Long Speech on the Internet

A heartfelt welcome to all of you present. I want to take this opportunity and share a few thoughts with you about the internet.

The ushering of the 21st century has brought about a host of changes, the advent of the internet being one of them. To put it in simpler terms, the internet is a virtual network that allows connections on a global scale by means of the world wide web. The internet has ushered in an era of revolution allowing fast connectivity and a whirlpool of resources and information at one’s disposal. The internet has, in true meaning, made the world smaller on a global scale.

As the new millennium progressed, the internet became an indispensable tool. The ease of finding information, the ability to connect instantly became so ingrained in people that imagining a life without the internet seems nearly impossible these days. The internet has brought about many benefits. With a boom in the technological sector, it has created a host of jobs in various fields. Work which in the pre-internet era would require a significant amount of time could be done within a matter of hours. People nowadays no longer have to wait for days or months to be able to communicate with someone. Facilities such as banking, financial transactions, purchasing, have all been made streamlined owing to the internet.

As seen in recent years, the educational sector has also witnessed a major shift, be it the availability of resources or in delivering information, all due to the use of the internet. The vast repository of information available on the internet has enabled the development of quicker and more efficient learning modules and outcomes. Online learning has become the new norm these days. Moreover, the use of the internet has allowed for a more holistic approach to learning with learners now able to audio-visualize as they gather new knowledge and information. The internet, in short, has become a new learning tool.

We must, however, be aware of the fact that with its many advantages, the internet has also brought about a host of disadvantages. The personal information out there on the internet always remains at the risk of falling into the wrong hands. Cybercrimes are a common occurrence these days, ranging from the hacking of personal records for harming someone in particular to the commitment of major banking frauds.

In my concluding remarks, I would like to say that the internet has become both the boon and bane of our existence. To quote, ‘the internet is a necessary evil’. So it is up to us how we make the most out of it all, ensuring that no other individual is adversely affected because of the same. It also remains our responsibility to safeguard our information to the maximum extent possible and prevent it from being misused in any way. As we make significant strides in the advancement of civilization, it is important that we make use of the internet for the betterment of society as a whole.

Short Speech

Speech on the internet.

A warm welcome to all the esteemed ladies and gentlemen. I would like to share a few words on the topic of the internet.

The Internet has become the grain of our existence in the modern-day world. From studies to pharmaceuticals, to groceries to banking, we have the privilege of having the entire world at our fingertips, thanks to the internet. People across the globe are connected today by means of what is known as the world wide web, or popularly, the internet. Gone are the days when people had to wait for hours, weeks or even months to hear from their beloved ones. With the advent of the internet, we can now connect to someone within a matter of minutes.

The era of the internet ushered in with the dawn of the new millennium. What started with the big metropolitan cities, is not available in even the remotest villages. The internet has brought about a revolution in several industrial sectors. In recent years, the education industry also saw a major shift owing to the prevalence of the internet. However, with everything good going on, the usage of the internet has also brought along the ill effects. Practices such as cybercrimes, online fraudulent activity, hacking, etc. are on the rise. Such has been the extent of the ill-effects of the internet that people had to lose their lives as well.

So, as we move forward with the use of the internet in our day-to-day lives, we must make sure to remain vigilant and safe in order to not fall prey or indulge in any sort of harmful practices. The Internet can prove to be a great boon if used judiciously.

10 Lines Speech

Hello to everyone present. Today, I am going to present a speech on the internet.

The internet, as we all know, is a vast network that connects people across the world. The Internet allows us to have a wide range of information on any topic with just a simple click. In addition to information, the internet also helps us to communicate with people across the world. The internet serves as the connecting point for millions of devices by means of the world wide web. The Internet has proven to be very beneficial in our daily lives. Be it obtaining knowledge or information, purchasing commodities, or making payments, everything has become much simpler with the internet. However, there are also various ill-effects of the internet taking place by means of online fraud, loss of personal information, etc.

To conclude, I would like to say that the internet has both its advantages and disadvantages. It is up to us to make the best of it and use it wisely.

Hello everyone.

Today I am here to present my views on the internet. The Internet today has become a necessity. Only a few years ago, it was a luxury only a few could afford. But with the development of technology, the internet has been made accessible and feasible to everyone in society. With the worldwide web(WWW) being its biggest service, it is now connecting millions of people all over the world. The Internet is one of the crucial inventions of humankind. The development of the internet has led to recent media replacing traditional newspapers and journalism. It has led to instant messaging and video communication replacing postcards and manually written letters.

