Search this blog, how to accept new assignments (deep rock galactic).

Assignments are like a series of quests in Deep Rock Galactic, and each assignment will require you to complete between 3 and 10 specific mission in the correct order. Most assignments will award you with new weapons, mission types, unlock new features or give you crafting materials, so they are well worth doing.

You can only have one active assignment at a given time, and must either complete or abandon the assignment before you can start a new one. But how do you accept new assignments?

You can accept new assignments in Deep Rock Galactic by heading to the Assignment Board. This is a desk with a computer on it just next to the Mission Terminal and the Drop Pod. Interact with the computer to get a list of all available assignments that you can begin.

Keep in mind that once you begin an assignment, you cannot begin on a new one without abandoning the first one or completing it. So if there's a limited edition assignment then you might want to focus on that one first.

As the driller, you are well suited for crowd control and general swarm clearing. All of the driller's primaries apply status effects and are typically close range. His movement option is a pair of drills, which lets him freely beeline towards objectives with tunnels and carve safer paths for his team.

how to cancel assignment drg

Engineer is my favourite class due to how much versatility his arsenal affords him. Given enough prep time, both his primary and secondary options, coupled with his sentry gun(s) often lets him get the most kills in a game. His movement option is the platform gun, which grants him decent vertical and horizontal mobility.

how to cancel assignment drg

Being the Gunner means having the single minded goal of shooting bugs. His primaries, while not having the highest burst, have large magazine sizes and are capable of long sustained damage. Whenever his team or himself is in danger, the Gunner can throw a shield generator to provide immediate cover for his team.

how to cancel assignment drg

Playing as Scout, you will be spending most of your time mining minerals and providing light for your team. His primary and secondaries have high burst damage but relatively low ammo and crowd clearing capabilities. Thus, Scouts typically focus on killing high priority targets and leave the grunt clearing to the other classes. Equipped with the grappling hook, his high mobility lets him zip around to hard to reach areas and revive teammates in a pinch

Recommendations For your 1st perk, pick up either Field Medic or Hover Boots as they offer the most value in a mission. In the early game, take the cheapest perks to get to the 4th row asap. Save up to get the New Passive Perk Slot as soon as you can. All classes benefit from Vampire, but Drillers especially so as his melee Axes and Drills can proc Vampire. For shield disruption missions, I would like both Vampire and Sweet Tooth. For casual Point Extraction missions, I like running Deep Pockets and Strong Arms
Active: Dash, Field Medic, Iron Will Passive: Born Ready, Resupplier, Sweet Tooth, Thorns, Vampire
  • Dash - All purpose low-cooldown mobility to escape danger and reach difficult locations. Scouts can drop this for FM and IW, since they are already so mobile. Using hover boots and jump right before the end of the speed boost to travel even further.
  • Field Medic - Useful for clutch revives and when teammates are constantly going down (for playing with other greenbeards and those at higher hazards). In solo play, it's effectively useless
  • Iron Will - Saves games by letting you move from a down state to get hp or revive someone. Pairs well with Resupplier (faster resupply speed), FM (potential double revive) and Vampire. Coordinate with your team on 'popping' IW.
  • Born Ready - Quality of life perk that helps you keep up your DPS. Also works on Gunner Zip-line gun, Engineer's Platform gun and Scout's Flare gun.
  • Resupplier - The higher up your haz level, the less hp you regen upon revive. This helps increase your overall survivability, and helps clutch games when you need to resupply near danger.
  • Sweet Tooth - Helps maximise the free red sugars and provides potentially more healing than Vampire. Especially helpful for shield disruption missions.
  • Thorns - Helps clear off trash mobs like Swarmers, Shockers and Larvae. This saves ammo and lets you concentrate more on larger threats like Mactera.
  • Vampire - Keeps your hp topped off with more consistent healing than Sweet Tooth. Synergies with power attacks and Iron Will for pulling off self-revives.
Active: Hover Boots, Berzerker, Beast Master, Shield Link, Heightened Senses Passive: Deep Pockets, Friendly, Strong Arms, Unstoppable
  • Hover Boots - Great for accidental falls, which happens a lot given how dark the game is. Good learning tool, but its long cooldown holds it back.
  • Berzerker - Good for 10s of power attacks face tanking hordes / emergency mining. Combos well with Vampire if you land all your hits.
  • Beast Master - Good for drawing away aggro, but requires you to babysit Steeve else he dies really quickly. Quite weak during Elimination and exploder infestation missions.
  • Shield Link - Decent early game perk to have, but is effectively useless in solo play and shield disruption missions.
  • Heightened Senses - Good early game perk. Can be avoided if you learn to check ceilings. Nice for Solo play and Scouts since they'll most likely be the ones entering unexplored areas alone.
  • Deep Pockets is great for those who really like mining and gold rush missions. Fewer trips to deposit saves time, especially on Extraction missions where speed is doubly important.
  • Friendly - Great, cheap early game perk for playing with trigger happy teammates. Falls in usefulness later on as you learn to avoid shooting teammates.
  • Strong Arms - Useful for more efficient flare throwing, as it covers where you'll be moving towards more. A boon on Point Extraction missions.
  • Unstoppable - Nice in Fungus Bogs, Magma Core, Sandblasted Corridors and Glacial Strata as they have slowing terrain / weather. The lack of control and presence of 'bunny hopping' makes it a weaker Dash.
Active: See You In Hell Passive: Elemental Insulation, It's a Bug Thing, Second Wind, Veteran Depositor
  • See You In Hell - Both the passive and active help kill trash mobs which aren't much of a concern. At its best, the active can one-shot a Praetorian if you're playing solo up till haz 3 and the passive one-shot 1 grunt to the face. Pales in comparison to the other actives.
  • Elemental Insulation - Most damage you want to resist is not resisted by this perk. Some use in Fungus Bogs where its difficult to avoid Poison Spores Fungus.
  • It's a Bug Thing - Niche use in saving time / ammo killing loot bugs. Benefits more on On-site Refining missions where Loot Bugs are concentrated. Ideally only 1 team member whose a Scout has it equipped.
  • Second Wind - Rare to be continuously running for 4-5s. Best case is when returning to the drop pod on Escort Duty, where it's likely to be flat ground. Second Wind Counter Arguement [karl.gg]
  • Veteran Depositor Niche use during low-oxygen missions and last stages of Salvage Operation. But is difficult to get value off (mine heads allows enemies to hit from below)

