Let’s get ready to read a detailed essay on the Christmas festival that is celebrated all over the world by people of varied beliefs and religions. Here you go:

Christmas is celebrated every year on December 25 . The festival marks the celebration of the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ . Jesus Christ is worshipped as the Messiah of God in Christian Mythology. Hence, his birthday is one of the most joyous ceremonies amongst Christians. Although the festival is mainly celebrated by the followers of Christianity, it is one of the most enjoyed festivals all over the globe. Christmas symbolizes merriment and love. It is celebrated with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm by everyone, no matter what religion they follow.

The season of Christmas that begins from Thanksgiving brings festivity and joy to everyone’s lives. Thanksgiving is the day when people thank the almighty for blessing them with harvest and also show gratitude towards all the good things and people around. On Christmas, people wish each other Merry Christmas and pray that the day takes away all the negativity and darkness from people’s life.

Christmas is a festival full of culture and tradition. The festival entails a lot of preparations. Preparations for Christmas start early for most people. Preparations for Christmas involve a lot of things including buying decorations, food items, and gifts for family members and friends. People usually wear white or red coloured outfits on the day of Christmas.

The celebration begins with decorating a Christmas tree . Christmas tree decoration and lighting are the most important part of Christmas. The Christmas tree is an artificial or real pine tree that people adorn with lights, artificial stars, toys, bells, flowers, gifts, etc. People also hide gifts for their loved ones. Traditionally, gifts are hidden in socks under the tree. It is an old belief that a saint named Santa Claus comes on the night of Christmas eve and hides presents for well-behaved kids. This imaginary figure brings a smile to everyone’s face.

Young children are especially excited about Christmas as they receive gifts and great Christmas treats. The treats include chocolates, cakes, cookies, etc. People on this day visit churches with their families and friends and light candles in front of the idol of Jesus Christ. Churches are decorated with fairy lights and candles. People also create fancy Christmas cribs and adorn them with gifts, lights, etc. Children sing Christmas carols and also perform various skits marking the celebration of the auspicious day. One of the famous Christmas carols sung by all is “Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell, Jingle all the way”.

On this day, people tell each other stories and anecdotes related to Christmas. It is believed that Jesus Christ, the son of God, came to the Earth on this day to end people’s sufferings and miseries. His visit is symbolic of goodwill and happiness and it is depicted through the visit of the wise men and the shepherds. Christmas is, indeed, a magical festival that is all about sharing joy and happiness. For this reason, it is also my most favorite festival.

Apart from the religious beliefs, the festival is known as sharing gifts with family as well as friends. The cute kids wait for the whole year to receive gifts from Santa. The craze of receiving gifts increases so much that they get up at midnight and start asking what they are going to get from Santa. They share their wishes with their parents and their parents try to accomplish them on the behalf of Santa.

What would have happened if there was no festival to celebrate? What would have happened if we had to work and study every day, with no recess? We would soon feel tired and unhappy. Thus the solution is celebrations. So it is the festivals that help us live. Festivals are important to us because it relieves us.

When we celebrate, we feel lots of energy. So celebrations are very important to all of us. Christmas is one of the biggest festivals in the world. It is celebrated worldwide. Everyone participates on this occasion. It is mainly the festival of the Christians. But today, the entire world enjoys the Christmas season.

Christmas is the centre of all joys for Christians. This is the day to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. He was born on 25th December at Bethlehem, in Jerusalem, in a stable. His mother is Mary and his father is Joseph. Christ is worshipped by all Christians. On the day of this festival, they bake cakes and cookies. Everyone visits the church to pray to Christ.

They drink bread and wine to complete their prayer. Christmas is the occasion when they leave all their worries and only enjoy some days with their family and friends. Short Essay on Christmas in 400 words

Festivals are the biggest source of fun and happiness. Any upcoming festival keeps us energetic. We get all strength to work hard because we can enjoy ourselves during festivals. Christians have very few festivals. It is only during Easter and Christmas that they can have fun. So the winter is the time of their celebration. The world awaits the arrival of Christmas. They make preparations for a long period of time. So Christians rejoice the best during this festival.

Christmas is not just any festival. It is like the Janmasthami, where the Hindus celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna as a little baby. Just like Janmasthami, Christmas is the festival to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Lord of all Christians. He was born on 25th December at Bethlehem, in Jerusalem, in a stable. His mother is mother Mary and his father is Joseph.

Jesus and Krishna have lots of similarities. Both of them were shepherds. Both were born in a very humble household. Both of them preached about peace. They taught us not to hurt others, even plants and animals. Being kind to all was their biggest teaching. So Christmas is as beautiful as Janmashtami.