Traditional cinema has been replaced by OTT platforms serving entertainment at the comfort of one’s house. The Internet has replaced offline stores as well. With all the development that has happened over the years due to the invention of the internet, One cannot simply assume that there are no ill effects of it.

The whole world is connected via the internet. It is a good thing, it also means that quality time with friends and family in person holds less value, and there is no escape from work.

The Internet is addictive, and if there are no proper boundaries for using it, It can cause ill effects on the human mind as well as other areas of life. Lack of sleep is a common problem seen in students today. Social media and the rise of video platforms like youtube have only made it difficult to restrict the use of the internet.

I do want to shed some light on the advantages of the internet. The internet is by far the most amazing invention.

Overflow of Information

The Internet is the sea of abundant information. The information that has been searched for is just one google search away. There is a tonne of resources available for anything that is needed. Be it any query or a recipe or a course of photography, one can always find a solution to the internet.

Education for All

In the era of online learning, not only are the students benefited by the internet, but also the people who do not have the time to attend classes in person. So many housewives have turned to their hobbies by joining online classes, The students can now get viable information on any subject by surfing the internet. The Internet comes in handy when one needs to know things fast, and now. Education is accessible for all now and this is the boon of the internet. Teachers can teach via online portals no matter where they are in the world. They can also upload pre-recorded videos online so that the students can watch them at their convenience. One can learn any skill they wish to learn and the internet has at least one or two resources or courses regarding the same.

Online Services

With the online world dominating the internet, Every domain has come under the influence of it, even the services industry as well. With just one click one can order restaurant-cooked food, buy new clothes and book a spa appointment, and also consult a doctor. This convenience provided by the internet has helped humans do more things and not waste time. The best examples include Flipkart, Amazon, and Zomato. Buying and ordering things online has become easy and accessible to all. Even emails can be delivered with just one click, and money transfers can be done on the computers and one need not visit the bank for it.

Social Media

The one thing that has to be highlighted while talking about the internet is the importance of social media.

Social media’s rapid growth has made us feel connected. We are just one click away from talking to the person staying across the globe. Platforms like Youtube, Instagram, Facebook let you share your story, and ideas over the internet free of cost. They bring forth the creativity of humans.

Online Business

The trend of online businesses is not just a trend anymore, they are replacing the traditional business run from the brick and mortar stores. Every business right now has a website and an online store. It is so convenient to market the business when it has a social media presence. The business can make a name globally and reach more target audiences, and this will in turn help in making profits.

The internet has a lot of advantages and disadvantages. Although, it is upon the user to be cautious, to not overindulge on the internet. For everything is turned into a disadvantage when not done with precautions. Setting healthy boundaries around the usage of the internet can be super beneficial in the long term.

Table of Contents

The topic internet is a very sought after topic to write on, especially when it is to be addressed in relation with the students or the today’s globalizing world. The need of internet arises everywhere – whether it’s an organization, education institute, research centre or any household for that matter. Moreover, teachers often ask their students to write an effective speech on internet citing its advantages and disadvantages and its impact on a growing child. Therefore, in order to cater to the needs of children or adults, if they need to deliver one, we have covered this topic too. In our section, you would find both short speech on internet as well as long speech on internet that are comprehensive and can help serve your purpose. We can confidently say that our speeches are a good reference point for all the learners.

Long and Short Speech on Internet

Speech on internet – sample 1.

Warm Greetings Ladies and Gentleman!

As you know that today’s seminar is conducted to discuss various aspects of internet – the benefits and loss it entails. I, as the host of today’s seminar, welcome you all to this event and sincerely hope to make this seminar a fruitful one for everyone present here by our active participation. However, before we initiate the discuss round, I would like to deliver a brief speech on internet so as to warm up the session for my audience and in the hope to add up to your existing knowledge.

The definition of internet is not same for everyone and entails different meanings for different people. It is mainly because of the fact that it offers a range of applications along with multitudinous opportunities for trade & commerce. In other words, internet is an acronym for the internetwork system, i.e. a network of computers.

