About VITREE

Vellore Institute of Technology Research Entrance Examination (VITREE) is conducted for admission to various Ph.D./Direct Ph.D. programmes in VIT group of Institutions. VITREE - July 2024 session will be conducted on 05 th May 2024 (Based on election date, there is a possibility that the exam date might be subject to change only on the coinciding locations) in 59 cities across India. The duration of the examination will be 2 hours. All questions will be Multiple Choice Questions and one mark for right and '0' mark for the wrong answer. The question paper for Ph.D. will have 100 MCQs (Technical - 70 questions; English communication skills - 15; Statistics and probability - 15 questions) and the question paper for Direct Ph.D. will have 100 MCQs (Technical - 80 questions; English communication skills - 20 questions). VIT Research Entrance Examination. VITREE 2024 Exam

VITREE 2024 Exam : Vellore Institute of Technology Research Entrance Examination (VITREE) is conducted for admission to various Ph.D./Direct Ph.D. programmes in VIT group of Institutions. – January 2024 session will be conducted on 10th December 2023 in 33 cities across India.

All About GATE 2024 Exam

The duration of the examination will be 2 hours. All questions will be Multiple Choice Questions and one mark for right and ‘0’ mark for the wrong answer.

• 10+2+4+1 for Ph.D. in Engineering (Foreign Degree holders also eligible to apply)

Ph.D in Non-Engineering Stream:

• 10+2+3+2 (pattern of studies) or any equivalent in Non-Engineering degree
• 10+2+5 year Integrated. M.Sc. (Biotech) in Non- Engineering degree

Direct Ph.D. in Engineering Stream:

• 10+2+4 or 5 (pattern of studies) or any equivalent degree in Engineering degree

Ph.D. in Engineering

• Master’s degree in Engineering / Technology in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks (of all the years /semesters) wherever marks are awarded, or a CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale in cases where letter grades are awarded or Equivalent qualifications like M.Sc. (Engineering) / M.S. [By Research] / M.Tech. [By Research].

For Direct PhD in Engineering / Technology: Graduates must have an outstanding academic record in their Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Technology is eligible to apply. A minimum of 75% marks or a CGPA of 7.5 is mandatory on a 10- point scale.

Direct Ph.D: Selection based on the performance in the VITREE – January 2024 score, B.E. / B.Tech degree marks, research proposal and personal interview. Candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria prescribed, shall appear for VITREE – January 2024, a two-hour Computer-Based Test (CBT). VITREE will be conducted on 10th December 2023. The question paper will have 100 MCQs (Technical – 80 questions; English communication skills – 20 questions). Candidates may choose their venue and the campus where they wish to pursue their Ph.D. Change of Campus, Venue, Date of Entrance Exam, Interview and specialization will not be permitted.

Shortlisted candidates should appear for a personal interview.

Educational Qualification

For M.Tech (By Research )

• Aspiring candidates should have passed a bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology Master’s degree in Science or Master’s degree in Computer Applications (with Physics and Mathematics at Bachelor’s level) with first-class or a minimum of 60% aggregate marks / CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale. OR
• Applicants with M.Sc Computer Science or MCA willing to do a Ph.D. can register for M.Tech (by Research).  

For M.Phil.

• Aspiring candidates should have passed a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline of Science with a first-class (or a minimum of 60% marks/CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale. OR
• For Languages, Master’s degree with a minimum of 55% marks. OR
• A Master’s degree in the relevant discipline of Management with a first-class (or a minimum of 60% marks / CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale.
• Aspiring candidates should have passed a Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant discipline with a first-class or a minimum of 60% marks / CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale or equivalent qualifications like M.Sc (Engineering) / M.S (By Research.) / M.Tech (by Research). OR
• Applicants of MCA / M.Sc (CS) / M.Sc (IT) / MS Software Engineering candidates are advised to register for M.Tech Research initially and then they can upgrade to Ph.D. 

For Ph.D. (Management)

• Aspiring candidates should have passed an MBA or M.E / M.Tech with a first-class or a minimum of 60% marks/CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale.

For Ph.D. (Law)

• Aspiring candidates should have passed a Master’s Degree in law (LLM/ML) from any recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks or a 6.0 CGPA.

For Ph.D. (Integrated)

• Aspiring candidates should have passed a Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology disciplines of Biotechnology / Electronics. OR
• A minimum 80% mark or a CGPA of 8.0 is the primary prerequisite. OR
• Candidates appearing for the final examination can also apply if they meet all the requirements at the time.

Saint Joseph’s University and the Barnes Foundation Launch Online Museum Education Graduate Program, Marking First-Of-Its-Kind Collaboration in Philadelphia

Innovative partnership offers students a unique opportunity to learn from esteemed museum experts

PHILADELPHIA, AUGUST 5, 2024 — Today, Saint Joseph’s University and the Barnes Foundation announced a new online graduate program designed to prepare future museum educators for roles in public and private institutions. Beginning in fall 2024, the museum education graduate program will offer a Master of Arts in Museum Education and a Museum Education Certificate . 

Building on the educational affiliation between the Barnes and Saint Joseph’s University, which began in 2018 to further the common missions of both institutions, this new, comprehensive graduate program teaches students how to share knowledge with the public in an engaging and inclusive way, from K-12 school groups to museum visitors. Participants will learn strategies for teaching about objects and collections and develop skills applicable to any type of museum, including art and natural history museums, science institutes and historical sites. 

“The uniqueness of our new museum education program lies in the strength of the partnership between the Barnes and SJU,” says Joshua Power, BS ’05, EdD ’16 , dean of the School of Education and Human Development at Saint Joseph’s University. “This program was co-created by these two great institutions to provide a one-of-a-kind educational experience tailored specifically to the museum industry and advancing your museum career.” 

Offered entirely online, the museum education program was designed for students from around the world, with assignments and projects that encourage participants to engage with their local museums. Students will explore various topics, including the history of museum education; pedagogical strategies for gallery-based teaching; and museum management. Each course will be taught by esteemed faculty who bring a wealth of practical experience.

“This innovative endeavor with Saint Joseph’s University is at the heart of our mission to make art accessible and relatable through education,” says Martha Lucy, Deputy Director for Research, Interpretation, and Education at the Barnes Foundation. “The Barnes has been focused on learning since our founding in 1922, so this really is in our DNA — and we are excited to help shape the next generation of museum educators.”

In addition to learning from expert faculty, students enrolled in the program will use the Barnes’ state-of-the-art Visual Experience Platform (VXP), designed specifically for the study of visual material. This innovative online learning tool allows students to zoom in on artworks in astonishing detail while engaging in dialogue with their peers and educators, creating a highly interactive environment conducive to learning. 

Local students enrolled in the program will have access to the many vibrant cultural offerings of Philadelphia as well as internship opportunities at the Barnes and Saint Joseph’s University’s Frances M. Maguire Art Museum , which is housed in the original Barnes gallery building. Internships require 35 hours of fieldwork and a biweekly seminar component. 

Credits earned from the certificate program in museum education can be applied toward the Master of Arts in Museum Education at Saint Joseph’s University. Students who complete the certificate program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher can take six additional courses to earn the MA.
