Nutritional Analysis and Proximate Analysis of Products

The major need for the nutritional analysis is for the preparation of the nutritional label of the food products. The nutritional analysis is also the indicator whether the product is in line with the specified norms of various mandatory regulations. The nutritional analysis can also be used to highlight the fortification performed in the product to enhance its value as a food. Also, nutritional label has the prime importance when the products are to be exported. There are certain parameters on the label that needs to be in compliance with various Indian and International regulatory standards. We at FRAC are conducting as well as in the verification of nutritional analysis and proximate analysis which generally includes fats, carbohydrates, energy, protein, sugars, vitamins and other trace elements.

Food Safety

Adulteration: Adulteration in food is the most common being faced in India today. We at FRAC conduct determination of any adulterants in the various food materials such as milk, ghee, oils and all the other food products commonly prone to adulteration. The determination of adulterants in food helps to safeguard the right of the customers.

Food Additive Testing: The category of additives generally includes colorants, preservatives, antioxidants or any other substance added to enhance either the taste, shelf-life or the overall essence of the product. The challenge with food additives is only the usage of only the permitted additives within the specified limits. At FICCI Research and Analysis Centre (FRAC) through the expertise of our analysts we ensure the compliance of all the food products with the specified regulations.

Microbiological Testing: Now a days there is an increased awareness among consumers about the safety of food products. The growing demand for fresh and best forms of products has led to the advancements of food safety practices in the industry. Furthermore, the high occurrence of foodborne diseases in various countries, is resulting in increasing concerns and investigations of foodborne pathogen. Resulting in an increased demand for the microbiological testing of food products. FRAC, helps you keep a check on the microbiological safety of the food, beverage, water, and other products that you consume.

Contaminants: At FRAC, we are conducting contamination analysis to identify the impurities at even the smallest levels which can cause contamination or damage to a product, making it unfit for human consumption. It may include the toxic metals, toxic chemicals, pesticides, and others. Our analysts are dedicated to analyse the contaminants down to the parts per million and billion.

Physical Parameters Testing

FRAC performs a wide range of physical tests on the raw as well as finished food products to determine the various kinds of contaminations and defects in the product which if go undetected, can lead to a decrease in the overall market value of the product. The various physical test includes- sieve analysis, weight, appearance test, screening test, presence of foreign materials etc.

Shelf-life Analysis

Shelf-life is basically used to denote a time period during which a food product remains suitable for consumption in terms of microbiological safety, organoleptic properties and quality parameters such as moisture and rancidity. Our food testing lab conducts all the test with utmost precision throughout the shelf-life analysis. The conditions for storage and testing are customized as per the requirement and the testing is conducted at the pre- determined intervals.

Packaging Material Testing

Packaging for foodstuffs are available in various forms, based on the technical requirements throughout the supply chain and the marketing needs.

At FRAC, we are committed to help our customers in checking and evaluating the performance of their packaging material and finished products. With the advancements coming up with the modern lifestyle, it is must important to keep a check on high quality of food and its packaging that a person is consuming. The packaging should protect the food from getting contaminated, damage. Also it must abide with the labelling requirements specified under FSS Act/ Rules and Regulations.

We are offering all the mandatory tests required for containers for packaging of natural mineral water and packaged drinking water, Poly ethylene flexible pouches for packaging of Mineral Water, paper, corrugated Boxes and many more.

Any food contact material should not release chemicals into the food at quantities that can harm human health. In order to assess the health impacts related to food packaging it is therefore essential to understand the chemical composition of the packaging material and the levels at which these compounds can partition into foodstuffs, a process that is known as migration.

At FRAC, help our customers to comply with the migration limits when tested as per method prescribed in IS 9845.

• Overall migration- Overall migration assessment serves to determine the whole chemical transfer from packaging into food without necessarily knowing their chemical identity.
• Specific migration- A Specific Migration is applicable to an individual substance and is based on the toxicology studies.

Requirement for specific migration limits of substances from plastic materials intended to be in contact with articles.

• Colour Migration- In case of coloured plastic materials, colour migrated to simulant or decolourised coconut oil or food packed shall not be apparent to naked eye. If the colour migrated is clearly visible, such materials are not suitable for food contact applications, even if the extractive value is within the limit.

Environmental Testing

Environmental Monitoring has now become crucial element for all the industries in order to collect the information about our surrounding and assess the effectiveness of the environment which we are breathing in. The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has empanelled FRAC for environmental monitoring services. We are also approved by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

With the focus of assisting our valued customers in protecting and preserving our mother nature while contributing in the development of society, FRAC is dedicated to provide all the testing services related to Environment. That includes:

Stacks are one of the major source of air pollution. Be it Boiler stacks, Diesel Generators (DG), or any other, all needs to be analysed and monitored on regular basis to check if it is working in compliance or not.

Whatever we eat and drink, comes directly or indirectly from soil and thus it is the ultimate source of nutrition for us. Soil contamination is a major part of land degradation which is caused by the exposure to chemicals and other alteration in natural soil. Major reasons being, industrial activities, improper waste disposal, chemical, etc. At FRAC, we are committed to provide accurate results for the quality of soil by testing:

Noise pollution is excessive and unwanted sound that can deleteriously affect human health and environment. It is generally generated in the industrial facilities and workplaces, railway, airplanes and outdoor construction activities being the other sources. Noise pollution can be hazardous of our health by leading to hypertension, hearing loss, sleep disturbances, Cardiovascular and Psychological dysfunctions, and may also hinder child development. It also affects the marine life and wildlife by interfering their feeding habits, reproductive patterns and migration routes, and can even cause haemorrhage and death. FRAC provides testing services for measuring the noise level at workplaces and making an unsafe area safer for all.