Did you know that it is in the year 1969 that the US Defence Department with the help of their Advanced Research Project Agency also called as ARPA developed a system of computer networks through the use of telephone lines and called it ARPANet, which means the seed of internet? The ARPANet enabled the officials to access various military personnel and academicians using their sites situated at multiple places.

Then, with the gradual development in networking technology and the ease of access to a range of information on the ARPANet, the officials connected more and more computers to the source. This way a significant bare minimum mass for the internet was achieved. In the year 1990, ARPANet was brought to an end and the internet itself emerged as the most powerful and overwhelming force for communication to reckon with.

Also, let me share with you a few more basic facts about internet. The architecture of internet consists of 3 basic layers, viz. Internet Backbone, Providers of Internet Service and lastly the end user. The Internet backbones are considered networks with a really high speed connected with each other and he providers of internet services are linked to any of the backbone having transfer lines with a high speed data. The end user more often reaches out to the internet service provider in order to access the internet.

This goes without saying that internet has made everything so easy for us and we can do various things at the same time while being at one place, i.e. right from paying bills to buying merchandizes to finding jobs, etc. It surely saves our lot of time and efforts and enables us to direct our energy in some other work.

Having said that, I would also like to mention that whereas on one hand internet has various advantages to offer, it on the other hand has a major loophole too, i.e. it impacts our health quite a lot. As one continues to work on it every day and there is hardly any physical activity – your body starts breeding diseases thereby affecting your quality of life.

I hope my speech will help you in strengthening your view points and widening your perspectives. Now, you as an audience are requested to put forth your opinion and initiate the discussion phase.

Speech on Internet –Sample 2

Hon’ble Principal, Vice Principal, My Fellow Colleagues and Dear Students – Good Morning all!

As morning assembly has come to a close, our managing committee has decided to select a topic every alternate day and deliver a speech on the same so that our students can become socially more aware and sound. So today the speech topic that has been chosen is Internet and I, your sociology teacher, is going to deliver a speech on the same. Hope you will find it useful and enlightening and you can even question or express your opinion too unhesitatingly in the end.

To begin with, I would like say that internet has evolved as a large-scale system of interconnected network of computers, which utilizes the usual Internet protocol suite (also called as TCP/IP even though not every application makes use of TCP) in order to serve the needs of billions of people globally. It is a wide web of network that comprises millions of public, private, business, academic as well as government networks starting from local to a global platform being connected with a wide array of wireless, electronic and optical networking technologies. No doubt, on internet you can search for an extensive array of information resources as well as services, like the inter-connected hypertext pages on the World Wide Web (WWW) and the infrastructure to maintain email accounts.

As internet has become relatively economical and is of course fast – it is providing significant benefits to the organizations and the students across the world as having an internet connection is quite easy these days. The two most important uses of internet are information and communication. Information can be modified or updated at any point in time and as much as possible, which opens up the scope of better learning and understanding for the masses.

However, unfortunately the today’s generation especially our students have become so addicted to this technology that they are diverting from their educational goals. Whole day chatting with friends, internet surfing, browsing occupies their time and in the end they hardly have any time left for their studies. Even worst, this habit makes them irregular with their studies and they lose their capacity to lead an organized life, due to which the falling grades of those students can be observed. After conducting the research and study about the way students consume internet data and use social networking sites, the experts have opined that the results are certainly not favorable.

Social networks like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc have become the major roadblocks in the way of students’ educational goals. One of the serious drawbacks of this technology is that there is no method to curb it once a student has come to a university level of studies. But schools can still play a major role in guiding the students and helping them realize their value of time and time management skills.

On the flip side, the internet is vast reservoir of information and thus can be used by the students for completing their projects and assignments. On internet, one can certainly find all the possible information or knowledge known to humanity. So easily browse through the internet for the required information and study them whenever the need arises.

Towards the end, I want to say that technology becomes a boon, if used rightfully or else destroy the humanity if used the other way. So make the best use of it and reap the fruits of its benefits.

Now, children you can raise your hands and share your thoughts with us one by one.

Speech on Internet – Sample 3

Good Morning Respected Principal, Respected Teachers and My Dear Students!

Today, this meeting has been organized in our institution for the discussion upon the different aspects of the internet and I, as a manager of this institution, want to say a few words on internet describing its various aspects because it becomes very important these days to learn about the internet. Internet is one of the biggest needs of our today’s lifestyle. The internet is a system of sets of computer networks that communicates using internet protocol (IP) and that use Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) to identify the best path to route those communication.

