1 Minute Speech on Never Give Up In English

A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of Never Give Up.

It is important to understand that as desirable as success is in life, failure is equally important. Failure, in fact, is merely the stepping stone for success and thus becomes an integral learning process everyone ought to experience.

Thomas Alva Edison, the greatest scientist had said Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. Let us all vow to never give up thus!

never ever give up

Life’s Most Important Lesson: Never Ever Give Up

An important lesson that I learned in my past is to never ever give up : Always persevere. If you fall down, then get back up and try again. It doesn’t matter if it is the first time, or the millionth time, you must always get back up again. Regardless of what challenges you are facing, you have to keep pushing forward. Life isn’t going to slow down for you, so you have to work to keep up. Each time you get up, that is more character, more strength you have developed. It is always important to set goals for yourself. Never stop reaching for the stars. Sometimes tomorrow is about learning from yesterday.

Change Can Be A Good Thing

Sometimes persevering means that you need to start over. If you are feeling depressed , you might need to make an important change in your life. For example, if you are unhappy in your career, you might need to consider a new job or business. If you are unsatisfied with your partner, you may need to make changes in your relationship, or find somebody new. If you are feeling down, it means that you have flat lined. You need to make the changes that are necessary to push your life into a positive direction.

Without Failure There Would Be No Story – Keep Going!

Another important fact to consider is that you don’t have to succeed at everything you do. Sometimes it just matters that you showed up to try. If you are unhappy with your performance, you can always try again tomorrow. People talk themselves out of trying because they are afraid of making a mistake. You can always make a mistake, and that is not an excuse to not even show up.

Some of the most famous people and companies started from humble beginnings. In their first year of business, Coca-Cola only sold 400 Cokes. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team. Dr. Suess’ first children’s book, “And to Think that I Saw It on Mulberry Street”, was rejected by 27 publishers. Vanguard Press, the 28 th  publisher, sold 6 million copies of the book. The book,  Chicken Soup for the Soul  was turned down by 33 publishers before Health Communications agreed to publish it. Since then, over 7 million copies of  Chicken Soup for the Soul, A 2 nd Helping of Chicken Soup for the Soul,  and the  Chicken Soup for the Soul Cookbook  have been sold worldwide, with the books translated into 20 languages.

If Michael Jordan, Dr. Suess, Coca-Cola, and the authors of  Chicken Soup for the Soul,  had given up, then they wouldn’t be the household names that they are today. These inspirational stories serve as living proof that if at first you don’t succeed, you must try and try again.

Always Grateful, But Never Settle

You must also appreciate the people who appreciate you. If somebody isn’t doing the right thing by you, then ask them to either change their ways or move on. You deserve nothing less than the best, and it is your responsibility to produce your best work for others. This is not limited to physical work, but also includes spiritual work. There is never a day when you can’t create or accomplish a new goal. Let life be a learning experience. Don’t let this year be another year of good intentions with unaccomplished goals. If you want to accomplish something, then you need to DO something about it!

To Never Ever Give Up doesn’t always mean you should keep at a useless cause. It means never ever give up on that great life you deserve. You might have to change your approach – the “how” you will get there – but just never ever give up on your dream life. There is always a way if you are willing to find a way!

Denzel Washington: Commit To Your Dreams, and Never Give Up

Denzel washington - keep working.

Denzel Washington gives a passionate speech about the importance of committing to your dreams, and of never letting hardships stop you from pursuing your goals.

Transcript:

"It's not easy. If it was easy, there'd be no Kerry Washington. If it was easy, there'd be no Taraji Henson. If it were easy, there'd be no Octavia Spencer. But not only that, it if were easy, there'd be no Viola Davis. If it were easy, there'd be no Mykelti Williamson, no Stephen McKinley Henderson, no Russell Hornsby. If it were easy, there'd be no Denzel Washington.

"Keep working. Keep striving. Never give up. Fall down seven times, get up eight. Without commitment, you'll never start. But more importantly, without consistency, you'll never finish. Ease is a greater threat to progress than hardship. Ease is a greater threat to progress than hardship, so keep moving, keep growing, keep learning. See you at work."

Rude Customer Has a Disagreement Over $6 - Teen Employees Have the Perfect Response

Teens Applauded For the Way They Handled This Angry Customer

Working in customer service can be challenging, especially when you’re dealing with rude and demanding clients. That’s particularly true for some teens, who work these jobs for part-time money and are often bullied by adults. Perhaps that’s why people are applauding these teen girls for the way they expertly handled an over-the-top customer.