On the eve of Christmas, on 24th December night, people arrange a Christmas tree. They decorate it with gifts and lights. They also bake cakes and cookies. Lots of guests are invited. Those who are rich, throw parties at their houses to celebrate Christmas. On the morning of Christmas, they visit churches and pray to Jesus for the overall peace and well-being. They are offered bread and wine to eat as the blessings of Christ. After they return, their festival starts with sharing food and serving the poor.

The saints, popes, and nuns serve the needy as part of the celebration. The biggest fun of Christmas is Sants Claus. He arrives the night before Christmas and distributes gifts to good children. The kids rejoice at the gifts, which increases their happiness.

Now Christmas is not just a festival of the Christians. It is now for all. In India, everyone enjoys the winter vacation. Kolkata is one of the biggest attractions during this time. It lights up beautifully and people come out of their houses to have fun. Eating cakes, praying to God is now the ritual of all. Christmas is the best year-end celebration that soon passes into the new year.

That was pretty much everything about writing short essays on Christmas. In the session above, I have discussed every possible aspect of this popular festival. Here also I adopted a simplistic approach of writing in a very simple language for easy understanding of all kinds of students. Essay on My Favourite Season for Students [5+ Essays]

My Favourite Season essay: There are six seasons in India. Summer (Grishma Ritu), Monsoon (Varsha Ritu), Autumn (Sharad Ritu), Pre-Winter (Hemant Ritu), Winter (Shishir Ritu), and Spring (Vasant Ritu). In this article, you are going to learn how to write an essay/paragraph on my favourite season or the season I like most. Here, we’ve included essays/paragraphs on all the six seasons of India. So, let’s begin.

Table of Contents

Essay on My Favourite Season Winter

Winter is the best of all seasons and I like this season the most. December, January and February are the three winter months. The weather at this time is very pleasant. In this season we can work hard but do not get tired. We put on warm clothes and enjoy the bright sunshine. The nights are very cold. The night in a warm bed under a quilt is very comfortable.

Paddy is harvested in this season. Colourful seasonal flowers grow in gardens. Fish, vegetables and fruits are also available in plenty in this season. They are very cheap also. This is the most suitable time for holding picnics in the open air. We can go out and hold excursions in winter.

Various types of fairs are held and festivals like Saraswati Puja, Christmas, and New Year’s Day are celebrated in this season. While we enjoy the cool comfort of the winter, the poor people suffer a lot during these months. They do not have warm clothes to protect them from cold. Overall I love this season very much.

My Favourite Season Summer Essay

Of all the six seasons, my favourite season is summer. It is the hottest season of the year. The summer season starts in March and ends in June. In this season the sun shines brightly. The best part of this season is summer vacation. This is a great relief from a hectic schedule, home works, and exam pressure. I enjoy the vacation by going to a beach or a hill station with friends and families. In summer I like to have cold drinks, lassi, ice cream, and coconut water.

We get many fruits in this season like mango, watermelon, litchi, jackfruit, pineapple etc. Many festivals such as charak puja, Rama Navami, Baisakhi, Rabindra Jayanti, etc. are celebrated in this season. There are varieties of fruits and vegetables available during this season. Many beautiful flowers like Lilly, Marigold, Roses, Dahlia, and Sunflower bloom in this season. Summer is just a wonderful season with so much fun and enjoyment.

My Favourite season Rainy Season

The season I like most is the Rainy season or monsoon. In India, this season begins in mid-June and ends in early September. Rainy season comes after the scorching heat of summer season and gives us relief. Clouds float here and there in the sky. Lightning and thunder occur frequently. People can be seen with umbrellas and raincoats. Dry rivers and lakes become full.

Farmers plough their fields. Children become very happy. They make paper boats and dance in the rain. A variety of fruits, vegetables, and crops grow in this season. Beautiful flowers blossom in this time. Beautiful rainbows can be seen in the sky.  This season brings a lot of festivals like Raksha Bandhan, 15th August, Teej, Janmashtami, etc. We can enjoy various types of dishes in the rain.

But sometimes heavy rainfall brings the flood. Flood causes many to lose their lives, houses, and livelihood. On the other hand, if there is no rainfall for a long time, drought can occur. This causes extensive damage to crops. So, the Rainy season is an important season for us.

The season of spring is dear to poets and lovers. This is taken as a time of beauty, melody and happiness. Spring lasts for a little more than two months-from February to mid-April. The weather in spring is rather pleasant. This is neither too cold nor too hot. There is also no troublesome rainfall. The sky looks clear and blue.