The origins of internet can be traced back to research commissioned by the United States federal government in the 1960s to build strong and fault-tolerant communication via computer networks. The beginning of the transition to the modern Internet and generated rapid growth as institutional, personal, and mobile computers were connected to the network from the early 1990s. By the late 2000s, the services of the internet had been blended into almost every part of our life. The traditional communication networks and media such as newspapers, paper mail, television etc are getting redefined and replaced by new technologies such as email, digital newspapers, online music, etc.

Print publishing are getting converted into blogging, web feeds and online news aggregators through the adaptation of website technology. There are many new forms of personal interactions by instant messaging, internet forums and social networking websites. The trend of online shopping has grown significantly due to widened range and convenience. Business and financial services on the internet helps in spreading chains among the entire industries around the world.

World-Wide-Web (WWW) is its biggest services. It is used by billions of people all around the world. The software of WWW (World Wide Web) such as Microsoft’s internet explorer/ edge, Mozilla fire fox, opera, apple’s safari and Google chrome provides users the facility to navigate from one web page to another via hyperlinks embedded in the documents. The WWW (World Wide Web) has decentralized the information on an enormous level.

With many advantages, internet has some of its disadvantages also. The internet can be dangerous in some aspects. Sometimes, people use it to spread rumors or other people’s secrets or dangerously bad advice. Sometimes, other strange people can also read your information if it is send through the internet. For instance, Facebook has some problems with its privacy settings. A person can post anything on a website, but this could be a bad idea unless the person is very sure of what he is doing. There is a way to check for a secure website is to make sure that the URL starts with https:// instead of https://. This means that it is secured and other people cannot read the information while it is being sent. In the end it is in our hands whether to use internet in a positive manner or in a negative manner.

At this end, I would like to conclude my speech and I hope that it will help you to understand the different aspects of the internet.

Thank you and I wish you all a great day ahead!

Speech on Internet – Sample 4

Respected Principal, Respected Teachers and My Dear Friends!

I am Nandani of XII standard and I am here today in front of you to deliver a speech on Internet as this assembly is organized for the purpose of spreading awareness among young generation about internet. Internet has become an important part of our today’s life and especially for the young generation. The biggest world-wide communication network today is the internet. The internet is the global system of the set of computer networks that communicate using the internet protocol (IP).

The internet was developed by the “United States Department of Defence Advance Research Projects Agency” (DARPA) which is in the United States. The first ever connection was known as the ARPANET and it was connected on October 1969. The most popular service of the internet is the World Wide Web (WWW) and it was created at CERN in Switzerland in 1990 by a British (UK) man named Tim Berners-Lee. The World Wide Web is the most used service on the internet and it is also known as the “Web”. It contains websites that includes blogs and wikis in it. Everybody can read these web pages and it can be seen by anyone on the internet unless it requires a password.

The internet has no centralized government itself for the technological implementation or for the access and usage. Each and every authorized network has to set its own policy.

In today’s world, internet is used for many purposes such as for sending electronic mails, online chat through many applications, to transfer file from one device to another and we can find infinite information on infinite topics. The most biggest and important use of internet is to send and receive e-mails. E-mail is secure and private and it goes from one user to another. Instant messaging applications or websites such as AIM or ICQ allows more than two people for chat to each other and it is much faster.

Many governments around the world have a bad thinking for internet and thus, block all or a part of it. For instance, the government of the China thinks that Wikipedia is not good and thus many times in this country people cannot read or add something to it. Sometimes, parents block some parts of the internet which are not good for their children to see. Many devices or mostly devices contain a parental control system in it. Many countries have blocked the whole internet usage such as in North Korea and Myanmar.

Some websites are designed to fool people for downloading device damaging viruses or may contain the system through which someone could spy. E-mail can also be dangerous as someone could send harmful viruses etc through an attachment. Many stalkers use internet chat rooms to prey on others. On the internet many websites contains some contents that are might be offensive for many users. Sometimes, on the internet, people got tricked by many fraud people to send them money or personal data.

It just need awareness and a little knowledge to surf safely on internet and we should use it wisely.