An Angry Customer

See on Instagram

It was a tough day for employees at Keke’s Snow Balls in Texas when an angry woman approached the window. She had placed a pickup order for a snow cone and because of a shift change, the snow cone wasn’t ready. Two days later, the customer came back and demanded a refund of $6.

A girl named Victoria was working the counter and listened to the woman’s complaints. According to Inside Edition , it was immediately clear this woman didn’t want to resolve things in the right way, and was trying to pick a fight. Another employee named Kaeley overheard it all.

“I was just listening in the back and, eventually, I could just hear she’s angry the whole time. So I was like, clearly she just wants to have a problem,” Kaeley recalled to the publication. “And I’m not about that, so I was like, ‘Okay let me just go give her $6 and we can move on, move past this.’ It was $6.”

An Unexpected Turn

At that point, the situation should have been resolved. However, Kaeley noticed the sign outside the window had fallen over during the dispute. So, she opened the window to fix it. That’s when the woman came by, slapped the sign out of the 17-year-old girl’s hand, and called her a derogatory name.

“M’am, please don’t act like that. You’re a grown woman,” Kaeley responded in a video that the restaurant then posted to TikTok . “You’re a grown woman. I’m 17. Get out of here. Don’t come back. Don’t come back. We don’t need your business.”

“I was scared and very confused,” Victoria added. “I wasn’t understanding what was going on.”

A Brilliant Online Reaction

After the owner posted the video online, it went viral and many people reached out to support the girls for their perfect reaction to the customer.

“People were traveling to come and see us from hours away,” the owner, Kyle, told Inside Edition . “We had people reaching out to us on TikTok asking how to tip the girls. We even had people going and leaving Google reviews that haven’t even been to the shop, saying they’re so proud of the girls and how they dealt with it,” he continued.

Kyle explained that he posted the video to remind everyone that the employees behind the counter are people, too. Adults, in particular, should try to remember that oftentimes, these are kids working to save up for cars, school, and other big life steps.

“Mistakes happen, but for you to go up and act like that as an adult, my whole point in uploading that video is to simply remind us all that we need to treat people better,” Kyle added.

"I am proud of the way our supervisor handled the situation," he added in the initial post . "We must strive for better behavior and respect in all interactions. It’s all about just being a kind person and approaching every situation with willingness to come to a good resolution."

We Are All the Same

As Kyle himself said, mistakes happen and no one is perfect. But demanding perfection of others can be a very lonely way to live. Rather than getting upset over an honest mistake and making someone feel bad or yelling at them, lead with grace and understanding. Not only will you help someone else feel respected, but you’ll probably get a better result from the situation, too.

When life doesn’t go our way, it can be easy to overreact or blame someone else. But by remembering that mistakes happen and this too shall pass, we can all live a little more peacefully.

Many of us are in these jobs because we’re trying to provide for our families or ourselves and our futures. Going to work can be hard enough, so remember to thank those who help you in the customer service industry and to tip well when appropriate. After all, we all want to feel appreciated at work.

Grieving Daughter Finds Note In Fossil Purse While Thrifting

Thrifting can net all sorts of treasures. Shoppers can snatch up everything from vintage clothes to mid-century modern furniture to kitschy knick-knacks, all without breaking the bank.

But for one grieving woman, she found a hidden gem that was truly priceless.

Unexpected Thrift Store Find

Photo of a little girl with her father and a black purse.

TikTok/Abrielle Clausing

On January 13, 2021, Abrielle Clausing's world fell apart. Her father unexpectedly passed away from Covid-19. As anyone who has experienced grief knows, the journey isn't a straight one. It ebbs and flows with some days being significantly harder than others.

It was during a "particularly hard grief week" when Abrielle, 24, decided to embark on some retail therapy. She used to love thrifting with her dad, and no one loved a good deal more than he did.

However, she didn't just want to shop for the sake of shopping, she had a very specific item she wanted in mind.

"My sister and I decided to go thrifting and I told her I wanted to find a vintage Fossil brand purse," she explains in a now-viral TikTok video .

And wouldn't you know, Abrielle did indeed end up finding "the cutest vintage Fossil brand purse" - seriously what are the chances?

And as if that wasn't serendipitous enough, it was about to get a whole lot more remarkable.

Inside the purse was a handwritten note:

"When you read this you will be far from me in miles but not in my heart. I'm here. I love you."

She immediately took it as a sign from her beloved dad.

" I knew it was from him," she told People . "I always check the inside of the bag before I buy it to make sure it’s in good condition. When I stuck my hand in it, I felt the piece of paper and when I took it out and found the note, I read it out loud to my sister."

