What is the Prototype in Poppy Playtime?

Image of Hadley Vincent

The Prototype is a dark and mysterious entity whose identity has yet to be revealed in Poppy Playtime . Here’s everything you need to know about the main antagonist in the Poppy Playtime episodic adventure.

Poppy Playtime : What is Experiment 1006?

The Playcare in Poppy Playtime: Chapter 3

Experiment 1006 (aka the Prototype ) was the original Playtime Co. creation in Poppy Playtime . Crafted to spread joy to the children who resided inside the Playcare Orphanage, 1006, alongside the future experiments, were tortured to uncover their “valuable secrets.” The Prototype could no longer take the torture of its fellow experiments like Huggy Wuggy and CatNap, so the experiments rebelled against the scientists in a massacre that destroyed the Playcare. This was the Hour of Joy .

The Prototype watches you throughout each chapter. It observes but brings no harm toward you. The only time the Prototype appears is to take parts of damaged monsters like Huggy Wuggy, Mommy Long Legs, and, most recently, CatNap . The Prototype cares about the well-being of its fellow experiments. It has previously saved CatNap’s life after an “accident” to which CatNap goes on to worship the Prototype as a god and complete its bidding.

Mommy Long Legs getting caught in Poppy Playtime Chapter 2

The Prototype takes what remains of defeated monsters in each chapter and is likely adding them to its appearance. In the final Poppy Playtime chapter, the Prototype will likely be an amalgamation of monsters you defeated. Even Mommy Long Legs feared her fate at the end of Chapter 2 with “ WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?! HE’LL MAKE ME PART OF HIM! YOU… CAN’T… DO THIS TO ME !”

With only a giant metal claw to work off, the Prototype’s full body has never been revealed . But the Prototype is seen as the antagonist of the series by characters like Poppy and Ollie. But more on these characters below.

Poppy Playtime : Who is the Prototype?

The Prototype has a main theory around its identity in Poppy Playtime . As it acts as the primary antagonist in this series, many assume the Prototype is actually Elliot Ludwig , the founder of Playtime Co. Both characters are fond of children .

While Ludwig could be extending his life by placing his consciousness inside the Prototype , it is far more likely that the Prototype behaves more like a mimic (similar to the Mimic in Five Nights at Freddy’s ). The Prototype was likely tortured by Ludwig, considering the experiments originated from him. Mimicking his nature (to care for children) and possibly torturous behavior (nefarious acts on the experiments), the Prototype adopted Ludwig’s attitude. Its intelligence grew the more it learned.

Kissy Missy in The Hour of Joy tape for Poppy Playtime Chapter 3

There are inconsistencies with the Ludwig-Prototype theory however. Chapter 3’s nightmare section may be pointing the finger at the unnamed protagonist being Elliot Ludwig instead. We know that the protagonist is a former Playtime Co. employee and that the monsters recognise them. The protagonist also has a link directly to Prototype because of the death screen messages, telling you to “get up” and keep playing. This either points to the protagonist being an experiment like Huggy Wuggy and Mommy Long Legs or that we are playing as Elliot Ludwig.

If the Prototype isn’t Ludwig but is mimicking him, there comes a question of its true identity. As the Prototype is copying and learning, capable of altering its voice, the Prototype is likely Ollie . Ollie is the protagonist’s key ally in Poppy Playtime: Chapter 3 . The name Ollie is also part of the name Elliot (Ludwig). There is no confirmation on this theory , and I imagine more will be discovered with the release of Poppy Playtime: Chapter 4 . So we’ll just have to wait and see who exactly the Prototype is and its true intentions.

The Prototype

It's unknown if The Prototype did indeed make an appearance in Project: Playtime, although it is implied.

The Prototype
— in .
— 's description of the Prototype.

The Prototype (commonly known as Experiment-1006 or as the Claw in his plaque form) is a mysterious entity mentioned within two VHS Tapes . No information is currently known about The Prototype's main appearance or motives, but he is presumed to be the main antagonist of Poppy Playtime .

  • 1 Appearance
  • 2 Personality
  • 3.1 Backstory
  • 3.2 Chapter 2: Fly in a Web
  • 3.3 Project: Playtime
  • 4 Abilities and Anatomy

While his main appearance remains mostly unknown, his arm has been seen. It is a robotic arm with red wires and a hand with long, sharp needle fingers, resembling a claw. He also seems to have a bone attached to his forearm for additional support.

Personality

The Prototype has been described as though he actually wants to commit violence for no reason. He has also been confirmed to "possess an unprecedented level of intelligence", being able to combine basic objects and wreaking havoc around the factory. A scientist explained, in one of the VHS Tapes , that The Prototype had managed to construct a laser pointer from a digital alarm clock in his cell and tried to escape by using said laser pointer on the camera in his chamber, then hiding in the camera's blind spot whilst the camera was being fixed.

It is theorized that The Prototype takes parts of other toys around the factory and makes them a part of him, most likely to strengthen himself and help him achieve his motives (or to keep them alive), though said motives are currently unknown.

In the Chapter 1 Trailer 's background, flashing messages state that The Prototype 'finds no necessity for sustenance (unlike the others)'. This, coupled with the Scientist 's description from Log 08502 , confirms that The Prototype is highly violent for no apparent reason, at least to the scientists.

As his claw appears immediately to take the torso of Mommy Long Legs after her death, and the door then opens for The Player with no other hostility, it is possible that The Prototype is "helping" The Player progress through the factory in order to use them to kill the other experiments for himself to assimilate. This suggests an uncanny knack for manipulation, planning, prediction, and deception.

Little is known about The Prototype other than he is the 1006th experminet made by Playtime Co. Guessing by his name and the flashing messages from the Chapter 1 Trailer , he is the prime example for "the type of vessel which (we) are trying to create". The Prototype likely had the optimal "vessel" of a living organic experiment, of which he was serviceable as a crucial example for "the others", presumably the other experiments.

The Prototype was kept in his chamber, monitored at all times. However, one day, he created a laser pointer from the digital alarm clock in his room, fired it at the camera and disabled it for 28.3 seconds. Upon which he hid in a blind spot, forcing a surveillance specialist to come in. He tried to escape through the door but was re-locked before he could. He apparently killed the specialist who was trapped inside, as 'one casualty occurred.'