On this note, I would like to conclude my speech and hope that it will provide you a clear vision about internet.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Speech on Internet 500 Words In English

Below we have provided a speech on Internet, written in easy and simple words for class 7, 8, 9 and 10 school students.

Good morning to everyone present over here. Today I am here to deliver my speech on the internet. John Stewart has rightly said that “ The internet is just a world passing notes around a classroom.”

The internet has brought the world too close today; the physical distance is no more a real distance between anyone. The internet has made our lives easy & comfortable. Most advances in technologies are attributed to the internet in today’s world. It is one of the most significant inventions which has completely changed the way we live.

Internet is a network facility which helps in sharing information. It was invented 40 years back by Robert E. Kahn and Vint Cerf for sending emails. It has transformed a lot in last with time. We all use internet today, let it be on our mobile phones, computers or laptops for different purposes. Many of us may be using it for office work, learning, some for shopping, playing & many more.

Restaurants, malls, transportation, and banking everywhere the internet is playing a significant role. It is an excellent source of knowledge & valuable resources for learning. The primary entertainment sources for today’s world is internet. Let it be music, song, dance, series or movie everything is available just a click away. We can connect to our loved ones, a thousand kilometres away just by doing a video call. For many internet has become the source of income, people have started earning by writing blogs, etc. The usage of internet is uncountable.

Though internet is an excellent servant, it does have some ill effects. Misuse of information & fraud is increasing day by day. Cybercrimes have become a significant concern which is getting monitored closely. The influence of social media is so hyped among people that people are ready to do anything for getting famous. People are unnecessarily spending time which has created problems in their social lives. Believing internet blindly has become a common practice which has resulted in the circulation of fake news.

We all cannot deny that the internet has become a part of our life. It is not easy to spend a day without the internet. So we all need to maintain the balance between the positive & negative impacts of the internet. Judicious use with proper precautions will prove the internet to be a boon for humanity. Let us join hands & pledge to use the greatest invention of time for transforming the world in the right way.

A very welcome to all of you to the session of discussion on the internet. Internet is not new to anyone us. It was invented 40 years back by Robert E. Kahn and Vint Cerf with its very first use in the United States to send emails. Today there are 3.5 billion users in the world & you are one of them. Talking about the usage of the internet, it has left no fields untouched. Today we can book our travelling tickets online; we need not make a queue. We can shop sitting at home from a variety of options; we need not step out to market.

We can also take the consultation of doctors, which is just a click away. We do not wait anymore to meet our near & dear ones; we connect to them through video calls. Getting bored need not wait for a TV program; we have plenty of options available online. Even today, people are searching for their soulmates on the internet. Even students are nowadays dependent only on online sources for learning. Not only these, internet has completely transformed the life we once lived in. You all will agree that it has made our life simpler & more comfortable for us.

However, we all know that a coin has two sides, one good & bad. Till now, I only highlighted the best part of the internet. Children are spending more time playing online games instead of any physical activities.

All these issues are leading us to a bigger problem. We all being aware of the pros & cons of usage of the internet and must be alert enough to use it in the right way. Speech on Online Classes

Even a few years ago, the concept of online classes wasn’t much heard about, but due to the COVID19 pandemic, every educational institution started online classes to make sure students don’t miss out on their studies. So what would you talk about if you were asked to give a speech on online classes for 1 minute? This article will cover all the key points that you can incorporate into your speech. Let’s have a look at them.

Table of Contents

What do online classes mean.

  • Present and Future of Online Classes

Advantages of Online Classes

Disadvantages of online classes.

  • FAQs on Online Classes Speech

Today, almost every person has heard about online classes. Previously, only very few educational institutions offered online classes for a few courses. Online classes is a term used to refer to those classes which are made accessible over the internet. These classes do not require any individual to be physically present at a particular place (a school or a college); it rather lets students attend classes from wherever they are.

Present and Future of Online Classes?

With the present scenario, online classes hold a promising future in the days to come. With the widespread of COVID19, online classes acted as the best way to continue education without breaking the COVID protocols. The online classes have made sure that no students miss their education. It might so happen that in the future, we all end up attending online classes as well as attending classes in school too.

There are many advantages of online classes. Let us have a look at those.