"When I saw the note, it just confirmed that he was with us," she added. "He’s always with us."

Response To The Viral TikTok

www.tiktok.com

Abrielle's heartwarming video has garnered nearly one million views and over 1,000 comments and it's making believers out of every single one of us.

"I'm so afraid that death is final and we just stop existing. But some things can't be explained. There has to be more out there!!"

"This was def him 🥹💙"

"I’m literally crying so hard. Someone would have had to carry me out of the thrift 😭"

"I'm honestly at a loss for words. Wow. Just wow."

Even Fossil weighed in, writing, "What a beautiful note to find. Your dad's love will always be with you. Sending you and your family a big, warm hug."

Her TikTok also opened the floodgates for others to share the signs they've received from lost loved ones.

"My brother passed away & years later I was at a checkout line in the store & at the cash register was a young school photo of him that someone left.... never made sense but I'll never forget it."

"About 30 seconds after bursting in tears thinking about my grandpa a car merged in front of me and the license plate was his name and his age when he died 😭😭"

"When my mom passed, days after I found an email that not me nor my sister had opened or read before. It was an email my mom sent us 4 years before with the message “open it when I’m gone, love, mom”. It had a beautiful letter as an attachment."

Love Lives On

The note Abrielle Clausing found in a Fossil bag while thrifting is now part of a cherished collage.

People.com/Abrielle Clausing

Abrielle has given the note a place of honor, right smack in the middle of a framed collage of her favorite sayings and things.

It's a beautiful reminder that the love she shared with her dad lives on, even though he is gone.

And whether you believe in fate or not, you have to admit the universe had an uncanny way of showing up just when she needed it to.

After all, what are the odds that a stranger penned a note with the exact words she needed to hear, placed it in the exact bag she was looking for, AND that bag ended up in the exact thrift store she was shopping in? Pretty astronomical.

And yet, here we are.

Life is full of unexpected, magical moments that often happen when we least expect it. And sometimes those moments bring us the comfort and connection we need most, reminding us that love...is never truly lost.

If you are in need of a quick boost of inspiration and motivation, you will find that in this post. I am one of those people who loves to get motivated. That sounds weird, right?

Well, a lot of people these days tend to give motivation a hard time because they don’t believe that it has lasting effects. In other words, they believe that what’s most important is your own self-discipline, because that’s what you have to rely on when motivation isn’t there.

And while I do agree with that sentiment in general, I will never pass up a great motivational podcast or YouTube video! 😀 There’s just something about them that even if they might not have lasting effects, they do truly help pump me up in the moment to get work done. And that’s usually what matters to me the most when I am looking for them in the first place.

So, here are the very best short motivational speeches so you can get that quick fix of motivation that you’re looking for, and ultimately move closer to your goals and dreams.

Short Inspirational Speeches

Believe in yourself speeches.

If you lack confidence or you are doubting yourself, these short motivational speeches will help you to believe in yourself again.

1. Rocky’s Inspirational Speech to His Son | ROCKY BALBOA

In less than 5 minutes, you’ll watch Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) explain to his son that if he wants to have the life he desires, he needs to believe in himself. He needs to stop listening to the people that tell him who he is, and instead go be his own person, and stop looking for someone to blame when things aren’t working out for him because ultimately it’s on HIM. This is one of the greatest inspirational speeches of all time.

2. Find Your Purpose | David Goggins – Motivational Speech

David Goggins is truly incredible. A former Navy SEAL, he has broken records and ran more races than you’d imagine. But the one thing that really stands out about him is his mindset.

Listen to this video if you want to be great. He tells you exactly what you need to do to get there.

Also, if you’ve never read David Goggins’ book “Can’t Hurt Me” , I highly recommend it. He talks about his rough upbringing, and how he was able to essentially become an entirely new person to become a Navy SEAL.

3. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF – Motivational Video (ft. Jaret Grossman & Eric Thomas)

This video is all about how important it is to have the proper belief system. If you truly believe that you are one of the best, you will start acting that you are one of the best, and eventually you may just be one of the best.

4. DON’T LET YOUR DREAMS DIE – Motivational Speech

This YouTube short by Mel Robbins is so good, I had to share it. A light bulb went on in my head when I first watched this. If there is something that is always on your mind, don’t let it haunt you forever because you never put yourself out there to try it. Go and DO!

Motivational Speeches About Not Giving Up

The following short motivational speeches are all about not giving up on your dreams. If you are losing hope, these short motivational speeches will inspire you to keep going.