Hearing from the Final Log Tape from Chapter 1, he managed to escape and go missing. On August 8th, 1995, he started a massive massacre/jailbreak, theorized to be called "The Hour of Joy", against the scientists, based on the sounds of screaming, pounding, something running around in the vents, and the cutting off/supposed death of the scientist recording the tape.

  • Chapter 2: Fly in a Web

After Mommy Long Legs was killed by the grinder and her severed torso fell to the ground, The Prototype's claw appeared from under the half-closed door to the left. He reached out and took Mommy 's torso away, dragging it away back under the door. After this, he isn’t seen again. Near the end of the chapter, before Poppy's monologue gets cut off, we hear the sound of an alarm clock going off, implying that the Prototype has captured Poppy.

Project: Playtime

While he doesn’t make a physical appearance, his hands are one of the GrabPack Skins in Project: Playtime . Although, it has been theorized that he is the one that instructs the monsters during their tutorial.

Abilities and Anatomy

  • With the initial release of Chapter 1, players theorized that The Prototype was Huggy Wuggy . That theory was eventually disproved in Chapter 2 , as Huggy Wuggy was referred to as "Experiment 1170" in one of the logs left by the Scientist .
  • It could likely have been taken from those he killed, as when Mommy Long Legs was being crushed to death in the grinder, she screamed that "He'll make her part of him ." This suggests that he's taking parts of toys and humans and making them part of his body.
  • Given how Mommy states it, it is implied that toys are fully aware of what is going on in the factory.
  • From Chapter 1, 'Exp. 1006. Isn't he wonderful?'.
  • From Chapter 2, 'The Prototype has saved us! Isn't he wonderful?'.
  • Another from Chapter 2, 'HE IS LOOSE. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY LOCKDOWN'.
  • This, along with his name, suggests that The Prototype may have been the second successful living organic experiment (the first being Poppy Playtime ).
  • In Project: Playtime , a mysterious voice instructs Huggy Wuggy on what he needs to do to stop the survivors. Judging by it's tone and mannerisms as well as the use of the arch words "Get Up", it is heavily implied that this voice belongs to The Prototype.
  • The appearance of this claw may be a reference to the hand of the Other Mother from the movie Coraline. [1]
  • This was backed up by one of the VHS tapes in Chapter 1 saying: "Coordination and cooperation is in his skillset."
  • It is also speculated that The Prototype is Elliot Ludwig , protecting those he had failed by fighting back against Harley Sawyer . [2]

Poppy Playtime Experiment 1006, The Prototype, Who is It

Home » Guides » Poppy Playtime Experiment 1006, The Prototype, Who is It

Fans want to know who is Experiment 1006, The Prototype, in Poppy Playtime . Understandable, considering that it is one of the most intriguing mysteries in the game. Well, based on the information we have so far, we think we can hazard an educated guess. Before we begin, know that there will be SPOILERS from here on out. That’s all the warning you’re getting. Let’s begin.

poppy playtime experiment 1006 the prototype who is it

Who is Experiment 1006 in Poppy Playtime

So, who is Experiment 1006 in Poppy Playtime, also known as The Prototype? Let’s go over the evidence, scarce though it is. First off, in Log 08502, we learn that the creature with the giant, metallic claw arm is extremely intelligent, very violent, and has a predilection towards engineering. We also find out that Huggy Wuggy used to be the very model of obedience. Then, we have the Experiment 1006 VHS Tape, in which we learn that 1006 is very good at coordinating and cooperating, and the “him” that was used to create The Prototype was significant in some way.

Which character in the Poppy Playtime universe checks all these boxes? None other than Elliot Ludwig, the founder of the company. He would be the only person that could order Huggy Wuggy to go on a rampage, he’s clearly a brilliant engineer, and has created a company that puts souls into toys. When it comes to who is The Prototype Experiment 1006 in Poppy Playtime, he is really the only answer so far. He might have wanted to preserve himself, since he was getting up there. I guess we’ll have to wait for Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 to come out and see for sure.

Of course, this is just conjecture on our part. It could be somebody else, someone we haven’t even learned about yet. However, Elliot Ludwing being the source of corruption in the factory would also make dramatic sense. Besides (SPOILERS for FNAF ahead), it would perfectly mirror the story of William Afton, and we all know that Poppy Playtime definitely takes a lot of inspiration from that series.

Pokémon GO Raid Boss Schedule For September 2024

New pokémon tcg collector chest comes with foil card of iconic gen 1 pokémon, every secret world in the sims 4, ranked.

Poppy Playtime Ch. 2 came out months after Poppy Playtime Ch. 1,  and that gap gave players plenty of time to speculate about the lore with the few hints they'd found. With the release of Poppy Playtime Ch. 2 , some of that speculation from players was confirmed. Then, new information from notes and VHS tapes scattered throughout the map gave players more lore to mull over, painting a more sinister picture about what was really happening at Playtime Co. during the prime of its operations.

[Warning: This articles contains spoilers for Poppy Playtime Ch. 2 .]

Poppy Playtime Ch. 2 takes place deeper in the Playtime Co. factory, primarily at a playground where children played as they waited for their turn for the three games that tested their abilities and suitability for experimentation. The player, a former Playtime Co. employee, learns that this area is not as innocent as it first appears, and instead was vital to answering part of the question about how Playtime Co. made humans into toy monsters . The player character originally returned to the Playtime Co. factory to find out what happened to the workers who vanished a decade earlier, and Poppy Playtime Ch. 2 brings with it an abundance of answers and new questions about the fate of those missing employees.

In Poppy Playtime Ch. 2 , players are able to find a new set of VHS tapes and notes that reveal more and more about the unethical research conducted at Playtime Co. on both adults and children. One of the biggest suspicions from Poppy Playtime Ch. 1 was that the missing employees are the toys that antagonize the player in the Playtime Co. factory. Poppy Playtime Ch. 2 confirmed this theory with the chapter's primary antagonist by including a note about Marie Payne, who became Mommy Long Legs . Yet this wasn't the biggest lore reveal to come out of  Poppy Playtime Ch. 2 .