  • One of the advantages of online classes that prove to be beneficial for schools is that a large number of costs that were previously incurred on electricity or keeping the school premises clean gets saved.
  • A large amount of transportation costs gets saved due to the online classes. Teachers or students who stay away in far off places easily attend online classes just with a press of a button and a stable internet connection.
  • Students who can’t afford high education costs can continue their education via online classes and get the resources they need.
  • Online classes allow students to have access to a large plethora of information as well as great teachers. They can choose their desired course and attend online classes and get to learn as well as obtain certifications for the same.

Even though online classes have a lot of benefits, they have a few disadvantages too. Let’s take a look at those.

  • One of the most common issues that are faced while conducting or attending online classes is network problems. Not all places have an ample number of towers, so people living in interior regions might face connectivity issues.
  • Since students now have much more access to smartphones than usual, they end up spending more time on the phone. A common complaint among most parents is that students have ended up spending hours on their phones.
  • With the facility of attending classes just by sitting at their homes, students have ended up having back and eye problems as a result of sitting in a bad posture and staring at the screen for too long.
  • With the introduction of online classes, students have almost forgotten what it was like in a physical classroom.

Good 2-Minute Speech Topics for Students

The fear of public speaking is something that a lot of people share. It’s usually named as one of the most common fears that people have. Believe it or not, the best way to conquer a fear of public speaking is to just do it—a lot. Because the more you do it, the easier it gets. Eventually, you’ll start to get a little more comfortable and it’s not a problem anymore. Believe it or not, you might actually start to enjoy it. This is one reason why it’s important for children and adolescents to give speeches in school.

In this article:

The 2-Minute Speech

2 minute speech topics

One thing that can help get young children and teens over their initial nervousness is to give them an interesting topic to talk about. Sometimes, it can be something that they genuinely have an interest in and might be excited to give a speech on. Or it can be something funny to help them break through their nervousness.

Topics for young children should be fun, simple, and something they can easily come up with on their own. You don’t want to give them a topic that is too difficult or requires too much preparation. Let’s face it, they’re going to be really nervous. The focus should be learning how to cope with speaking in front of a group comfortably and effectively, not necessarily on the content, subject, or topic.

Topics for teenagers and high school ESL students can be a little more personal or in depth but still needs to be a demonstrative speech, motivational speech, persuasive speech topic, an informative speech topic, or a funny impromptu speech in order to captivate the audience. Depending on the subject of the class where the student is giving the speech, the topic can loosely relate to whatever is being taught. That said, it’s important to remember that teenagers are also going to be nervous—in some cases, very nervous. Perhaps even more so than younger children because teenagers tend to worry more about what other people will think and are very concerned with fitting in.

Choosing the topic is important, especially for a 2-minute speech and will help with student progress. However, there is no point in giving a talk on Donald Trump for a few minutes if you don’t know anything about him. But don’t worry, we have some great ideas.

Speech about Life

Good morning one and all present here. I am standing before you all to share my thoughts through my speech about life. Life is a continuous ongoing process that has to end someday. Life is all about adoring yourself, creating yourself. A quote for you that life can be only understood backward but it must be lived forwards. Life itself is a golden opportunity to live a meaningful life and support others to do so. It doesn’t matter how many years you live. But it matters how well you live a quality life.

Speech about Life

The fear of death always threatens our lives. Every person has to face death sooner or later, but that doesn’t mean that it should discourage us from living life to the fullest or achieving our goals. A person is wise only when he/she is ready to meet destiny when it comes, but until that time enjoys every bit of it. It is a sense of readiness. It is a journey in everyone’s life wherein we have to cross the bridge of death to be able to wake up to a life eternal.

Human life – A very Precious Gift

Human life is truly a very precious gift. Each moment of human life carries us an opportunity, to act to develop and express our virtues. Every moment unlocks the path to us to receive blessings. This is the truth that life gives us both positive and negative situations. What is really important is how we react.

Life is the gift of God in the form of trust that we will make it meaningful in whatever we can. We are all unique individuals. No one is born like you and no one will ever be, so cherish your individuality. Many times, I come across people accusing God of things that they don’t have. They always cursing their lives. But, do they realize that this life itself is precious? If we make it worth living and work hard towards positivity.

Life is a Journey, not a Destination

Life is nothing but a journey with lessons, hardships, heartache and special moments. It will ultimately lead us to our destination, our purpose in life. The road will not always be a plane; in fact, throughout our travels, we will face many challenges.