  • Pheromone Bolt Baits enemies into a tight swarm, which can pair well with Fire DoT, M1000 blow-through or getting attention off you and your team to finish off high value targets / complete objectives.
  • Chemical Bolt Causes enemies killed within 8s of being hit with this to blow up for a powerful 140 Poison damage explosion. With a 4m AoE radius, this coupled with its base 80 damage DoT is a powerful mod that gives solo Scouts decent swarm clear.
  • Taser Bolt Applies the Electric DoT with a strong slow. This slow can be stacked multiple times onto single enemies with directly hits, or at the cost of 2 or more bolts, planted into terrain to create AoE electric "fences" between the bolts. This mod benefits from increased special bolt duration as it takes time to setup.

  • 1.2 Egg Hunt
  • 1.3 On-site Refining

  • 1.5 Point Extraction
  • 1.6 Escort Duty
  • 1.7 Elimination
  • 1.8 Industrial Sabotage

  • 6.1 Cargo Crates
  • 6.2 Lost Pack
  • 6.3 Machine Events
  • 6.4 Data Cell
  • 6.5 Plagueheart
  • 6.6 Creature Encounters

Mission Types

There are currently eight mission types available to choose from. Each mission type has different objectives, generated cave systems will also vary based on mission type. Each mission type becomes available for hosting after completing the Conquer Hoxxes IV Assignment.

Mining Expedition

Mining Expeditions are the first mission available to new Miners. Mining Expedition missions are characterized by linear series of connected caves separated by dirt walls between them with a "treasure room" full of resources at the end.

Morkite icon.png

The required quota of Morkite differs based off the mission length and complexity.

Once the main objective of collecting the quota of Morkite has been met a button on the M.U.L.E. can be pressed which will call an escape pod down somewhere on the map. At this point players will have 5 minutes to make their way back to the pod and escape.

You are accompanied on most missions by the M.U.L.E. and either your fellow Dwarven companions (other players) or your drone, Bosco (when playing alone in a server or in Solo Mode).

Egg Hunt missions are characterized by a central starting room with several branching paths connecting to large, irregularly shaped caverns with a few small offshoot caves connected, usually via dirt walls.

Alien egg icon.png

The required amount of Alien Eggs changes based off the level length.

Once the main objective of collecting the quota of Alien Eggs has been met a button on the M.U.L.E. can be pressed which will call an Drop Pod down somewhere on the map. At this point players will have 5 minutes to make their way back to the pod and escape.

