Emperor and received the ministers, courtiers, and other people who came to meet him on official or public functions. The Emperor sat under the canopy on his throne. His Prime Minister sat on the dais. In olden and golden days the walls of Diwan-e-Aam were covered with paintings and it was decorated with precious stones. But now these valuable treasures are missing. In those days even the humblest citizen could come to Diwan-e-Aam and present his petition to the King if he had any complaint against anybody.

Beyond the Diwan-e-Aam we passed on to the Rang Mahal. It was a place of pleasure and richly inlaid with precious stones in the Mughal times. In the center of the hall ran a canal of refreshing water and it was known as the Nahar-i-Bahisht. A fountain shaped like a flower played in the middle of the hall.

Beside Rang Mahal there is Khas Mahal. It has a beautiful marble screen. A scale is carved on the screen, indicating rigid justice which ruled supreme during the Mughal times. Then there is Diwan-e-Khas, the Hall of Private Audience where only selected people could meet the King, such as the ministers, the princes, the princesses, and the queens. Here was written the Persian couplet which means:

“If there be paradise on earth,

It is here, it is here, it is here.”

The Red Fort also has the War Memorial Museum, which exhibits weapons of war used in the First World War. Here in Red Fort was the famous Peacock Throne and the Kohinoor diamond which Nadir Shah removed to Iran. The throne was dismantled and broken into pieces. The Kohinoor diamond today is found in the British crown.

Red Fort has now been renovated and it has added to the beauty of the Fort.

A Visit to A Historical Place

In every nook and corner of India, we find a large number of historical buildings. We find the remains of ancient temples and forts all over the country right from Kanya Kumari to Kashmir. The temple of sun worship (Martand) in Kashmir is in ruins which was built in the ninth century AD. Thousands of people visit this temple even today.

I made up my mind to visit the Allahabad Fort. This fort stands even today in UP at Allahabad though much of its glory has faded. This fort was built in 1583 by Akbar and even then it is a much better fort in design and elegance. It is much better than the fort of Agra. It is triangular in shape, because it lies on the confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna. Its red-sandstone walls are as elegant as that of the Agra fort. It has three important gateways which have high-flanking towers. One of these overlooked the Ganga river to the eastern direction and the other overlooked the Yamuna river to the southern direction. The main gate faced the city and has much heavy outwork like that of the Agra Fort. This fort marked the expansion of the Mughal empire to the east and was constructed on its eastern frontier. Allahabad was very important in those days.

Unfortunately, as I entered the fort, I saw that much of the roofed area of the fort had disappeared and its interior was not as beautiful as it was in the earlier times. I found the famous Ashoka pillar standing opposite to the main entrance which shows that once Allahabad was part of the Magadh Empire. I tried to read out the writing on the pillar and on it is engraved the poetic tribute to the glories of Samudragupta, the emperor of Magadh.

I found the Patalpuri temple, which is another famous relic of Prayag. It is one of the oldest buildings of the pre-muslim period. This temple is located near the northern wall of the arsenal in the vicinity of the gate facing the river. The temple appears to be an underground temple because the fort appears to have been constructed in such a way that it was to be raised to further height.

Again I moved forward and found the Akshaya Var tree. It is said that the people used to fling themselves down into the wish-fulfilling well from this tree. Akbar stopped this practice. The most beautiful place was, however, the pavilion which served as the Mughal Governor’s (Military Commander’s) residence. Its pillars are very beautiful to look at. Their design is elegant.

But the glory of the fort has faded much, as the Britishers had dismantled a larger part of it to construct a school. Thus the upper storeys of the main gate were dismantled altogether and the inlay work suffered much on that account. They converted the old palace into an arsenal.

Then I came back to the Triveni and had a bath there. I sang the hymns in the glory of the Ganga after seeing the Allahabad Fort. If we compare the Old Fort at Allahabad to the Red Fort, we shall have to say that the Red Fort has kept its past glory to a great extent even today, whereas the Allahabad Fort presents a spectacle of a fort that lies in a state of ruins though much of it still remains to tell its tale of woeful neglect.

There are many historical buildings in India. The Taj Mahal is perhaps the most worth seeing among them. It is in Agra. Last month I visited my uncle who lives in Agra. It is surrounded by many historical places. I visited almost all of them. But the Taj Mahal impressed me the most.