The gentle breeze soothes Trees and lands are all green and lovely. This is particularly a season of flowers and fruit. Different sorts of vegetables too, grow in plenty. The season has the festivals of the Saraswati Puja and the Holi. Indeed many are found, like the poet, to long for spring-“If winter comes, can spring be far behind ?”.

My Favourite Season Autumn

India is a land of seasons. Six seasons come and pass away here. Autumn, however, appears to me the most charming season of all. It covers roughly two months-September and October. Our earth looks fresh and bright with its coming. The cloudy sky and the rainy weather are over in autumn. A deep blue sky smiles and the sun shines brightly. Nature is adorned with grace and charms. The natural beauty of the season is greatly appealing to me.

Autumn is dear to me for another important reason. This is the season for the greatest Bengali festival-the Durga Puja. This is the festival of joy and happiness. It makes one happy. I enjoy in it the happiness of the season.

My Favourite Season Autumn Essay

During the rainy season, the sky remains overcast with clouds. Rains fall continually. But, with autumn, the clouds are no more. A deep blue sky spreads, like a deep blue sea. The white patches of clouds float like little fairy boats.

The day looks golden with the sun shining. The night has a silvery moon, with its silvery luster. The millions of stars, too, sparkle. Now and then, rain begins to fall thick and fast. But then suddenly the rain stops and, again, a deep blue sky smiles. In autumn, the rivers are full to the brim. The fields are all green and golden with crops. Men and women are busy among them, reaping the harvest. Nature and man seem to unite in one mood of peaceful gladness. Autumn is my favourite season.

Holi is the festival of colors and is celebrated as the major festival of Hindus. This festival is celebrated in the spring season before the onset of summer.

The History behind Holi Celebration

The festival has a story behind its celebration. The demon king Hiranyakashyap desired that everybody in his kingdom would worship him as a god. All people did the same except Prahlad, his own son.

Prahlad was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu. Hiranyakashyap wanted to kill Prahlad and therefore asked her sister Holika to sit with Prahlad in the fire. Essay 4 (500 – 600 Words) – My Favourite Festival Diwali

Festivals bring happiness and enjoyment to our life. Every festival has its own importance and history behind celebrating the same.

I like Diwali as my favorite festival. I eagerly wait for this festival to arrive. Four to five days of Diwali Celebration are very interesting. It is celebrated as the major festival of Hindus in the month of October or November.

Pre- Preparation for Diwali

The whitewashing of shops and houses is done prior to the festival. All the rooms and places inside and outside of the house are cleaned. People believe that goddess Lakshmi visits those houses which are neat and clean and shower her blessings. We buy earthen lamps and my mother washes and dries all the diyas which have to be lit up on that day. New idols of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi are bought. The market is full of chaos and crowd from one week before the festival. Kids and children are very much excited to buy new clothes.

Celebration of Diwali

Dhanteras is celebrated one day before Diwali. There is a provision of buying new utensils or new things for the day of Dhanteras. On the day of Diwali, we decorate our house with rangoli and flower garlands. People wear new attire and worship Lord Ganesha and Lakshmi, considered to be the sign of prosperity and wealth. The doors and windows are kept open so that Goddess Lakshmi may find her way through that. All the houses and shops are decorated with lighted diyas, lights and candles. Children are busy lighting firecrackers.

I like this festival as it is filled with simplicity. I feel very nice when the whole family prays together and we get sweets and laddus as Prasad. The whole colony looks beautiful and lighted.

Rangoli Competition in School on the Occasion of Diwali

Rangoli making is a prominent activity on the festival of Diwali. In our schools before Diwali Holidays are granted, a Rangoli Competition is organized. The students interested in Rangoli making, participate in the competition, and work as a team. Students are very excited about this competition. We can see different types of Rangolis prepared by students using flowers, sand, rice, flour, etc. The three best designs are awarded first, second and third price.

It is the best way of initiating festival vibes in us. There is a short programme as pre-celebration of Diwali and sweets are distributed to us.

Religious Beliefs behind Celebrating this Festival

There are many stories behind celebrating this festival. It depends upon different cultures and religious beliefs in different regions of the country. The most accepted story is the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after completing the exile period of 14 years. Lord Rama returned after rescuing his wife Mata Sita from the demon Ravana and killing him. People light Diyas express their gratitude, happiness, and welcome Lord Rama on his arrival to Ayodhya.

If we study all the religious beliefs behind celebrating this festival, we will come to know that the moral is the same i.e. Victory over Evil. The lighted Diyas also symbolizes the removal of darkness and spreading the light of happiness, joy, and power.