5. Brené Brown It’s Not The Critic Who Counts

This speech will give you chills, and it is packed with great lessons about life. Brené Brown is a researcher who went viral for a Ted Talk, and here she talks about how to overcome critics and to keep believing in yourself no matter what. If you are worried about what people think of you, you NEED to watch this.

6. Amazing Motivational Speech by Denzel Washington

This is another video that gave me chills. The main theme of this famous speech is “ease is a greater threat to progress than hardship”. Stay consistent even when it’s hard. Easy task after easy task won’t get you to where you want to be.

7. Steve Harvey – Inspirational Speech | Motivational Short Video | Incredible You

This short motivational speech by Steve Harvey is short but impactful. If you are someone who stepped out of your comfort zone to pursue something really difficult, and you’re thinking about giving up, this speech may just prevent you from doing so.

8. Ed Mylett on The Power of One More

Ed Mylett shares the story of how his father stayed sober until his dying day, and how Ed himself uses that same philosophy to never give up. Personal stories like these are always the most inspiring.

By the way, if you REALLY want to push yourself and become the best, read Ed Mylett’s most recent book on this same topic, “The Power Of One More” .

Motivational Speeches If You’re Feeling Behind

Are you feeling behind in life? If so, let’s change that. Watch these videos to be reminded that you are on your own unique path. You have no competition other than your past self. These short motivational videos will help you believe that.

9. Before You Feel Pressure – WATCH THIS | by Jay Shetty

Jay Shetty talks to a school class about how there’s no one “perfect” life timeline to follow, and that we are all on our own clock.

10. Kevin Hart Motivational Speech

If you’ve made mistakes in your life (haven’t we all) this is a great story from Kevin Hart (famous comedian and actor) that will remind you of the power of making mistakes and pushing through hard times.

11. Oprah Winfrey | 5 Minutes For The NEXT 50 Years of Your LIFE

In this video, Oprah talks about the importance of really knowing who you are and what you want in your life. She talks about surrounding yourself with great people, and how to have enormous success. “Let excellence be your brand.”

Listen To These If You Need Perspective

Sometimes in life, we get so caught up in the day to day that we forget what truly matters – the people we love. If you are having trouble with something in life, give these videos a listen, because they just might help you realize what is really important.

12. Arnold Schwarzenegger – Organize Your Day | 1 MINUTE MOTIVATIONAL VIDEO

Are you the kind of person who always complains that you don’t have enough time to do something? If so, you’re not alone. We are all busy humans, running around doing a million things. But if you aren’t prioritizing what you know you should be doing, listen to this video.

13. How to Judge Your Life Using 3 Simple Questions | Brendon Burchard Speech| Goalcast

Have you ever heard of Mortality Motivation? It’s essentially what it sounds like… being motivated by the impending reality of your death. It sounds a little morbid, but it’s actually quite beautiful and it can be really beneficial if you harness it for good.

In this video by motivational speaker Brendon Burchard, he shares how a car accident when he was 19 gave him mortality motivation and changed everything for him.

14. FALL, SUFFER AND LEARN | MOTIVATIONAL SPEECH BY OPRAH WINFREY

This speech by Oprah was given to Harvard graduates, and it’s a unique speech because she talks about failing, even after the major success of her television show for over 20 years.

It’s refreshing to hear that even the most successful people fail. What really matters, though, is what you do with your failure. Do you learn from it and move on? Or do you give up?

15. YOU VS YOU – Best Motivational Video

This is a pretty intense video about competition. If your #1 competition is someone else, you need to change your perspective. Your only competition is YOU. The only thing preventing you from moving forward is you.

16. The Speech That Brought This Entire School To Tears

This is a speech about a man who never really paid much attention to his mother, until she passed away. It’s an emotional reminder to cherish the time you have with your loved ones, because you never know if the next time you see them will be the last time.

In my opinion, this speaker embodies many qualities of the best motivational speakers because he really knows how to capture the audience’s attention and pull on their heart strings.

17. 5 Minutes to Start Your Day Right! – MORNING MOTIVATION

This motivational speech is by a Navy SEAL who will remind you to start each day with a task completed, respect everyone, take risks, step up during tough times, and never give up. If you do these things, the next generation, and the generations that follow, will live better lives than we live today.

18. The Real You – Jim Carrey

This video is one of the best motivational speech examples because it reminds you of something so important: sometimes we can be so focused on earning more money, gaining fame, and becoming admired that we lose ourselves or we lose sight of what’s really important to us in the process.