It is perhaps the seventh wonder of the world in beauty and grace. It was built by Shah Jahan in the sweet memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. It stands on the bank of the river Yamuna. It took twenty years to build this monument. Almost twenty thousand workers worked day and night. People come to see it from all nooks and corners of the world.

It is enclosed by red sandstone. After entering the gate one sees a waterway. The approach to the Taj lies along this waterway. There are four minarets in four corners of the platform. The tomb is built in the central hall of the building. The graves lie below this tomb. There are marble screens around the false graves. To reach the real graves one has to go down the steps. The graves are of Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan. Quranic verses are written on both types of graves-false and real ones. They present marvelous sights.

On a full moon night, the Taj presents a wonderful sight. It looks extremely beautiful. Hundreds of people go to see the Taj on a full moon night. It is also called the ‘Dream in marble’. After staying a few days at my uncle’s house. I returned to Delhi by bus. The memory of the Taj has been inscribed on my mind. It is indelible.

A Visit to The Historic Place

There are many historical buildings in Delhi. One of them is the Red Fort. It is also called the ‘Lal Qila’

People from all parts of India and abroad visit it. It was built by Mughal king Shah Jahan. It is situated on the bank of the Yamuna. In front of it is the famous Chandni Chowk. On the opposite side is the Jama Masjid.

Last week I visited it with my classmates. We bought tickets and entered through the main gate. There were shops on either side. We went to Diwan-e-Aam. Here the king used to hold his court. Then we went to Diwan-e-khas. We also saw Moti Masjid which is a nice mosque. Next, we saw. Takt-e-Taus. There we saw the throne where the king used to sit. It was peacock shaped throne which is not there. The king of Iran has taken it to Iran. The King’s seat is now without the grand peacock.

We saw clothes, pots, guns, spears, and other items of the past in the museum. We also saw swords of the Mughal period. Here we learnt a lot about the history of the Mughal period.

Towards the eastern side, we saw the busy Ring Road. We also saw the baths of the Queen. All the inside walls of the fort were beautifully carved and in them were once jewels. But now they are only cavities. The jewels had been taken out by the invaders. The big gates of the fort present a wonderful and royal sight. From the top of the Red Fort, every year the P.M. of India delivers a speech on the 15th of August. The fort is unique in many ways.

We enjoyed the visit very much. We met groups of people wearing beautiful clothes. We left the fort at seven in the evening.

Town on the Don River; administrative center of the Rostov province of Russia . In 1761, the Rostov fortress and settlement were founded, and the town gained official status in 1796.

By 1811, there were 20 Jewish families living in Rostov, a number that rose successively: in 1836, there were 73 Jews (less than 1% of the population); in 1846, there were 289; and by 1853, Jews numbered approximately 500. In 1820, a Jewish cemetery was established on the left bank of the Temernik River (the site was closed in 1871, later built upon), and Jewish businesses and entrepreneurship played a leading role in the development of trade , industry , banking , and transport . By the end of the 1840s, the Jewish community had a prayer house, and from 1855 a synagogue, on whose site the Main Choral Synagogue was built in 1868. Attached to it were a public library and a school. From 1863 to 1888, the community was led by Fabian O. Gnesin, a rabbi and public figure (father of the composer Mikhail Gnesin). A Jewish hospital was founded in 1881, followed by an almshouse with a prayer house in 1894 (destroyed in the 1990s). In 1888, when Rostov was made part of the Don military region, it was detached from the Pale of Settlement and thus was closed to Jewish residence. However, Jews who had settled there prior to 19 May 1887 were allowed to remain.

At the beginning of the twentieth century, Jewish organizations maintained a children’s shelter, a day nursery, an eating hall, and other charitable institutions. Many of Rostov’s Jewish children attended general schools: in 1883–1885 Jews constituted 34 percent of pupils in the gymnasium (after 1887 within the limits of numerus clausus ). In 1910, Rostov had three Talmud Torahs, a Jewish school for women, and a school attached to the main synagogue.

The Ḥoveve Tsiyon movement was popular in the 1880s, followed at the turn of the century by other Zionist organizations. Among those advocating Zionism was Moisei Aizenshtadt, a figure active in public life who served as crown rabbi of the town from 1889 to 1910. In 1907, the Tse‘ire Tsiyon group opened a library; in 1917, Zionists published the periodical Mir evreistva (World of Jewry); and in 1919 they issued Biulleten’ vremennogo merkaza sionistskoi organizatsii (Bulletin of the Provisional Center of the Zionist Organization).

