  • Correct Spelling and Title: Double-check the spelling of the recipient's name and ensure that you use the appropriate title (e.g., Mr., Ms., Dr., or Professor) if applicable. This shows attention to detail and professionalism.

An introduction for a cover letter should capture the reader's attention and provide a brief overview of your background and interest in the position. Here's how an effective introduction should look:

  • Opening Statement: Start with a strong opening sentence that immediately grabs the reader's attention. Consider mentioning your enthusiasm for the job opportunity or any specific aspect of the company or organization that sparked your interest.

A positive attitude from the get-go will help you stand out as a motivated hotel general manager professional.

That one achievement in your hotel general manager cover letter body

Within the next three to six middle paragraphs, present yourself as the best candidate for the role .

How can you do that without retelling your whole professional resume?

Select one key achievement that covers job-crucial skills and technologies (and is memorable).

Within the body of your hotel general manager cover letter, aim to tell the story of how you achieved your success. Also, write about how this would help out your potential team.

But how do you ensure recruiters, who have read your application this far, remember you?

Choose to close your hotel general manager cover letter in the way that best fits your personality.

Lacking experience: here's how to write your hotel general manager cover letter

As a candidate with no experience, it's important to be honest from the get-go of your application .

Use your hotel general manager cover letter to sell your unique talents. Choose an accomplishment from your academic background or your volunteer work to show the skills that are relevant to the role.

Focus on your career objectives and how you see the job to align with them. Be specific and, at the same time, realistic about where you picture yourself in five years.

Key takeaways

Turning your hotel general manager cover letter into a success is all about staying authentic to yourself and relevant to the job:

  • Be creative with your hotel general manager cover letter introduction by stating something you enjoy about the company (that is genuine) or about your skill set (to get the recruiters' interested);
  • Use single spacing and have a one-inch margin wrapping all around the content of your hotel general manager cover letter;
  • Select just one past achievement from your career or life to tell a story of how you've obtained job-crucial skills and how they'd be beneficial to the role;
  • The finishing paragraph of your hotel general manager cover letter doesn't necessarily have to be a signature but could be a promise of what you plan to achieve in the role;
  • Instead of focusing on your lack of experience, spotlight your transferable skills, one relevant achievement, and career dreams.

Candidat - Best Hotelier

AccorHotels

Campaign - Ada EGOROVA - General Manager, AccorHotels Moscow

Cette candidature n'est disponible qu'en anglais / This application is only available in English.

As Steve Jobs said “The only way to do great work is to love what you do”. This is exactly the moto of my life. My work is my love and my passion and I strongly believe that there should be no limits for our dreams. Being 1st Russian Hotel General Manager in one of the biggest international hotel company I know that success starts from belief.

I was born at the Black Sea cost of Russia in Sochi city, the most famous Russian resort and the main business where all citizens were engaged in was hospitality. Meanwhile, in 90s there were no real knowledge and traditions in this industry and nobody really cared about such things like welcoming, service, personal approach and guests’ satisfaction.

I have graduated from Sochi State University of Hotel Affairs and Tourism in 1995 and I was really lucky to start my career at first internationally managed hotel Radisson SAS Lazurnaya Sochi, which was just opened in the city. By that time it was one of the best hotels in Russia. It was a great school, because my managers paid great attention to the trainings and development of the staff. In 1999 among 4 employees who achieved the best results I was sent to Cornell University School of Hotel Administration (Ithaca, New-York, USA) for Professional Development Program, which made me completely fall in love with hospitality business.

In 2002 I decided to expand horizons of my career and moved to Moscow. Here I joined ACCOR Company for pre-opening of Novotel Moscow Centre.

In 2007-2008 I went for International Hospitality Management Program at ACCOR Academy / IMHI ESSEC Business School (Paris, France), which is one of the most important training programs for high potential managers who are considered by the company to be General Managers one day. This program became a real impulse for my further development.

In 2009 ACCOR gave me an opportunity not only to became first Russian General Manager, but also to be the first FEMALE General Manager to open a branded hotel in Moscow - Ibis Moscow Paveletskaya, which from the very beginning (2009 – in the middle of a worldwide economic crisis) achieved the best financial and quality results on the market in its category.