You are accompanied on the mission by the M.U.L.E. and either your fellow Dwarven companions (other players) or your drone, Bosco (when playing alone in a server or in Solo Mode).

On-site Refining

On-site Refining missions are characterized by one large cavern that you are dropped into that has a large central refinery platform dropped into the map shortly after all players have exited the Drop Pod, and an aggressive flow of enemies. The refinery platform is raised from the ground, has four ramps attaching it, two central deposit points for materials, a launch button that activates the extraction phase, headlights, and three pipeline access ports.

The first goal is to locate Liquid Morkite sites, easily identifiable by a dense geyser of blue liquid. After calling Pumpjacks on the found wells, coming back to the Refinery site via the pipeline access, it requires building a network of pipes to the Pumpjacks. Once all pumps are connected, the refining process can be activated via a button on the platform. From this point, swarms of enemies will attack until the end of the mission, becoming worse over time. During the extraction of the liquids, leaks will appear on the pipeline grid and will need to be fixed to progress the objective, as well as optionally collecting an assigned Secondary Objective material.

The required quota of Liquid Morkite does not differ based off the mission length and complexity. Only the distance between the wells and the Refinery vary.

Once the quota of Liquid Morkite has been met, a launch button located on the refinery platform will become active. The enemies will not stop spawning and attacking before activating the button. Once activated, the refinery head used for depositing minerals will detach from the platform and propel itself back to the space rig via a rocket.

At this point, a short time will pass until a drop pod arrives nearby for escape. Players will have three minutes to make their way to the Escape Pod.

You are accompanied on the mission by your fellow Dwarven companions (other players) or your drone, Bosco (when playing alone in a server or in Solo Mode). In this mission you are not provided with the M.U.L.E.

Salvage Operation

Salvage Operation is characterized by a small starting room which branches out into one giant cave with many Mini M.U.L.E. parts lying around and a broken Drop Pod.

The first goal is to search the tunnels for broken Mini M.U.L.E.s, easily identifiable by either a beeping noise or a green visual beacon. Around each broken M.U.L.E. there will be up to four Mini M.U.L.E. legs. Each Mini M.U.L.E. only needs three legs where after they are attached, they must be repaired. Repairing each Mini M.U.L.E. rewards the team with what it was carrying, which is always Nitra and Gold .

After the Mini M.U.L.E.s have all been repaired, a button on the M.U.L.E. becomes available to press which recalls all the M.U.L.E.s to the drop pod. The team must then repair a communications uplink which, once repaired, allows mission control to triangulate the pod's position. During this time the team must defend themselves from a large swarm and stay within a green sphere around the uplink or else the progress will slow down or even decrease. Getting downed in the sphere will count as if a player has left the area, and if the progress completely depletes this mission will instantly fail.

After triangulation is complete the team gets a breather while waiting for the Fuel Cells to drop down. After it arrives the team must link up the Fuel Cells to the drop pod with cords and then defend themselves within another green sphere, which players have to stay inside of for the fuel to fill the drop pod. Once this is completed the team will be free to move anywhere but will have to hold out for an additional two minutes until the drop pod is ready to leave after which the team can finally escape.

The number of Mini M.U.L.E.s to salvage is dependent on the length of the mission.

You are accompanied on the mission by the M.U.L.E. and either your fellow Dwarven companions (other players) or your drone, Bosco (when playing alone in a server or in Solo Mode). After recalling the M.U.L.E. to the broken Drop Pod, it will not be available for the rest of the mission; players can still deposit directly into the mineral grinders on the sides of the broken Drop Pod.

Point Extraction

Point Extraction missions are characterized by one large cavern that you are dropped into, and an aggressive flow of enemies. A large central mining platform lands nearby shortly after all players have exited the Drop Pod. It is raised from the ground, has four ramps connecting it to the ground, two central deposit points for materials, a launch button that activates the extraction phase, two headlights which slowly rotate, and three turrets each with 600 rounds of ammunition. The turrets will disappear once all of their ammo has been spent. The longer the players stay in the mission, the larger the size of enemy groups that spawn.

Aquarq icon.png

The number of Aquarq to collect is dependent on the length of the mission.

Once the quota of Aquarq has been met, a launch button located on the mining platform will become active. Once activated, the mine head used for depositing minerals will detach from the platform and propel itself back to the space rig via a rocket.