Pollution-Free Diwali

Every year lot of Firecrackers are burnt on the festival of Diwali which pollutes the atmosphere. The use of firecrackers must be stopped. The pollutants released by burning and fireworks are harmful to us and also deteriorating the Air Quality Index (AQI). We should try to make Diwali a pollution-free Diwali, by saying “No” to Crackers. Infants and animals also fear the noise which comes after burning the crackers and bombs.

1-minute Speech on My Favourite Festival

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I am thrilled to talk about my favourite festival, the Festival of Lights, known as Diwali. It is a time of joy, light and laughter that brings people together, regardless of who they are and where they come from.

Why do I love Diwali? It is that one time of the year when the world around me transforms into a fairy tale. Every home, street and city is lit up with the glow of a thousand lamps. The sight of sparkling lights against the dark night sky is simply magical. It feels as if the stars have come down to Earth to celebrate with us.

Another reason why I adore Diwali is the tradition of creating rangoli. We draw colourful patterns on the ground to invite good luck into our homes. The sight of intricate designs and vibrant colours always fills my heart with happiness.

Diwali also tells us a beautiful story of victory of good over evil. It reminds us that no matter how tough the times are, light will always triumph over darkness. This lesson gives me hope and courage to face any challenges that come my way.

In conclusion, Diwali is my favourite festival because it spreads joy, promotes the spirit of sharing, encourages creativity through rangoli, and teaches us an important life lesson. It is a festival that truly brings light into our lives. Thank you.

2-minute Speech on My Favourite Festival

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Today, I want to share my joy and love for a festival that is very close to my heart. It’s none other than Christmas! Yes, Christmas, the festival of joy and giving, is my favourite.

Let’s start with why I love Christmas so much. First, it’s a time when families come together. No matter how far we are, we all make it a point to be home for Christmas. We share meals, gifts, and most importantly, we share love. Even if we have differences, on Christmas eve, we forget everything and celebrate together.

Now, let’s talk about the fun part – the gifts! Who doesn’t like gifts, right? But Christmas gifts are special. We hang our stockings and wait for Santa Claus to fill them with surprises. We also exchange gifts among family and friends. The excitement of opening a gift, the surprise inside, it’s all part of the Christmas magic.

The third reason why I love Christmas is the beautiful decorations. We decorate our homes, streets, and cities with lights and stars. The Christmas tree, filled with ornaments, lights and topped with a star, is a sight to behold. The twinkling lights in the cold winter nights make the whole world seem magical.

But Christmas is not just about gifts or decorations. It’s also about giving and helping those in need. We donate to charities, help out in our local communities, and make sure everyone is included in the celebration. This spirit of giving is what makes Christmas so special.

Lastly, the food! The delicious smell of cakes, pies, roasted turkey, and hot chocolate fills the house. The joy of baking cookies and cakes with family, trying out new recipes, it’s all part of the Christmas fun. Christmas dinner is a feast that we all look forward to.

In conclusion, Christmas is a festival of love, joy, giving, and togetherness. It’s a time when we spread happiness and cheer. It reminds us of the importance of family, love, and kindness. It brings out the best in us.

Amidst frequent air-raids and enough romantic entanglements to power a season’s worth of soap opera plotlines, the murders pile up, and no one is above suspicion in the eyes of bomb-shy Inspector Cockrill (played to perfection by the incomparable Alastair Sim). Five actors swap in and out of the tiiiiitle role as the film anarchically stacks dreams within dreams, trips us up with false starts and fakeout endings, and generally has a blast thumbing its nose at every rule of conventional biopics. This daffy caricature comes courtesy of contemporary cinema’s clearest Dalí descendent, Quentin Dupieux, who proclaims it a “declaration of love to this man.” “Giddy, glitchy, and altogether delightful… a film that Buñuel surely would have appreciated” ( Variety ). Told as a flashback from a news account of a young man’s suicide, the great Bresson’s penultimate feature is a rigorous depiction of a modern world that’s not fit to live in. Centered around a group of youths (all played, in Bresson’s inimitable style, by nonactors), the story eventually focuses on Charles (Monnier), who finds little happiness in chasing women, pursuing religion, furthering his education, and taking drugs. When psychoanalysis fails and some environmental documentary footage deepens his despair, everything seems pointless to Charles. “Even though Bresson has painted a dark picture of wasted youth and beauty, one comes out of the film with a sense of exultation. When a civilization can produce a work of art as perfectly achieved as this, it is hard to believe that there is no hope for it” (Richard Roud).