Jim Carrey talks about how he is a great example of that. He got all of the money, fame, and admiration, and admits that that wasn’t really who he was. Sometimes it’s nice to be reminded that money and fame, or even getting to the top of the corporate ladder, while nice, aren’t going to be the thing that brings you fulfillment when it’s all said and done.

19. Ed Mylett Motivational Speech

I posted another motivational video by Ed Mylett above, but if you don’t know much about him, prepare to have your world rocked. He’s probably my absolute favorite motivational speaker because he is successful and he works hard, but he’s also (seemingly) a kind, family guy who’s been through a few things.

In this video, he talks about being “the one” that changed his family tree. Take a listen because I’m sure it’ll get you thinking on whether or not you can be “the one” in YOUR family.

P.S. If you love personal growth content, you should check out Ed Mylett’s podcast . I listen to it every week and it is one of my favorites.

20. If You Feel LOST, LAZY & UNMOTIVATED In Life, WATCH THIS! | Tony Robbins Motivation

If you are someone who is constantly blaming others or your circumstances for your unhappiness, you need to listen to this video by Tony Robbins . Bad things happen to us all, it’s up to you to focus on what you can control.

Great Inspirational Speeches About Hard Work

How hard do you think you work? Could you be doing more? If there’s a little voice inside of your heart that knows you could be doing more and better, these motivational videos about the value of hard work will help you push yourself.

And a side note: your chances of having good luck increase the harder and longer you work.

21. You’re Not Tired, You’re Just Weak – David Goggins Motivation

If you’re feeling lazy or like you don’t want to do something, watch this video til 2:25 . It will give you the push you need to put your head down and do the work. It’ll remind you to keep pursuing your goals and to keep challenging yourself. Key takeaway: push yourself beyond your perceived limits.

22. Hard Work & Patience – A Gary Vaynerchuk Original Film

If you want to be motivated to work hard, listen to Gary Vaynerchuk. Gary Vaynerchuk is a creative genius known for his marketing tactics. This famous motivational speech is all about playing “the long game”, as in, working for a long time and having patience instead of working hard for a short period of time and expecting to win quickly.

23. OBSESSION – Best Motivational Speech

This is one of my favorite short motivational speeches because it makes me feel a little more normal for being “weird”. I’m the kind of person who chooses to work on the weekends instead of hanging out with people. Crazy, right? But it’s because I’m working toward a dream of mine and it’s something that’s really important to me. The most important thing to remember: it’s okay to devote yourself to something. It’s the only way to get what you want in life.

24. WORK LIKE HELL – Best Motivational Video

This is a series of motivational speeches about doing a little bit more and outworking your competition. I’m not going to lie – I’m up late writing this post and listening to this very video is what’s motivating me to keep going.

25. The video EVERY woman should watch!

Whether or not you’re a Rachel Hollis fan may be up for debate (and that’s okay!) but I happen to think she’s a great motivational speaker. This entire speech will inspire you to work hard and take massive action – today.

26. NEVER SURRENDER – Powerful Motivational Speech (by Kobe Bryant)

This one minute video by the late Kobe Bryant is one of the most famous short speeches. I read a book recently by his former personal trainer and I learned that Kobe really outworked everyone. He talks about a quote in this video that really stuck with him, and I think it’s great advice if you’re the kind of person who needs motivation to keep working hard.

Motivational Speeches About Working Smart

Have you ever heard the saying “work smarter, not harder”? That saying is all about ensuring that the work you are doing is actually efficient. Are you getting to where you want to go with all of the work that you are putting in? Are you getting closer to your goals and your dreams? Or are you sprinting like a hamster on a wheel and just running in circles?

Here are great videos on the importance of working hard but also working intentionally.

27. SET SYSTEMS RATHER THAN GOALS – Motivational Speech – James Clear

A goal gives you a sense of direction, but if you don’t spell out precisely how you are going to get to a goal, it is useless. You must develop systems. Listen to this James Clear video to gain valuable life lessons.

By the way, James Clear is an author who wrote perhaps my favorite book of all time: “Atomic Habits” . It’s life-changing if you haven’t read it yet.

28. Matthew McConaughey | 5 Minutes for the NEXT 50 Years of Your LIFE

This is one of the best motivational speeches of all time about how to live a great life for YOU. It’s filled with little pieces of wisdom that’ll really get you thinking about how you live your life and in what direction you want to go.