These challenges will always test our courage, strengths, weaknesses, and faith. Along our way, we may encounter obstacles that will come between the paths and we are destined to take.

In order to be on the right path, we must overcome these obstacles. Sometimes these obstacles are really blessings in disguise, only we don’t understand that at the time. The secret of life is best known to those who are not attached to anything deeply so much.

Therefore, they remain out of touch with worries and shifting fortunes of their lives. They are the people who do not measure their lives in terms of materialistic possessions, but by measuring their lives in terms of people they cannot live without.

Lastly, I will conclude that we should make life worthwhile. It should be with the love of our family and friends that life can be made beautiful. Life can be more beautiful and purposeful by discharging our duties in our family, at work, society and the world at large.

7 of the Most Profound and Famous Short Speeches Ever Heard

There are many famous short speeches that have been a turning point in history. Here is a list of some of the most notable speeches ever.

Famous Short Speeches

Speech is power: Speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel. – Ralph Waldo Emerson This quote brilliantly summarizes the power of a good speech. There is no dearth of famous short speeches that have irrevocably influenced mankind and history.

Although the list may seem endless, and there will always be some or the other disagreement of which of these should figure in the list of popular speeches of all time, given below is a compilation of famous speeches by famous people including former presidents, politicians, a great visionary, and a world-renowned dramatist. These have gone down in history as something that people find relevant and influential even today. It is not necessary for a speech to be long to be famous, even a short one can be great, if it has an ability to mesmerize and inspire the audience. What follows, is a list of some of the most notable short speeches of all time. These were given at historical junctions, and had a significant impact at that time, and hold true even today. As these speeches continue to inspire many, they will go down in the annals of time.

Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Pearl Harbor Address

One of the most famous speeches given by a sitting American President, although it lasted just a little over seven and a half minutes, it managed to stir a nation’s patriotism to the very bone and was a significant point in American history. President Roosevelt gave the famous speech to a joint session of Congress, the day after the Japanese bombing of the Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. An excerpt from the speech is as follows:

December 7th, 1941, a date which will live in infamy… No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might, will win through to absolute victory… I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December 7th, 1941, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese empire.

Ronald Reagan’s Speech Following the Challenger Disaster

American President Ronald Reagan made his famous short speech on national television following the disastrous explosion of the Challenger Space Shuttle. On 26 January, 1986 after only 73 seconds into its flight, the space shuttle broke apart, causing the death of all the seven crew members on board, including a classroom teacher who had been chosen to be the first ever non-astronaut classroom teacher to travel into space. President Reagan spoke of the traumatic accident saying:

Today is a day for mourning and remembering. Nancy and I are pained to the core by the tragedy of the shuttle Challenger. We know we share this pain with all people of our country. This is truly a national loss… Nineteen years ago, almost to the day, we lost three astronauts in a terrible accident on the ground. But we’ve never lost an astronaut in flight. We’ve never had a tragedy like this. And perhaps we’ve forgotten the courage it took for the crew of the shuttle. But they, the Challenger Seven, were aware of the dangers, but overcame them and did their jobs brilliantly. We mourn seven heroes: Michael Smith, Dick Scobee, Judith Resnik, Ronald McNair, Ellison Onizuka, Gregory Jarvis, and Christa McAuliffe. We mourn their loss as a nation together. One of President John F. Kennedy’s most famous speech, was given on 26 June, 1963, to consolidate United States’ support for West Germany a little less than two years after the Communist East Germany erected the Berlin Wall. One of the most famous phrases in history “ Ich bin ein Berliner “, was in fact a last-minute brain child of Kennedy, who came up with the idea of saying it in German, while he was walking up the stairs at the Rathaus (City Hall). It was a great motivational speech for West Berliners, who lived in the constant fear of a possible East German occupation. Given below is an excerpt from this historic speech:

Two thousand years ago the proudest boast was ‘Civis Romanus sum [I am a Roman citizen]’. Today, in the world of freedom, the proudest boast is ‘Ich bin ein Berliner’… All free men, wherever they may live, are citizens of Berlin, and, therefore, as a free man, I take pride in the words ‘Ich bin ein Berliner!’