This way I have got the unique experience of a first job as General Manager and the first time I opened hotel in this duty. In 2010 the hotel became a winner of Commercial Real Estate prize as the best opening of the year and brought the first ‘Golden Brick’ award to ACCOR in Russia.

In 2011, in view of the successful launch and opening of the Ibis, the company Management offered me another great opportunity to demonstrate my skills and knowledge and it was not an ordinary opening, but again, opening a hotel AND a new brand on the Russian market – Mercure Arbat Moscow hotel. In 2014 I have been asked to open and manage (together with the same team that opened the Mercure Arbat) to open another hotel – the Mercure Moscow Baumanskaya, with the task of building strong sales and operational synergies between the two properties and I started to operate these 2 hotels simultaneously.

The main goal of the team was to make both hotels unique by its service and personal approach to every guest. As a result the hotels have got its stable recognition by our guests. Their positive feedbacks have put both hotels in the Top-3 Moscow hotels at Tripadvisor and placed it above many 5-stars hotels of the city. Today with a big number of newly opened hotels in the city our hotels are still at the 6th and 7th places accordingly among 266 hotels in Moscow.

In 2013 Mercure Arbat Moscow hotel brought the second ‘Golden Brick’ prize to ACCOR as a winner of Commercial Real Estate award as the most successful hotel project. In 2013 and 2014 it became a winner of Tripadvisor travelers’ Choice awards. In 2014 based on 2 million guests feedbacks Mercure Arbat Moscow has been recognized among 650 best hotels and resorts worldwide and got its Expedia® Insiders’ Select™ 2014 award. The same year Mercure Arbat Moscow became a winner of Russian Hospitality Award as a Best Boutique Hotel of 2014. But among many great awards the most precious one is the love of our guests and their willingness to come back.

In September 2015 I took a new step in my career – I have been promoted to ACCORHOTELS largest hotel in Russia and CIS (as well as in Moscow). A 3-brands combo hotel Mercure-Adagio-ibis of 433 rooms and 35 000 sq. m. And I really believe that the great and exciting moments are always ahead.

Reto Moser Named General Manager for the Four Seasons Hotel Moscow

cover letter general manager hotel

Reto Moser

An adventurous spirit, wealth of experience, gourmand’s palate and warm sense of fun are just some of the attributes Reto Moser brings to his new role as General Manager at Four Seasons Hotel Moscow. Continuing a career spanning almost two decades, several continents and many countries, the Swiss native moves to the Russian capital from Cairo where he spent four years as Hotel Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza.

No stranger to the demands of iconic city centre properties, Reto’s new role – his first as a General Manager – will see him take responsibility for the Hotel’s 180 rooms and suites, four restaurants, seven conference rooms and a 3,000-square-metre (32,000 square foot) spa, all just a minute’s walk from the Kremlin and Red Square.

It’s a very different scene from his upbringing in beautiful Bern, "the gateway to the Alps," and his early career as a chef, including time at the historical Hotel Schweizerhof. After seven years in the kitchen, his wanderlust and fascination for world history and culture drew him to the prestigious Swiss Hotel Management School in Lucerne. Upon graduation, he began his management career in the United States specialising in food and beverage operations.

His Four Seasons journey began in 2004, the brand’s familial warmth and impeccable service proving a perfect match for Reto’s ambition and loyalty. Seventeen years later – via Provence (his “happy place”) as well as Beirut, Bangkok and Koh Samui – it’s his friendly approach and desire to support talent that continue to underpin the happy working environment he’s renowned for creating. Fluent in German, English and French, he’s also determined to add some Russian to his repertoire.

“Iconic is a word that is used quite loosely these days,” Reto comments, “but there are few better ways to describe the setting and style of Four Seasons Hotel Moscow. I feel truly privileged to have the opportunity to connect guests to such a rapidly evolving European destination, with all the grandeur of its history, architecture, gastronomy, culture and nature. And I am looking forward to working with the Hotel’s talented team to continue to exceed guest expectations and create new unforgettable experiences for visitors from all over the world.”

When it’s his turn to explore a city, Reto starts with its cuisine. A true foodie and culinary connoisseur, he’s particularly looking forward to sampling Moscow’s inventive and flamboyant restaurant scene. As a keen cyclist, he’ll also be taking to the city’s streets by bike alongside his equally adventurous wife, Naowarat. “It’s the best way to immerse in the details of the destination,” he concludes.