Huggy Wuggy Is Not Experiment 1006 In Poppy Playtime

Huggy-Wuggy-Chase-Scene-Poppy-Playtime

One of the player theories from Poppy Playtime Ch. 1 that was disproved in Poppy Playtime Ch. 2 was that Huggy Wuggy was Experiment 1006, which was said to be violent and rebellious by the Playtime Co. researchers. Huggy Wuggy was actually Experiment 1170, and Experiment 1006 was the claw-like mechanical hand that is also referred to as the Prototype. Not only does the Prototype remain rather mysterious throughout Poppy Playtime Ch. 2 , players are made aware that it is planning something with the toy monsters that have died as evidenced by it coming to drag away part of Mommy Long Legs' body after she was crushed. Mommy Long Legs seemed to be aware of what the Prototype is doing since she screams that he'll make her part of "him" as she's dying.

Poppy Playtime's Name Refers To The Poppy Flower

VHS-Poppy-Flower-Poppy-Playtime

Poppy is not the flower in Poppy Playtime that players are told to seek in the opening of the first chapter. Instead, the message is more literal in meaning, asking the players to find actual poppy flowers. This is shown in the note that players can find in Elliot Ludwig's office that details a failed experiment. Elliot writes about a poppy flower and gelatin mixture, and then in the lower part of the note he mentions that he believes the poppy flower are they key to the experiments, which involve resurrection.

Related: Poppy Playtime Ch. 3 Can Fix The Previous Chapters' Biggest Problem

Poppy Playtime Ch. 2 also reveals some insight into Elliot Ludwig's motivations. Like in the first chapter, finding every  VHS tape in Poppy Playtime Ch. 2 is a good way to find a lot of the lore. One VHS tape includes what seems to be part of a documentary on Elliot Ludwig. The narration of the tape mentions that Elliot lost a loved one and threw himself into his work at Playtime Co. after that death. In combination with the notes about poppy flowers in the experiments, players can reasonably theorize that Elliot conducted these experiments with the end goal of resurrecting his loved one. This goal was so important to him, that he was willing to sacrifice the lives of both his employees and of orphans in experiments - condemning some to live as toys - to accomplish it.

Poppy Playtime Ch. 2 Shows Poppy's Dark Side

Poppy-Doll-In-Her-Case

This is another reveal that players had already been theorizing about. At first, Poppy seems like she's helping the player escape from the Playtime Co. factory by giving them the code to operate the train in the playground area. The player rescues Poppy from Mommy Long Legs, and she repays them by adjusting the train tracks and forcing the player to go deeper into the Playtime Co. factory rather than allow them to leave. In a matter of minutes, the game set up Poppy as an antagonist in Poppy Playtime , but the extent and motivations behind her antagonism have yet to be revealed.

Though it can't be considered canon, Poppy's original dialogue at the end of Poppy Playtime Ch. 2 - which is in the game files - has her say that she's the reason that so many people have died at from Playtime Co.'s experiments. This dialogue may no longer be relevant to the game's story, or it could have been removed in order to be used in a later chapter. Either way, these unused lines bring with them more questions about Poppy's motivations and her identity before she became a doll.

As with the ending of Poppy Playtime Ch. 1 , new theories are already being made based on the lore reveals from the second chapter. From theories about the glimpse of the  Prototype in Poppy Playtime Ch. 2 , to what players will find in the Playcare area, there is no shortage of fuel from Poppy Playtime Ch. 2 for devising new theories and speculating around Playtime Co.'s dark secrets. Though players have learned a lot about Playtime Co. in the first chapters, they seem poised to dive into the heart of the Playtime Co. factory and closer to where the experiments were performed and where the subjects were held. Chapter 3 could instill true horror in players by putting them through the toy monster creation process, which would be deeply unsettling given what information about the process was found in Poppy Playtime Ch. 2 .

Experiment-1006 , better known as The Prototype , is the main antagonist of the Poppy Playtime franchise.

He is a mysterious but incredibly intelligent and dangerous mechanical entity created by Playtime Co. , and is greatly feared by its inhabitants. As the prototype for future experiments of the Bigger Bodies Initiative, hence the name, Experiment-1006 would go on to sabotage the project to prevent the creation of more toys from children and employees.

After using his influence and capabilities to gather enough toys to carry out his bidding, The Prototype orchestrated "the Hour of Joy", an event which lead to most of the toys going on a rampage, in which they massacred nearly all of the staff in Playtime CO., resulting in the company's dissolution and the facility being shut down and abandoned, leaving only The Prototype and the rest of the monstrous toys to reside and wander in the the now-abandoned factory. As of now, The Prototype assimilates and grafts dead toys onto himself for some unknown goal.

He is voiced by Michael Kovach in Project: Playtime , who also voiced the Scientist in the same game, Niles in SMG4 , N in Murder Drones and Rocky Rickaby in Lackadaisy , Jax in The Amazing Digital Circus. In Chapter 3, as he mimics the voices of several characters, he is voiced by Elijah Delaney, Nola Klop, Eric True, Avalon Delaney, Baldwin Williams Jr., Micah Preciado, and Joaquin Augusto.

Appearance [ ]

The true appearance of The Prototype is currently unknown, as he shrouds his body with darkness and in the shadows, though CatNap's altar reveals he has at least a roughly inhuman and amalgamated appearance with 4 spider-like legs and a skull for a head. One of his arms is long and mechanical, consisting of a large claw with a set of five long fingers with several pivots on each. The arm also has human bones and veins attached to it, implying that, aside from other toys, he had made the remains of the humans he had killed a part of him. The Prototype also has been hinted to be gigantic in size, as his arm alone was nearly the length of CatNap’s entire body. 1006 likely has human and toy remains (like Mommy Long Legs and CatNap) strung throughout his body, resembling CatNap's altar.