At this point, a two minute timer will begin counting down until a drop pod arrives nearby for escape, during which swarms of enemies will attack. Once the two-minute timer ends, players will have three minutes to make their way to the Escape Pod.

Escort Duty

Escort Duty missions are characterized by a large starting room with several unconnected large, irregularly shaped caverns and rare small caves.

Oilshale icon.png

The required number of refueling differs based off the mission length.

Upon successful collection of the Ommoran Core, a button on the M.U.L.E. can be pressed which will call a Drop Pod down somewhere on the map.

At this point players will have 5 minutes to make their way back to the pod and escape.

Elimination

Elimination mode is characterized by a central starting room with multiple branching interconnected tunnels and dirt paths leading from the starting room.

The goal is to search the tunnels to locate the two to three cocoons containing the mini-bosses, the various Dreadnought Types . Dwarves must fight and kill all the Dreadnoughts, and optionally collect an assigned Secondary Objective material.

The number of targets to kill is based on the length and complexity of the mission.

Upon successfully eliminating the Dreadnought targets, a button on the M.U.L.E. can be pressed which will call an escape pod down somewhere on the map.

You are accompanied on the mission by the M.U.L.E. and either your Dwarven Companions (other Players) or Bosco the drone (when playing alone in a server or in Solo Mode).

Industrial Sabotage

Industrial Sabotage missions are characterized by a small starting room which branches out into a large central room. The large central room contains the Data Vault which is guarded by a large "Caretaker" boss as well as an impenetrable force field and branches off towards two sub-rooms. Each sub-room contains a power station that maintains the force field. Additionally the entire map is littered with Rival Tech security robotics which includes a variety of stationary turrets, mobile patrol bots, and swarms of small shredder drones.

The first goal is to find and disable the power stations in order to disable the force field protecting the Data Vault. Following the two large power lines coming out of the force field projector will lead you to each of the power stations. Once you find one of the two power stations, call in a Hacking Pod, retrieve Transmitter Nodes from the node dispenser on the pod, and toss them on the ground to create a transmission signal between the Hack-C Bot Unit and the power station. Once a connection is made, the hacking sequence can begin. During the hacking sequence, the Hacking Pod must be defended for a certain period of time while it disables the power station. The process is identical for both power stations.

Once both power stations are disabled, the force field surrounding the Data Vault will only be running on backup power. Remove the backup batteries from the force field projector to fully disable the force field. When it is disabled, the Caretaker boss will be activated and must be defeated in three phases before the Data Rack can be retrieved. The entire fight involves robotic appendages that the Caretaker uses to attack you as well as Area Shocks from the base of the vault and periodic large repulsive Plasma Barrier Waves. As the fight progresses, it gets more and more difficult.

Upon successfully defeating the Caretaker, the Data Vault will open and reveal the Data Rack which can then be collected and put on the M.U.L.E. and a button on the M.U.L.E. can be pressed which will call an escape pod down somewhere on the map.

The Deep Dive is a collection of three missions which are pre-seeded, meaning that they will be the same layout every time you play. The missions require two primary objectives to be completed before the Drop Pod can be summoned, with Mutators having a much higher chance of occurring whereas other features such as Crafting Materials and Machine Events are disabled. All three levels must be played in sequence with each mission granting extra rewards if completed. The status of the Dwarves including each player's individual health and ammo as well as the Team Depository is carried over between missions. There are also Elite Deep Dives, which are significantly more difficult but offer better rewards. Enemy spawns will never be the same unless it is an objective specific target.

Hazard Bonuses

Mutators were released in Update 15: Mutation Warning . Missions may have Mutators, which are special events that may modify the mission for better or worse. Warnings are negative mutators and Anomalies are positive or neutral mutators. A mission currently can have at most two Warnings and one Anomaly. Warnings will increase the Hazard Bonus from 15% up to 50%.

Seasonal Events

During the year, the game will activate Seasonal Events to celebrate varying real-world events. Those often take the form of a special item to collect in the caves (one per mission) and will double the season PP received for the mission completion.

Random Events

Cargo crates, machine events, plagueheart, creature encounters.

  • As of Update 23 , the 18th song in the soundtrack "Beneath the Crust" will play on the results screen upon mission completion.
  • After release, Update 32: Roughnecks At Work added two mission types: On-site Refining and Escort Duty .
  • Season 01: Rival Incursion added the mission type: Industrial Sabotage .
