Toggling [ ]
Experimental Gameplay is found in the world options when creating or editing a world. When turning the option on in an existing world, a copy of the world will be created automatically. Turning the option on disables achievements after the world is created. Once the experimental world is created, it cannot be turned off again. Worlds with the experimental on will have an "Experimental" tag right next to the game mode name in the world menu.
Warnings [ ]
The warning message when attempting to play on an experimental world.
The point of Experimental Gameplay is for the player to look at some not-quite-finished features, which could crash, break, or stop working at any point in future updates. When the player attempts to load the experimental world, it will show a warning message before loading it. Attempting to disable experimental gameplay toggle via external tools could also crash and break the world.

It is recommended to create back up copies of the world when playing on experimental, or not enabling experimental toggle on to avoid breaking the world and having issues in future updates.

With each retail version of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, there are a few features that are currently in an experimental state. Experimental Features can be toggled on for creators who are interested in testing the latest features offered in the preview, and retail versions of Minecraft.
The Experiments toggle list is subject to frequent changes and could have entirely different options from the ones in your own version of Minecraft. Also, the screen shots shown here might look different.

How do I activate an Experimental Features toggle for my world?
You can activate an experimental toggle for any of your new or existing worlds.
Activating experimental features that are still under development means that your world might crash, break, or not work with future updates.
If you're planning to build content that you want to share with the community, it would be best to do it in a non-experimental world.
Toggle Experimental Features in a New World
If you are building a new world from scratch to test experimental features, you can toggle which features you want enabled in the Game Settings.
Under Game settings, navigate down to Experiments and select a toggle to enable the feature.
When you get the popup asking if you're sure, select Turn on Experiments anyway .
Toggle Experimental Features in an Existing World
If you want to add experimental features to an existing world, open that world's game settings and activate the toggles just like you would for a new world.
A copy of your world will be generated automatically after you activate an experimental feature toggle. You can also manually create copies of your world as an extra precaution, in case something goes wrong.
After you select Activate Experiments , a copy of your existing world will be created. The copy will have the same name as the original world with "Copy of..." added in front of it.
Verify that the World has Experimental Features Enabled
After you've created a world that has an experimental feature toggle enabled, your world will get a tag next to the game mode in your Worlds list that says Experimental .
Another way to identify if your world is using experimental toggles is to visit the settings for your world. In the Game world settings, scroll down to the Experiments section to see which experiments are enabled.
Worlds that use experimental features cannot be restored to a non-experimental state.

How to Turn On Experimental Gameplay in Minecraft PE / Bedrock
Matthew Flores

This YourGlobalGamer guide contains information on how to turn on experimental gameplay in Minecraft PE and Bedrock.
Experimental gameplay is a feature that is exclusive to Bedrock Edition. However, in Minecraft Java Edition, experimental gameplay is available with separate data packs.
When the feature is enabled, it allows players to test features that are unfinished or are a work in progress that will eventually release to the public in the near future.
Additionally, experimental gameplay is often enabled when players create a new world, but it can also be enabled on pre-existing worlds in the game.
How to Enable Experimental Gameplay on a New World
How to Enable Experimental Gameplay in an Existing World
How to enable experimental gameplay on android, how to enable experimental gameplay on xbox one, how to enable experimental gameplay on ios, how to enable experimental gameplay on a new world.
The first step is to open Minecraft Bedrock Edition and click on Create New World. Then head to the game settings and scroll down until you see the Experiments tab. Then click on Activate Experiments on the prompt.
Also, ensure that you give the world an exciting and memorable name, making it easier to identify later. Go ahead and stop your server.
Despite its possibility, enabling the experimental feature on an existing world can result in the save file becoming extremely corrupted.
The first step is to stop the server and create a backup server. After this, relaunch the game and tap the Edit icon in the relevant world. Go ahead and enable experiments in your world. Doing this will make you create a copy with the experiments being enabled.
Tap on the Edit on the generated copy of the world which has been generated.
After doing this, enable any different experiments you wish to have on your world and click Play. When the world has fully loaded, click on Save and then Quit. Then proceed to upload the world into your server and then restart it.
The server will now be running smoothly with the experiments you have selected.
Android platforms have a beta feature, which players can join anytime. It is also important to note that once players join the beta program, their standard version of the game will be replaced by the beta version.
For players to join the beta version, head to the official Minecraft app in the Google Play Store. Scroll down until you see the Join the Beta option at the bottom (or click this link) . Select the option and tap on Join. Wait for some minutes and then go ahead and launch your Minecraft application. The beta version will appear after a while, and the standard version will now be replaced with the beta one.
Additionally, if you wish to leave the beta version after a while, you can head to the Google Play Store and move down to the You’re a Beta Tester option. There, tap on Leave. By doing this, your application will switch back to the standard version.
Players may also be required to activate additional experimental features in the game to test the latest features.
Head to the Create New World or Edit World option to do this. For players who are creating a new world, go to the Game setting and scroll down to the Experiments option, where you will see a toggle for activation.
A pop-up will appear that will ask you whether you would like to activate experimental gameplay. Tap on the Activate Experiments option. For players using an existing world, it will create another copy of the world which will have the same name as the original world.
The first step is to head to the Create New World or Edit World setting. When players create a new world, go to the Game setting and move down to Experiments. Click on Activate, and the experimental feature will be activated. If you are using an existing world, activating experimental features will create another copy of the existing world, which will be similar to the original world.
The first step is downloading the Testflight app and installing it on your device. Follow the instructions when the slots are available. When the slots become available, ensure you install the Testflight app and be ready on your device. Go ahead and open the app to see a menu for the game’s preview. Tap on the Accept icon and then choose Install.
After it has finished installing, click Open and then sign in to the game using your Microsoft Account. When you are done, click on Play Preview and then go ahead and activate the experimental features, which is the same procedure similar to Android devices.