Personality [ ]

Upon first inspection, The Prototype is wild, ruthless, callous, bloodthirsty, tyrannical and misanthropic man, driven solely by a desire to engage in senseless acts of aggression. Nevertheless, various VHS tapes have provided evidence that this entity possesses an exceptionally high level of intelligence and exhibits strategic thinking. One account narrated by an unidentified Scientist who worked at the factory detailed a remarkable incident in which The Prototype demonstrated his resourcefulness. Confined within a cell, he managed to fashion a laser pointer out of a digital alarm clock and cunningly employed it to manipulate a surveillance camera, facilitating his escape, though it ultimately failed.

In the Chapter 1 trailer, there is a noticeable and attention-grabbing flashing message in the background. This message implies that 1006, unlike the other characters, does not require sustenance to survive. This suggests that The Prototype may engage in acts of killing simply out of a deep-seated enjoyment in causing pain and suffering, rather than any actual need for sustenance.

In Chapter 2, when the Prototype emerges for the first time in a physical form, something peculiar happens. Despite the fact that he has just taken the torn remnants of Mommy Long Legs , a toy known for its aggression towards the protagonist, the Prototype displays no signs of hostility towards the protagonist themselves. This unexpected behavior suggests that the Prototype has been silently observing the protagonist's every move leading up to this moment. It raises the possibility that the Prototype may have undisclosed intentions or hidden motives for encouraging the protagonist to eliminate the other toys.

He shows a strong misanthropical and hatred towards Harley Sawyer and much of the rest of the company for their highly abusive and immoral practices by turning their orphan children into toys to be used for labor, with his hatred of the scientists and their treatment of the children acting as the crux for his motivation of stopping the experiments, however this makes him a hypocrite as the toys he amasses into himself are implied to be in extreme pain, making him no better that the scientists he hates (although this is most likely his way of keeping them safe even after they died). He also seems to express some degree of sympathy and care for the children, such as Theodore Grambell, whom he assisted when they tried to escape Playtime Co.. When Theodore severely electrocutes himself with the GrabPack, instead of continuing with making his perfect escape, the Prototype instead willingly gets him somewhere where others will notice him and save him before he was recaptured by the security. The Prototype was devastated now that he is back to square one of his plans, but once he saw theodore again, he now proclaims him as his "friend", which Theodore accepts him to be his as well. He also comforts and emphasizes CatNap in the official "Sleep Well" song, placing his hand on his shoulder when CatNap is reminded of his human life, which means that, despite killing him in the near end of Chapter 3, the Prototype proves that he genuinely cares about the children (especially Catnap).

All in all, the Prototype is a broken, sympathetic and tormented yet vengefully rage-filled individual, much more then the others, as he was heartbroken and horrified about he saw all scientists especially Harley Sawyer to torturing and mistreating countless orphans and turning them into living toys as well he was sadistically tortured and imprisoned by his tormentor for years, it heavily implied that Harley remorselessly let The Prototype watching of how kids being tragically tormented and experimented by the scientists, this showing a great horror of his heart seeing of how poor lives are being enslaved, tortured and mistreated, this event makes reason why he become into callous and relentless tyrant.

Powers and Abilities [ ]

Being the most intelligent and ruthless experiment in the Playtime CO factory, The Prototype is very patient, collected, calm and cunning entity who always outsmart any staff members that who against his plans to murder nearly all people in the Playtime CO. factory, he is also extremely intelligent, resourceful, and manipulative enough to sway the toys into aiding him in his goals.

It also reveals that he can mimics any voices and personalities from anyone as he talks to Harley Sawyer about as him a judgmental question of how he feels remorse or not.

  • Superhuman intelligence and coordination: The Prototype has been said to have created a laser pointer capable of disabling a camera for 28.3 seconds (exactly) out of just a digital alarm clock. He also hid in one of the camera's blind spots once it reactivated to try to escape. He is also intelligent (& sapient) enough to be able to bond with Theodore Grambell & try to save him when their escape attempt (which he probably thought about all by himself) went south. He is also intelligent enough to successfully organize a massive rebellion against Playtime Co. without much difficulty aside from avoiding anything dangerous to him at the time. He is also intelligent enough to be able to graft dead toys onto his body.
  • Laser pointer (possible): The Prototype used this in Log Code: 08502 to disable the security camera in his cell for 28.3 seconds (exactly, in fact). There is a possibility that it can disable other security cameras for possibly the same amount of time. It is unknown, however, if it can harm living beings, but likely not.
  • Intimidation: The Prototype's grafting habits & extreme abilities make him feared by all the other toys. CatNap establishing his cult which was notorious for its brutality against "heretics" only made him more feared. The Prototype is seemingly aware of this and may have even used CatNap and his cult as his henchmen.
  • Superhuman dexterity: The Prototype was quick enough to be faster than a human inside when he tried to escape his cell, only being stopped by the re-locking mechanism. The specialist was still inside when the door closed, and the Scientist said that it was "a close call", likely implying that the door closed just as the Prototype was a few meters away from it. He is also flexible enough to fit inside a ventilation shaft from the ceiling hatch in the Safe Room: the same hatch that CatNap came from when the protagonist deals the final blow.
  • Superhuman strength: The Prototype is extremely strong and brutal man, as he is capable of killing toys or adults that go against his plans, even those known for their enhanced durability.
  • Sharp claws: The Prototype uses these to collect dead toys (in Mommy and CatNap's case) or to kill his targets (for CatNap (again), the specialist in his cell, & during the Hour of Joy). These are also able to scratch solid brick walls as seen by the message "WONDERFUL" in Chapter 1.
  • Enhanced Reach: One of the Prototype's arms (in this case, the arm he uses to kill & gather toy corpses) is capable of reaching Mommy's torso through a small gap. This arm is also capable of killing Catnap from a cramped area from the hatch above the Safe Room.
  • Stealth: The Prototype likely has the same hiding capabilities of CatNap, albeit better. The most notable example being him hiding in one of the blind spots of the camera in his cell. He is also able to take the body parts of toys in a way where the only visible part of him is the claw he uses to gather the dead toys.

Biography [ ]

Origins [ ].