Bill Clinton’s “I Have Sinned” Speech

The famous, or rather infamous “I have sinned” speech, was delivered by President Bill Clinton at the annual White House prayer breakfast on September 11, 1998, in the presence of several ministers, priests and his wife, First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton. It was hand-written by the President Clinton himself and was delivered on the day of the publication of the first report by Independent Counsel Ken Starr, which threatened to impeach the President Clinton on the grounds of perjury and his sexual affair with former White House intern, Monica Lewinsky.

I agree with those who have said that in my first statement after I testified I was not contrite enough. I don’t think there is a fancy way to say that I have sinned. It is important to me that everybody who has been hurt know that the sorrow I feel is genuine: first and most important, my family; also my friends, my staff, my Cabinet, Monica Lewinsky and her family, and the American people. I have asked all for their forgiveness… But I believe that to be forgiven, more than sorrow is required – at least two more things. First, genuine repentance – a determination to change and to repair breaches of my own making. I have repented. Second, what my bible calls a ”broken spirit”; an understanding that I must have God’s help to be the person that I want to be; a willingness to give the very forgiveness I seek; a renunciation of the pride and the anger which cloud judgment, lead people to excuse and compare and to blame and complain…

Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” Speech

“I have a dream” speech by Martin Luther King Jr., which was delivered on 28 August, 1963 at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom , was a path-breaking moment for the Civil Rights Movement in America. Given to an audience of more than 200,000 people, this speech was ranked as the top American speech by a 1999 poll of scholars.

I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.” I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave-owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a desert state, sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today. I have a dream that one day the state of Alabama, whose governor’s lips are presently dripping with the words of interposition and nullification, will be transformed into a situation where little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls and walk together as sisters and brothers. I have a dream today. I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

William Shakespeare’s Speeches

The Bard has left behind his legacy in ways more than one. Most of the non-political popular speeches have been written by William Shakespeare. While there are many, like Hamlet’s “To be or not to be…”, and Portia’s speech in Merchant of Venice “The quality of mercy is not strain’d…” to name a few, the Bard’s most famous speech till date is the speech by Jaques in “As You Like It”, which goes as…

All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players: They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts, His acts being seven ages. At first the infant, Mewling and puking in the nurse’s arms. And then the whining school-boy, with his satchel And shining morning face, creeping like snail Unwillingly to school. And then the lover, Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad Made to his mistress’ eyebrow. Then a soldier, Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard, Jealous in honour, sudden and quick in quarrel, Seeking the bubble reputation Even in the cannon’s mouth. And then the justice, In fair round belly with good capon lined, With eyes severe and beard of formal cut, Full of wise saws and modern instances; And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts Into the lean and slipper’d pantaloon, With spectacles on nose and pouch on side, His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide For his shrunk shank; and his big manly voice, Turning again toward childish treble, pipes And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all, That ends this strange eventful history, Is second childishness and mere oblivion, Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.

Steve Jobs ‘Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish’ Speech

One of my personal favorites, and a speech that today’s youth identify themselves with, is the Apple CEO Steve Jobs’ commencement speech on 12 June, 2005 at Stanford, which was replete with inspirational quotes. His last words in the address “ Stay hungry, stay foolish ” is one of the most famous quotes and is echoed the world over even today, and spurred on a bestselling book of the same name. It summed up his life in three parts, which he narrated in the form of three stories. This is a small excerpt from this notable short inspirational speech:

I am honored to be with you today at your commencement from one of the finest universities in the world. I never graduated from college. Truth be told, this is the closest I’ve ever gotten to a college graduation. Today I want to tell you three stories from my life. That’s it. No big deal. Just three stories… When I was young, there was an amazing publication called The Whole Earth Catalog, which was one of the bibles of my generation. It was created by a fellow named Stewart Brand not far from here in Menlo Park, and he brought it to life with his poetic touch. This was in the late 1960s’, before personal computers and desktop publishing, so it was all made with typewriters, scissors, and polaroid cameras. It was sort of like Google in paperback form, 35 years before Google came along: it was idealistic, and overflowing with neat tools and great notions.

Stewart and his team put out several issues of The Whole Earth Catalog, and then when it had run its course, they put out a final issue. It was the mid-1970s, and I was your age. On the back cover of their final issue was a photograph of an early morning country road, the kind you might find yourself hitchhiking on if you were so adventurous. Beneath it were the words: “Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.” It was their farewell message as they signed off. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. And I have always wished that for myself. And now, as you graduate to begin anew, I wish that for you.

Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.