On 18–20 October 1905, a pogrom raged in Rostov with the participation of Cossack units. More then 150 Jews were murdered, some 500 were wounded, and Jewish shops, stores, warehouses, and mills were damaged. A small Jewish self-defense detachment, organized by the Po‘ale Tsiyon organization, resisted the attackers. Measured by the number of victims, this pogrom was the second largest after that of Odessa in the same year.

During World War I, many Jewish refugees from the battlefront came to Rostov. In 1916, the rebbe of the Lubavitch Hasidic movement, Sholem (Shalom) Dov Ber Shneerson, settled there with his family; in 1920, his son, Yosef Yitsḥak Shneerson, moved the Tomkhe Temimim yeshiva to Rostov. The town remained a center of Lubavitch activity until 1924.

At the beginning of the civil war in 1918, the Jewish industrial and social elite supported the Whites. In 1918–1919, several Jewish organizations were founded, including the Jewish Cultural and Educational Society (which opened a private Jewish gymnasium), the Kultur-lige , the student Zionist organization He-Ḥaver, the Union of Jewish Refugees, and the Relief Society for Jewish Victims of the Civil War.

With the establishment of Soviet authority, the local Evsektsiia in the 1920s promoted the closure of Jewish institutions; it also persecuted Zionist and religious leaders, above all, Yosef Yitsḥak Shneerson. The Tomkhe Temimim yeshiva, initially closed in 1921, survived clandestinely until May 1924, when Yosef Yitsḥak was compelled to move to Leningrad . In the 1920s, nonetheless, a Jewish Third International Club sponsored political education circles and a theater studio; a club with amateur Yiddish agitprop theater was supported by the artisans’ savings and loan society; and there were classes in Yiddish at the school for working youth. Eight synagogues and prayer houses were operating in 1929, but in 1936 only the former Artisans’ synagogue remained (it was blown up in 1942). In the 1930s, however, all Jewish social, cultural, and educational institutions were closed.

In 1939, there were 27,039 Jews living in Rostov (totaling 5.4% of the population). In the summer and fall of 1941 the town was inundated with refugees; about 20,000 Jews were able to evacuate. The German army occupied the town twice, in November 1941 and from July 1942 to February 1943. The Nazis murdered 13,000 Jews on 11 August 1942. A few days later, another 2,000–5,000 Jews in the town and its vicinity were shot to death in the Jewish cemetery (in 1975, a memorial was placed in the Zmievka ravine at the site of the shootings, but the monument failed to mention that the victims were Jews).

After Rostov’s liberation from the Germans, the Jewish community was given use of the building of the former Soldiers’ Synagogue. Shaia-Meier Aronovich served as rabbi from 1944 to 1960. During those years, the Anticosmopolitan Campaign targeted the city’s most prominent Jewish scientific and cultural figures, and approximately one dozen prominent Jewish medical workers were arrested in connection with the Doctors’ Plot .

In 1959, there were 16,341 Jews living in Rostov (2.7% of the population). These numbers fell each decade: in 1970, there were 14,397 (1.8%); in 1979, 12,165 (1.3%); in 1989, 8,272 (0.8%), and in 2002 fewer than 5,000. In the late 1980s, Jewish cultural and religious life began to revive, although it did so against a background of mass emigration that peaked in 1996, when 782 Jews departed. In 1990, the Rostov Association to Aid Jewish Culture (RASEA) was created. In 1991, a secular Sunday school and a religious school, Or Menaḥem, with a kindergarten, were opened; by 1999, it had an enrollment of more than 100 pupils.

In 1993, the community received full ownership of both the former Soldiers’ Synagogue building and the former home of the Shneerson family, where a yeshiva was subsequently opened. In 1997, burials were renewed at the “New” Jewish cemetery (the third in number; it had functioned from 1922 to 1971). The Lubavitch movement established a cultural center. In 1996 the Holocaust Scientific and Educational Center was created. The Joint Distribution Committee , apart from extensive charitable projects, also promoted cultural and educational activities.

Jewish publications have been renewed as well. In 1995–1996, RASEA, supported by the Jewish Agency, issued the Rostovskaia evreiskaia gazeta (five issues), supplemented in 1995 with the information bulletin Rega (three issues). In December 1996 a newspaper, Iakhad (6–7 issues per year), began to appear, and in 1998 the Rostov Jewish Religious Community began publishing the monthly newspaper, Shema‘.