The Prototype was created by Playtime CO. at an unknown point in time, before every other known Toy. He was designed as an ideal vessel expected for the Bigger Bodies Initiative to move forward and bring Playtime CO.'s toys to life as workers for the factory. In addition, the Prototype was presumably the first sentient experiment to come into existence after Playtime CO.'s attempts to replicate the attempts of Elliot Ludwig, the founder of the company, at post-ported vessels to possess. The Prototype was also stated to be an outlier with their other experiments, as he was stated to not require food for survival, which employees, primarily Dr. Harley Sawyer, enjoyed perceiving. It was also stated that The Prototype shows a new trait of himself during every session, making him an interesting figure to examine.

Log 08502 [ ]

During a session, an unnamed Scientist recounted an incident that involves the Prototype; while confined in his chamber and being monitored at all times, he crafted a laser pointer from his digital alarm clock and other components in his room before firing it at the security camera and disabling it for 28.3 seconds. He then hid in a blind spot away from surveillance, forcing a surveillance specialist to come into the Prototype's room to confirm his apparent "absence". However, upon entering the room, she realized that the Prototype is hiding. When the latter attempted to escape his confinement, the door was immediately re-locked by another surveillance specialist. Now trapped in the room, the previous specialist was then killed by the Prototype, as the Scientist claimed that "one casualty occurred."

Log 24459 [ ]

During a session with Harley Sawyer, the Prototype questioned him if he and any employees feel remorse for "sticking, beating, and tearing at the flesh" of the experiments. However, Dr. Sawyer managed to cleverly retort back by challenging the Prototype before pointing out on how he continues to uncover new aspects about him during each session. The Prototype thanks Sawyer before mocking him in the latter's own voice that he too learned something about the latter everyday.

Meeting Theodore Grambell [ ]

The Prototype escaped confinement and hid inside Playcare, recruiting a troubled orphan named Theodore Grambell to his cause. He frequently encouraged the young boy to sabotage Playtime Co., but to no avail. Their friendship became notorious amongst the staff, who at first believed that the boy's "friend" was imaginary.

He brought the wounded boy to Thomas Clarke's office, the latter spotting him, before he was recaptured by Security. The Prototype was devastated now that he is back to square one of his plans, but once he saw theodore again, he now proclaims him as his "friend", which Theodore accepts him to be his as well.

Two years later, 1006 reunited with Theodore Grambell, who had now become CatNap. During their time together, CatNap followed The Prototype around "like a lost puppy," as stated by Leith Pierre, with 1006 seemingly ignoring him.

Chapter 1: A Tight Squeeze [ ]

Experiment-1006 is mentioned in the death screens, where the protagonist is asked how they think of him.

A huge claw mark with the word "WONDERFUL" was left by The Prototype in the breaker room in the lobby that the protagonist goes into after getting the key from Huggy Wuggy.

The Prototype is mentioned in a VHS tape in the factory. In it, the Scientist explains how the Prototype is missing and directly responsible for the occurring trouble happening in the factory, but explains that he will not harm the research. Screams and Huggy Wuggy's roar are heard in the background and the tape ends abrupty, implying that either Huggy Wuggy or the Prototype killed the scientist. As the tape plays, the Prototype's hand appears on the screen before the tape ends.

Chapter 2: Fly In A Web [ ]

At the end of the chapter, Mommy Long Legs begs the protagonist not to kill her, fearing she'll join "him". After she dies, a large and skinny metal needle hand belonging to Experiment-1006 grabs her remains and drags them into the darkness.

Experiment-1006 is then mentioned in a VHS once again. In it, he is described as being very intelligent, but also very destructive. He is even stated to have made a laser to disable the cameras and escape. This ended in the casualty of an employee. Experiment-1006 is mentioned once again in the death screens, where they said that he was loose which led to the emergency lockdown, as it was mentioned in what happened in the first Experiment-1006 tape.

Chapter 3: Deep Sleep [ ]

Experiment-1006 appears directly in a VHS showing one of his sessions with Harley Sawyer. According to the scientist, the Prototype had been silent in all previous sessions but this time he asked him whether he could feel all the pain he inflicted the toys with his experiments and later taunting him about how he learns new things about him with each session, just as Sawyer does with him. At some point, the Prototype saved CatNap's life and began to be worshiped by the feline toy as a god and savior to all the toys imprisoned at Playtime, forcing other toys to join his cult and even building a shrine to the Prototype in the caves surrounding Playcare, the underground orphanage built by Playtime CO.

At the end of the chapter, when Catnap is set ablaze and has his fur burnt off by the protagonist, the Prototype's hand appears through a vent above his dying follower, who then stabs his claws inside CatNap's mouth, killing him, and taking his now-lifeless body away by his master for his failure to take out the protagonist. Soon after that, it is also revealed by another VHS how Experiment-1006 orchestrated the toys' breakout and the massacre of the entire Playtime CO. staff including innocent visitors in what came to be known as the "Hour of Joy" under his orders, protagonist is now the last surviving worker but is never alone. With the protagonist and Poppy using an elevator by the final moment of the chapter's end, the Prototype presumably attacked Kissy Missy where she is heard screaming in agony.

Other Media [ ]

Project: playtime [ ].

In the canon spin-off game Project: Playtime , the Prototype doesn't make any physical appearances, but his claws are also one of the collectable GrabPack skins found in the game.

It is also heavily implied that the one that instructs the monstrous toys during the tutorial is the Prototype, seeking to stop Playtime CO. from continuing the Bigger Bodies Initiative, which would lead to more orphans suffering.

YOU... CAN'T... DO THIS TO ME!
's last words, fearing that she'll become part of the Prototype.