How to enable 1.20 Experimental Features in Minecraft Java Edition
This Minecraft tutorial explains how to enable Minecraft 1.20 Experimental Features in Java Edition with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.
Let's explore how to turn on the new 1.20 Features in Java Edition, so that you can try them early.
Steps to turn on the Java 1.20 Experimental Features
How do you turn on the Minecraft 1.20 experimental features in Java Edition?
Starting in 22w42a snapshot, you can access the new 1.20 Experimental Features ( such as camels, bamboo wood set, chiseled bookshelf, and hanging signs ). However, these new features do not install automatically. They are included in a data pack that you can access through the game.
1. Open the Game
First, you need to launch Minecraft Java Edition so that you can create a new world. In this tutorial, we have chosen Java Edition 1.19.3 from the Launcher which was released after snapshot 22w42a ( you can launch any version since snapshot 22w42a ).
Next, choose the Data Packs option in the Create New World menu.
2. Select the Data Pack
Next, select the Data Pack called "update_1_20" which should be found under the Available data packs section.
Once you have selected this data pack, it should appear under Selected ( on the right hand side ). Click on the Done option in the menu.
3. Create the World
Now, you can finish creating your world, just like normal. And once your Minecraft world loads, you will be able to use the new 1.20 Experimental Features ( including camels and hanging signs ).
Be sure to find a Desert Village and check out the new camels. Two players can ride on the same camel at the same time!
Congratulations, you just learned how to turn on the new 1.20 Experimental Features in Java Edition!

How to play experimental 1.21 update features in Minecraft Bedrock
Minecraft is a game with update cycles that take the entire internet by storm. Update 1.21 is no exception to this rule, with millions of players waiting eagerly for the newest content in the best-selling game of all time.
While there is not yet an official release date for Minecraft update 1.21 , there is a general release window around mid-2024, meaning players still have a few months to go. Thankfully, though, there is a way for players to experience some of what the next update has to offer early.
Experimental features of Minecraft 1.21
Check top 50 best Minecraft 1.21 Seeds
The experimental versions of Minecraft 1.21 do not feature all of the upcoming additions and changes to the game. Additionally, these versions of the game also feature many more bugs than normal, as all of the code is experimental.
Some of the biggest and most impressive additions to the experimental versions of the game are the new mobs and blocks. There are new mobs in the breeze, a hostile overworld version of the nether's blaze, and the armadillo, a passive mob that can roll up to protect itself from damage.
The newest addition, as of snapshot 24w05a, known as Minecraft Preview 1.20.71.10 to Bedrock players, is that of the vault block. This locked block contains loot that is individual to each player, a stark contrast to chests that contain shared loot that would need to be divided among players or claimed by the last person standing.
How to install the newest experimental version of Minecraft 1.21 for Bedrock
The first thing those playing Minecraft Bedrock Edition on PC will have to do is open the game's launcher. Once opened, you will need to make sure you have Minecraft for Windows selected. Then, move over to the "Installation" tab and use the green "Install" button underneath the preview header. This will download and install the latest preview available from Mojang.
Once in-game, you need to navigate to the "Experiments" tab within world creation. Here, you will find the toggle for 1.21 content. Set this toggle to on, and then finish making your new world. You should have access to the 1.21 content added to the game this way.
For those playing on the Xbox family of consoles, these preview versions of the game can be accessed and opted into simply by searching for "Minecraft Preview" within the Microsoft Store. Assuming you have either a valid Game Pass subscription or already own Bedrock Edition, you will have access to download the preview.
Once the preview has been downloaded and installed, you need to remember to turn on 1.21 features within the "Experimental" tab during world creation, which is similar to the processes for Java and Bedrock PC.
If you play on iOS or Android, your preview process is slightly different. Apple users need to use the link provided on the Minecraft Feedback website to access the test flight app. From here, you can request an entry into the beta if there are any spots available.
Android users need to navigate to the Play Store, search for the game, and then scroll down until they find the button to opt into the beta. The new features will be applied when relaunching the game, but you must remember to enable the new content using the same steps discussed above.
While the wait for Minecraft 1.21 remains long and grueling, players can take some solace in the fact that Mojang is allowing them to access the new content through these updated snapshots.