29. Visualization is the key – Bob Proctor

Do you believe in the Law of Attraction? If not, I have to say I’m surprised! I’ve experienced it in my own life more than once, and it is incredibly powerful. Here’s a great video that sums up the power of visualization, and if you want to learn more about the Law of Attraction or manifestation in general, read this post .

This video shows the true power of words, thoughts, and feelings that you have.

“Don’t Give Up”

Jim Valvano (Jimmy V) was an American basketball player, coach, and broadcaster. In this speech, given shortly before he died from cancer, Valvano announced the beginning of the V Foundation for Cancer Research. This speech was originally delivered at the ESPYs on March 4, 1993.

Speech Transcript

I can’t tell you what an honor it is to even be mentioned the same breath with Arthur Ashe. This is something I certainly will treasure forever. But as was said on the tape, and also, I don’t have one of those things going with the cue cards, so I’m going to speak longer than anybody else who’s spoken tonight. That’s the way it goes. Time is very precious to me. I don’t know how much I have left and I have some things that I would like to say. Hopefully at the end, I’ll have something that will be important to other people, too, but I can’t help it. Now when I’m fighting cancer, everybody knows that, and people ask me all the time about how you go through your life and, “How’s your day?”

And nothing has changed for me, as Dick said. I’m a very emotional, passionate man. I can’t help it, that’s being the son of Rocco and Angelina Valvano. It comes with the territory, right? We hug, we kiss, we love.

And when people say to me, “How do you get through life?” Each day’s the same thing. To me, there are three things we all should do every day. If we do this every day of our life, you’re going to … What a wonderful … Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think, you should spend some time in thought. And number three is you should have your emotions moved to tears. Could be happiness or joy, but think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that’s a full day. That’s a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you’re going to have something special.

And so, I can’t help … I rode on the plane up today with Mike Krzyzewski, my good friend, and a wonderful coach. What people don’t realize, he’s a 10 times better person than he is a coach and we know he’s a great coach. He’s meant a lot to me in these last five or six months with my battle. But when I look at Mike, I think we competed against each others as players. I coached against him 15 years, and I always have to think about what’s important in life. To me, it’s three things: where you started, where you are, and where you’re going to be. Those are the three things that I try and do every day. And when I think about getting up and giving a speech, I can’t help it. I have to remember the first speech I ever gave. I was coaching at Rutgers University. That was my first job.

And I was the freshman coach. That’s when freshmen played on freshmen teams. And I was so fired up about my first job. I see Lou Holtz, Coach Holtz here. What was it like the first job you had, right? The very first time you stood in the locker room to give a pep talk. That’s a special place, the locker room, for a coach to give a talk. So my idol as a coach was Vince Lombardi. And I read this book called Commitment to Excellence by Vince Lombardi. And in the book, Lombardi talked about the first time he spoke before his Green Bay Packer team in a locker room, they were perennial losers. And I’m reading this, and Lombardi said, he was thinking, “Should it be a long talk? A short talk?” But he wanted to be emotionally, so he said, Be brief.”

And this is what he did. Normally, you get in a locker room, I don’t know, 25 minutes, a half hour before the team takes the field. You do your little X and O’s, and then you give the great Knute Rockne talk, we all do. Speech number 84, you pull them right out, you get ready, get your squad ready. Was the first one I ever gave. And I read this thing, Lombardi, what he said was, he didn’t go in, he waited. His team was wondering, “Where is he? Where’s this great coach?” He’s not there. 10 minutes, he’s still not there. Three minutes before they have to take the field, Lombardi comes in, bangs the door open, and I think you all remember what great presence he had, right? Great presence. And he walked in and he just walked back and forth like this, just staring at the players. And he said, “All eyes on me.”

And I’m reading this in his book, I’m getting a picture of Vince Lombardi before his first game. And he said, “Gentlemen, we will be successful this year. You can focus on three things and three things only. Your family, your religion, and the Green Bay Packers.” And the rest of them, they knocked the walls down, the rest was history. I said, “That’s beautiful! I’m going to do that.” Your family, your religion and Rutgers basketball. That’s it. I had it. Listen, I’m 21 years old. The kids I’m coaching are 19, all right? And I’m going to be the greatest coach in the world, the next Lombardi. And I’m practicing right beside the locker room, the manager’s telling me, “You gotta go in.” Not yet, not yet. Family, religion, Rutgers basketball. All eyes on me. I got it, I got it.