A trophy of the Prototype labeled

  • Others theorized that 1006 was actually the protagonist, and some suggested that it was Mommy Long Legs. Although all of them were disproven in Chapter 2 via the VHS tapes for Huggy, a clipboard in Statues for Mommy, Mommy saying that we worked for Playtime Co. for the protagonist, and 1006 showing up to collect Mommy's remains for all of them.
  • It is theorized that the Prototype is possessed by Elliot Ludwig, the founder and CEO of Playtime CO., who is angry and vengeful out of a newfound desire to assimilate with dead toys, representing Ludwig's unwillingness to move on from his loved one's (theorized to be his daughter's) death.
  • Due to the numbering of the experiments in Playtime CO., fans have theorized that the Prototype was created before Huggy Wuggy (Experiment-1170) and Mommy Long Legs (Experiment-1222), but after a failed experimentation with a rat (Experiment-814). This same line of reasoning had also led fans to conclude that the Prototype was actually created some time after Poppy was, being the second successful attempt at creating a sentient toy.
  • Mommy Long Legs strongly implies that the toys the Prototype assimilates are still conscious even after being assimilated. If this is true, that would make the Prototype responsible for countless toys suffering.
  • Unlike other toys trophies, his trophy name is "Claw".
  • Some believe that instead of Catnap sacrificing himself to 1006, Catnap thought that The Prototype would save him like he did long ago, only for 1006 to kill him so he can amass more parts.
  • However, the VHS Tape where Miss Delight pleads with CatNap to let her see the children only to be denied possibly due to her murderous nature suggests that they are at least alive & were likely released.
  • Another problem is that it is unknown how the Prototype gains the voices he mimics, as either he is a full-blown amalgamation of souls sharing one body (possibly explaining the changing voices during his talk with Harley Sawyer before the end) or just requires enough concentration to mimic a target's voice (possibly explaining how he perfectly mimicked Harley Sawyer's voice without all the other voices interrupting in the end of the log).
  • Poppy also seems to know about Ollie to the point where she encourages the protagonist to trust his advice. Given her intellect, it would seem difficult for anyone posing as Ollie (in this case, the Prototype) to keep up the facade for very long.
  • By this explanation, Ollie might have been just a small child adopted during the Hour of Joy & is therefore most likely 10-11 years old.
  • The theorist channel, Game Theory theorized that Ollie was a child who was popular among the toys, but has disappeared. The Prototype then used whatever memory he had of Ollie's voice to gaslight Poppy and mislead the protagonist.
  • Ironically, it is theorized that both of them are one & the same.
  • Both of them also seek to sabotage each other's goals.
  • Once again, it is theorized that 1006 and Rich are the same.
  • Kissy Missy also assists the protagonist, rather than trying to kill them like CatNap.
  • Kissy Missy's toy may have succeeded due to the tradition that is making a gender swapped version of a toy company's most successful mascot, while CatNap's toy was discontinued due to the Red Smoke inside it.
  • It's unknown whether or not the Prototype will appear the upcoming live action adaptation created by Legendary Entertainment but there possibility that he may will be the main antagonist of the flim or at least, a overarching antagonist if this happened.

Huggy Wuggy

ProjectPlaytimeLivestreamHuggyRender

Huggy Wuggy is a toy produced by Playtime Co. , who made his debut in Chapter 1: "A Tight Squeeze" as its main antagonist.

In Chapter 1, Huggy Wuggy is initially introduced as a living entity created in 1991 under the Bigger Bodies Initiative . After breaking into the Playtime Co. Factory, he is depicted as a statue located in the Main Lobby of the factory. However, once The Player restores power to the entire facility, Huggy mysteriously disappears. Throughout the chapter, Huggy makes occasional, brief appearances until he finally reveals himself and starts chasing The Player during the intense Ventilation Chase sequence. Towards the end of the chapter, he is seen plummeting deep into the abyss of the factory.

During Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep" , Huggy Wuggy makes a minor appearance as an antagonist. While trapped in a hallucination caused by CatNap 's gas, The Player discovers a VHS Tape that greets new employees. As the tape plays, the game forcefully compels The Player to watch as a distorted, nightmarish version of Huggy emerges from the screen and begins to pursue them. He quickly catches them and jumpscares them, causing them to wake up from their nightmare.

Experiment 1170 , his Bigger Bodies experiment title, was created with obedient qualities, enabling the Playtime Co. staff to train Huggy to serve as a guardian for the factory during guest visits. However, these obedient traits became corrupted as The Prototype redirected Huggy's objectives. Before his highly anticipated debut, Huggy, following his training, was required to stand and patiently wait for the arrival of a human presence, specifically The Player.

Appearance [ ]

Huggy Wuggy is a tall, slender creature covered in thick, bright blue fur. His arms and legs are 10ft in length and end in large yellow hands and feet. His hands have large Velcro straps on the palms, and both they and his feet possess four digits, including thumbs, though they're merely just stitches and are unable to move individually (with the exception of the thumbs). His torso is stout and disproportionately small in comparison to his long limbs. His head is large and contains two large black, dilated eyes. On his face are oversized, cartoonish, bright red lips.

His monster counterpart mostly remains the same, with the exception of his eyes being dilated bigger than intended, giving off a deranged and disturbing physique. Behind his lips is a maw of dozens of jagged needle-like teeth. Closer observation of Huggy's mouth shows a secondary set of jaws located near his throat, akin to that of a moray eel.

His nightmare form is similar to the original Huggy's, but he is now much taller, his face is more skewed, his mouth has been elongated and the side parts at the top of his head are shaped into devilish horns. He has two black sockets in place of his eyes, and his teeth are longer and thinner. The rest of his body remains the same, but his hands and feet now have splayed, elongated fingers and toes that resemble claws. He also seems to lack the secondary jaws at the back of his mouth that the original Huggy had.

Using the tallest man Robert Wadlow’s height and weight of 8’11 and 439 lbs, and his BMI of 27, Huggy Wuggy's height and weight can be estimated to be around 18’0 and 1795 lbs.

Personality [ ]

Originally marketed as a toy intended solely for providing platonic love through hugging, Huggy Wuggy was designed to possess warm and appreciative qualities.

Huggy stalking and killing someone during RESTRICTED_disppearance.

Meanwhile, his Bigger Bodies counterpart retained a similar purpose, serving as a guardian to children and only reacting aggressively when faced with hostility. This was exemplified on June 18, 1992 , when Huggy went on a rampage upon being attacked with darts. He was known to be "obedient" as long as no aggression was directed towards him, which was explicitly stated in Log 08502 . However, under the influence of The Prototype, Huggy transformed into a relentless, genocidal entity driven by his given objectives, lacking control and mercilessly killing anyone who stood in his way.