[1.2.13] (Bedrock) Question about Experimental Gameplay
Hello guys I am having a hard time finding this question, in the paragraph below it says "
once it's enabled for a world any progress won't be saved"
I did this to my realm that I have, it still saves everyday. I am confused does this mean I can't update it? If not then why is this an option I spent a weeks worth of building on the realm just to see a sneak peak of the future? Can someone explain please.
Use Experimental Gameplay' can be toggled in World Settings. This may break your world so a copy of your world will be created with "[EX]" before the world name. This feature cannot be disabled once it is enabled for a world and any progress will not be saved to the original world.

October 22, 2021 00:15
Hi all, we don't have plans to add the experimental gameplay toggle. We've found that it can break the worlds created for lesson content.
November 17, 2020 18:19
Hello Andrew Kramer ,
Thanks for posting. Unfortunately we do not have the experimental gameplay toggle in the Education Edition.
December 09, 2020 02:38

How to enable experimental features (Minecraft: Java Edition)
In newer snapshot versions and some releases of Minecraft Java Edition, experimental features must now be manually activated via datapacks. For example, the new Crafter can be enabled as part of the "Update 1.21" datapack. At exaroton, we offer you an easy way to activate them.
Activate for new worlds
After you have installed the snapshot on your server, you need to generate a world that has the respective datapacks selected. To do this, go to the Worlds page and click "Generate". Now you can select the preferred datapacks and activate the new features.
Enable datapacks in existing worlds
If you want to enable snapshot features in an existing world, you can enable the required datapacks in your world options . Simply add the datapacks you wish to enable to the "Enabled datapacks" option.

Minecraft preview new update 1.34 for version 1.21.30.23 brings experimental features this aug. 15.
Minecraft Preview new update 1.34 (version 1.019 on PS5) is now live on all platforms, and this is for patch version 1.21.30.23. While this isn’t as big as previous preview patches, there’s still a lot to take in.
Players can expect the experimental bundle feature to be part of this update, as well as various adjustments.
Minecraft Preview New Update Patch Notes:
Experimental Features
A Bundle is an item that lets you stack different blocks or items together in the same inventory slot. Different items normally don’t stack together, so you can end up wasting space by only having a few items in each slot. A Bundle lets you pack those items together so there is no wasted space
Bundles are an experimental feature – to use them, you must turn on the Bundle experiment when creating a new world
A Bundle is an item that can pack different items together into the same stack
A Bundle only fits one stack (usually 64 items) but it can be a mixture of many different item types
You can insert items into a Bundle directly in the inventory
If a Bundle has less than 8 item types inside, the tooltip will show all of them
Otherwise, the tooltip will show the top two rows of items and the others will be hidden below
Use the scroll wheel on mouse, the right stick on a game controller, or tap on a touch device
Developer’s Note: In the original Bundle experiment, you could only pick the top item. We got a lot of feedback that players wanted more flexibility when taking items out. To address this we put a submenu inside the Bundle, which has never been done before in Minecraft!
When selecting an item to remove, the Bundle icon shows that item poking out of the Bundle
When holding a Bundle in hand, you can empty it onto the ground
The Bundle is crafted with one String above one Leather
Developer’s Note: The original prototype for Bundles was much more expensive to craft and used Rabbit Hide, which is only available in certain biomes, so the player had to explore to get their first Bundle. In this version we’ve made it cheaper and something that you can craft at home in almost any biome. We want it to be easy to get Bundles in a new world so you can use it in your early adventures.
The Bundle recipe may not appear as a suggested crafting item, but can still be crafted
When moving items on touch devices, the wrong item icon may appear briefly