And now finally he said, “Three minutes!” I said, “Fine.” True story, I go to knock the doors open just like Lombardi. Boom. It didn’t open. I almost broke my arm. It didn’t open, now I’m down, the players are looking. “Yo, coach. Help the coach up, help him up.” And now I did like Lombardi, I walked back and forth, and I was going like that with my arm, get the feeling back in it. And finally I said, “Gentlemen, all eyes on me.” and these kids wanted to play, they’re 19, “Let’s go.” I said, “Gentlemen, we’ll be successful this year. If you could focus on three things and three things only.” I said, “Your family, your religion, and the Green Bay Packers.” I did that. I remember that.

I remember where I came from. It’s so important to know where you are. I know where I am right now. How do you go from where you are to where you want to be? And I think you have to have an enthusiasm for life. You have to have a dream, a goal you have to be willing to work for.

I talked about my family. My family is so important. People think I have courage. The courage in my family is my wife Pam, my three daughters here, Nicole, Jamie, Leanne, my mom who is right here, too.

I just got one last thing. I urge all of you, all of you, to enjoy your life, the precious moments you have to spend each day with some laughter and some thought, to get your emotions going, to be enthusiastic every day. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Nothing great can be accomplished without enthusiasm to keep your dreams alive in spite of problems.” Whatever you have, the ability to be able to work hard for your dreams to come true, to become a reality. Now I look at where I am now and I know what I want to do. What I would like to be able to do is to spend whatever time I have left and to give maybe some hope to others. The Arthur Ashe foundation is a wonderful thing. And AIDS, the amount of money pouring in for AIDS is not enough, but it is significant.

But if I told you it’s 10 times the amount that goes in for cancer research, I also tell you that 500,000 people will die this year of cancer. And I’ll also tell you that one in every four will be afflicted with this disease. And yet somehow we seem to have put it in a little bit of the back burner. I want to bring it back on the front table. We need your help. I need your help. We need money for research. It may not save my life, it may save my children’s lives. It may save someone you love. And it’s important. And ESPN has been so kind to support me in this endeavor and allow me to announce tonight that with ESPN’s support, which means what? Their money, and their dollars, and they’re helping me. We are starting the Jimmy V Foundation for cancer research.

And its motto is, “Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up.” And that’s what I’m going to try to do every minute that I have left. I will thank God for the day and the moment I have. And if you see me smile and maybe give me a hug cause that’s important to me, too. But try if you can, to support, whether it’s AIDS or the cancer foundation, so that someone else might survive, might prosper, and might actually be cured of this dreaded disease.

I can’t thank ESPN enough for allowing this to happen and I’m going to work as hard as I can for cancer research. And hopefully we’ll be … maybe we’ll have some cures and some breakthroughs, and I’d like to think I’m gonna fight my brains out to be back here again next year for the Arthur Ashe recipient. I want to give it next year.

I know I’ve got to go. I’ve got to go, and I got one last thing. I’ve said it before and I’m gonna say it again. Cancer can take away all my physical abilities. It cannot touch my mind. It cannot touch my heart. And it cannot touch my soul. And those three things are going to carry on forever. I thank you and God bless y’all.

One Minute Runner

It all started with a one minute run, “never give up” – the shortest speech you’ve never heard yet it can change your life.

There was one speech that many people these days never knew about. It was so short many said it wasn’t true. But for those who believed it was true, yes the speech was short and yes it changed a lot of people’s lives.

This is not the 246-word speech of Abraham Lincoln during the Gettysburg Address in 1963. It’s not the 135-word 2nd inaugural speech of George Washington either although both speeches went into history books for their worthy messages.

It’s not also the million dollar speech by Donald Trump nor the excellent speech of Steve Jobs at Stanford University in 2005.

“One man almost committed suicide but he chose to Never Give Up. He completely turned is life around and helped millions of people. See my post on Og Mandino”

This speech changed the mindset of nations and consequently changed the course of history of the world. Yes it inspired people to be strong and fight and go to war for the reward of peace and prosperity in the future. Yet it was so short, the speaker said less than 10 words and he was done!

No it’s not one of those awards speeches that surprised the audience because the awardee said ” Thank you so much, I got to go” nor the poetic ones like ” I shall be so brief that I am done” type.

When you are trying to achieve something and it seems so elusive. When you think you’ve given everything but it just seems impossible to reach your dream. When you think the world is against you, and no one seems to be by your side. When even your inner self is telling you can’t do it, when your body is screaming from pain and exhaustion…

“NEVER GIVE UP

NEVER GIVE UP

NEVER GIVE UP”

-Winston Churchill

Yes, those nine words are what we need when obstacles stand in the way to our goals. When all the elements of the earth seem to unite and bring us down… NEVER GIVE UP.