When The Player returned in 2005, Huggy strictly adhered to the objectives given by The Prototype. His task was to surveil and protect the Playtime Co. factory, alerting others to the presence of any new intruders. Huggy took a stealthy approach, stalking The Player until finally confronting them with a lethal embrace.

History [ ]

Before poppy playtime [ ].

Huggy Wuggy was created by Playtime Co. in 1984, and he quickly became a huge success and one of the many signature toys of Playtime Co. A female counterpart, Kissy Missy , was created in 1985. In 1990, Playtime Co. started the Bigger Bodies Initiative , conducting numerous unethical and highly illegal experiments on the orphans who lived in Playcare , one such example being Huggy Wuggy, who was known as Experiment 1170. His purpose was to function as part of the factory's security, [1] while spending the day posing as a statue in the Main Lobby .

In March 1991, Huggy Wuggy was noticed by visitors to be looking at them. Rowan Stoll reported their complaints to Leith Pierre on the 30th, believing someone could've put nanny cameras in Huggy Wuggy's eyes. On May 28, Rowan sent an apology to Leith, explaining a maintenance worker told him the eyes weren't locked in place, giving the illusion they were moving. [2] [3]

Disappearance incident [ ]

At 10:27 PM on June 18, 1992, Experiment 1170 managed to escape the Playtime Co. factory through an open bay delivery door. Two staff members witnessed his swift escape and sounded the alarm. He traveled nearly a half-mile from the factory before a survival team was deployed at 10:30 PM. One employee, presumably a male adult, was driving through the forest in an attempt to catch up with 1170 by driving to the railroad covering most of the land around the factory. He quickly stopped when he came across a creature wandering around in the forest. Aggressively and swiftly, Huggy rammed himself straight into his car's windshield, frightening him and resulting in him attempting to shoot Huggy with tranquilizer darts. The man successfully shot Huggy, but died at his hands in the process.

At 10:38 PM, the security team began to block and surround 1170 at a railroad crossing. Catching up with Huggy, they successfully shot him with a tranquilizer dart in his left leg. Unfortunately, he escaped back into the forest. The security team then spread outwards using their increased search radius of four miles. However, their radios became unreliable as they were outside of the effective zone. At 11:33 PM, an unknown security worker roamed the woods, encountering the fresh corpse of a deer. They then heard crunching and snaps before Huggy Wuggy appeared, staring down at them ominously before presumably killing them. Later, the worker's still recording camera would capture Huggy Wuggy loudly shrieking in the woods. At 3:38 AM, a camera caught Huggy Wuggy motionlessly standing in front of a suburban house. Huggy would later be caught and brought back to the factory over five hours after his escape. Five workers had died and six were unaccounted for.

After the incident, Leith Pierre wrote a document explaining how 1170 escaped the factory through the ventilation system, stating it was only blind luck that he was caught before being seen by anyone else. He concluded his document by saying that neither he nor the Innovation Department were happy regarding what had happened that night. These events would be documented in a restricted VHS tape and a security report. [4]

The Hour of Joy [ ]

Huggy Wuggy killing a series of civilians in the Main Lobby.

On August 8th, 1995, half a decade after the disappearance of The Prototype, an emergency warning was broadcasted upon all televisions and electronics in the Playtime Co. factory. It was stated for all employees to hide as the experiments' rampage against Playtime Co. began. It is heavily implied to have begun with Huggy Wuggy being influenced by the Prototype to mindlessly kill all of the employees in the Main Lobby. This was all depicted in the Hour of Joy VHS recording , which recorded snippets of Huggy Wuggy and various other toys, such as Mommy Long Legs , the Ruined Critters , Miss Delight and her sisters , Kissy Missy, Boxy Boo and CatNap , in that order as shown via the tape.

Project: Playtime [ ]

After the catastrophic events of The Hour of Joy, Leith Pierre emerged as one of the few known survivors. Driven by his determination to carry on with the Bigger Bodies Initiative, Leith Pierre initiated Project: Playtime. This project involved dispatching six "Resource Extraction Specialists" into the Playtime Co. factory, where rampant toys roamed freely. Their mission was to retrieve artifacts related to the Bigger Bodies experiments, despite the threatening risk of facing potential death. In the end, this project would fall futile as, canonically, the employees would be killed by the toys and fed to the smaller Bigger Bodies experiments such as the Wuggies and the Ruined Critters .

During the Monster Tutorial, it is divulged that Huggy Wuggy plays a vital role as one of the selected toys assigned by the Prototype to provide sustenance to the smaller experiments.

After Project: Playtime was cancelled, Huggy and the other experiments were left without a source of food. Desperate and out of options, he and the other bigger experiments began to eat the smaller toys to survive. Huggy continued to live in the abandoned factory for the next decade until The Player's return in 2005.

During Poppy Playtime [ ]

Chapter 1: "a tight squeeze" [ ].

Huggy Wuggy makes his debut appearance in the Main Lobby , appearing as the main attraction for all tourists who engaged in Playtime Co.'s scheduled tours, as they are stated to exist in the Vintage Poppy Commercial , which doubles as an advertisement for fans to potentially tour the factory. Upon unlocking Security and obtaining the GrabPack and its Blue Hand, The Player now has the ability to delve deeper into the factory. Upon making an attempt to open a shut door which required the Blue Hand, the power cuts off and Huggy can now be seen with a yellow key hung on his "fingers" to be attained. This key opens the Power Room , which requires a mere electric current towards two nodes. This can be done using the GrabPack its its electricity-conducting wires.

Upon resetting power to the Main Lobby, Huggy Wuggy is now missing from his podium. Huggy goes on to stalk The Player as they make their way through the facility. During this time, Huggy is briefly seen twice. The first time, his arm is seen sticking out of the door in the Make-A-Friend hallway after the Main Lobby . He is later seen again in the Warehouse peeking from one of the vents before closing it when The Player goes to the balcony a second time.

Huggy Wuggy's death.

The game reaches its climax when The Player activates the power in the Make-A-Friend room. To progress, they must create their own Swap-imals toy, which serves as a keycard to unlock a sealed door. Upon opening the door with the Cat-Bee toy , Huggy Wuggy emerges from the dark hallway and starts chasing The Player. Their only escape route from Huggy is through the Ventilation Shaft , where the intense Huggy Chase takes place. As they navigate through the maze-like ventilation system, Huggy Wuggy pursues them, mirroring their every move. At times, The Player must wait for narrow shafts to open while Huggy closes in on them.

Ultimately, The Player reaches a pair of catwalks where Huggy fiercely pounds on the ventilation door. Their only option is to pull down a wooden crate, which causes Huggy to crash through the door and lunge towards them. However, Huggy ends up under the wooden crate as it was falling, sending Huggy to his death by plummeting into the depths of the Playtime Co. Factory after colliding with a series of large pipes.

Chapter 2: "Fly in a Web" [ ]

Huggy does not make an appearance in this chapter, but is instead mentioned in the second tape discussing Experiment 1006 , in which he was confirmed to be a different entity, as he went with the alias Experiment 1170 instead. In the Water Treatment zone, a vent surrounded by blood and blue fur can be seen in a specific room meaning that The Prototype took him away to graft him on his body. Even though he's not in the chapter, smaller versions of him known as Mini Huggies appear in the Wack-a-Wuggy game in Game Station .

Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep" [ ]

Home sweet home [ ].

Upon entering Home Sweet Home , The Player encounters The Red Smoke . Despite Ollie 's warnings, they walk through it and ultimately pass out in the real world. In a dream-like state, Home Sweet Home twists into a nightmarish labyrinth filled with unsettling images of children and eerie messages etched into the wood. The disturbing scene climaxes when The Player reaches an unknown nursing room. A tape titled " Welcome To Playtime " sits on a bed.On the screen as the tape plays is a picture of Huggy, and over the course of the tape, it begins to outright call out employees who may be unhappy with something they've "done". The picture of Huggy fades away, to soon be replaced by a picture of Nightmare Huggy.

Nightmare Huggy's jumpscare.

During the concluding segment of the tape, the tape begins to take a more monotone turn as the announcer directly calls out The Player's actions for not being present for the other toys, mocking them for descending downwards into the factory. The announcer describes the factory as "their world", and welcomes The Player "home". Suddenly, a monstrous version of Huggy Wuggy emerges from the TV and begins chasing The Player.

Defenseless, they have no choice but to head down the never-ending corridor they had previously entered. The monstrous Huggy Wuggy taunts The Player, intentionally slowing down as they approach, before finally delivering a jumpscare. The Player suddenly wakes up in the real world, lying on the floor.

CatNap Dream sequence [ ]

Later on during the runtime of Chapter 3, CatNap knocks The Player out and puts them through a lucid trance. Using the voice of Poppy , CatNap attempts to dissuade The Player from delving further into the Playtime Co. Factory.

PPC3-COFlashbackHuggy

Huggy as seen during the Dream Sequence.

Towards the end of the dream sequence, The Player finds themselves in a spiralling red cloud with only the presence of Huggy Wuggy. CatNap, speaking through Poppy's voice, questions them, "Do you know what's real?" and then declares, "No, you don't," in a more focused tone than before, ending the echoing. The Player is later taken to the Main Lobby yet again, overrun with The Red Smoke and its glass dome shattered open. Presumably taking the perspective of Huggy Wuggy, The Prototype reaches down towards The Player, which can later be called back to the beginning of The Hour of Joy when Huggy was taken control of by The Prototype and ordered to kill anything in sight.

Abilities and Anatomy [ ]

While walking, Huggy has a stiff, yet rather lithe and oddly organic-like gait. He is capable of breaking into incredible bursts of speed, using his long arms and legs to propel himself forward. While crawling through the vents after The Player, Huggy is able to bend and contort his body to fit into tight spaces. Before The Player drops the crate onto Huggy on the catwalk, he can be seen sprinting towards them on all fours, much like an ape. Due to his sheer height of a whopping 18 feet tall, he possesses a size advantage against average humans. During the vent chase, Huggy is able to cut off and keep up with The Player by navigating through the ventilation system. He also wields formidable brute strength, capable of damaging and knocking down barriers, including those constructed from metal. Huggy is mentioned to possess a digestive system.

In Log 08502 , Huggy was briefly mentioned as Experiment 1170, and was dubbed the most optimal subject, as he possesses the ideal amount of intelligence and is obedient to the scientists working at the company.

  • Huggy’s design, however, may have been based on a Hanging Monkey Plush, as they both have long limbs, hands and feet that are the same, and Velcro plates on their hands (which may be how Huggy gives hugs).
  • During Chapter 1: A Tight Squeeze, it was said that Huggy Wuggy was 17 feet [6] , although after Chapter 2: Fly in a Web's release, it was said on Twitter that Huggy was 18 feet. [7]
  • However, this has been proven false, as the eyes are assumed to have been a reflection of the floor.
  • Huggy's lips and teeth move around when he attacks The Player.
  • This is evident by the fact that some writing says "Starving" and "I'm so hungry." This is further proven by the fact that he seems to eat The Player when he catches them.
  • This is further enforced since during the Hour of Joy VHS tape , Huggy Wuggy is seen biting off a few co-worker's heads before chasing after a few more workers in the Main Lobby.
  • This, however, is contested, as three different entities can be depicted talking to The Player throughout the Ventilation Shaft via the conveyor walls, and some of the writing is actually guiding The Player through the vents instead of attempting to trick them.
  • Huggy Wuggy is confirmed to be Kissy Missy 's lover, based on her profile on the digital collectible website, as “Better half” is a term for a spouse.
  • This could have been a foreshadowing to Huggy Wuggy's return in Chapter 3 as the hallucination with the eyes blacked out and the large grin.
  • Huggy climbing out of the TV in Chapter 3 was actually teased on an official sticker back in 2021.
  • When Nightmare Huggy jumpscares The Player, his hands wrap around the whole person, when moving the camera away.
  • According to P.W. in the Orientation Notebook , he at one point heard Jimmy Roth claim it was he who suggested Huggy Wuggy to be blue. [8]