I got so captivated by this speech that I immediately printed and posted it in my room during the college days, it was so powerful it helped me to persist in many challenges, including my last 50 Miler Ultramarathon. The problem I have is that I couldn’t get a hold of the original recording of that speech, and the whole world-wide web seems to be pointing to Churchill’s speech in October 29, 1941 to the boys at Harrow School.

Nevertheless, during those tough times, those times when you have to make a decision. Decisions that can make or break your future and destiny, you only have to remember those 3 words and repeat 3 times.

NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER GIVE UP

Here’s a transcript and the recording of the closest thing to the speech above, it is equally short and life changing as well.

Never give in, never give in, never! neve! never! in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy

Now how to never give up and succeed???

Never Give Up

If I could say one thing to the young people of today, it would be this: Never give up. Keep trying and pushing and struggling, even if you don’t know what your goal is or why you would want to achieve it.

As you march down the street not giving up, hold your head high and swing your elbows. People will recognize you as someone who won’t give up, and they will get out of your way. Some of them will even hide.

Some will try to discourage you. They’ll say that what you’re doing is “illegal,” or a “sin,” or a violation of the health code. They may cling to your legs, causing you to drag them along, or jump onto your back, pleading, “In the name of God, please stop what you’re doing!”

Keep going. Rest assured, they’re jealous.

“We’re not jealous, honestly,” they may say. “Just please stop!” Maybe you’ve struck a nerve.

“No, you haven’t struck a nerve,” they’ll say. “What you’re doing is just awful, and we’d like you to stop!”

Let that be your inspiration. Shake off the naysayers and trudge on, through the mud and the filth and the slime, knowing that you have a higher purpose. Remember, nobody liked van Gogh’s work, and if nobody likes yours it’s probably a sign that you’re a genius.

Look to the horizon. See that little dot? No, not that one—the one that’s even farther out. You can barely see it. Now don’t stop until you reach it. Take out your machete and hack a new path through the jungle, even if there is an old path just a few feet away. Fend off the monkeys of “good manners” and the sloths of “patience.”

We are born with the instinct not to give up. As babies, we cry and scream until we get what we want. But somewhere along the line we lose that ability. People talk us out of our crazy ideas—people who live in the so-called real world, where things “make sense.” They’ve never attempted the impossible. But you have, many, many times.

Keep pushing ahead—not in a way that seems pushy but in a way that says you won’t stop. Some people say you shouldn’t bang your head against a wall. Tell that to the woodpecker.

Along the way, there will be compromises—bribes and torture and “hunting accidents.” You may have to engage in unnatural sex acts. But don’t give up. With each unnatural sex act, you will be one step closer to your goal.

When you finally reach the first stage of success, congratulate yourself. But remember that there are twenty-four more stages of success.

Some people may ask, “If I take a rest, even a little one, is that the same as giving up?” Yes, it is. But if you need to pretend to give up—so that people will leave you alone—go ahead. Then keep doing what you do, but even harder.

Several years ago, there was a man who wouldn’t give up. He was just an actor, but he had bigger things in mind, in the world of politics. People tried to talk him out of his wild-eyed notions, but he wouldn’t listen. And that man was John Wilkes Booth.

Keep pushing and scraping and clawing and begging. Even in your dreams, don’t give up. If you dream that you are wearing nothing but underpants, try to make them expensive, executive underpants.

Eventually, all your determination will pay off. The same people who mocked your ideas and tackled you will now claim to love your vision. “We love it! We love it!” they’ll say. They’ll tell you that the governor is interested in your ideas and will bundle you off in a car to the governor’s mansion. But when you pass under the stone archway you’ll notice that it doesn’t say “Governor’s Mansion” but “Insane Asylum.” Jump out of the car and run into the woods. Keep running. Never give up running. ♦

Essay on Never Give Up

Never give up is the disposition that one should convey and live his/her existence with, regardless of the circumstance is. One should continue battling and battling with the chances and should sit tight for the day when he/she will discover what he/she has really been searching for in his/her life.

Disappointment isn’t a possibility for anybody. Despite the fact that you have fizzled in any interaction, you should stand up and rehash it, one way or the other, you ought to never abandon your fantasies.

One ought to never abandon his/her objectives, and one ought to never abandon a battle that he/she is accomplishing for achieving something which is vital throughout everyday life. This mentality has incredible significance in our lives. To never give up is an ethic that relatively few individuals have.

One point that each person should keep in his/her brain is that no one in this whole world is awesome and nobody could at any point be. Everybody commits errors, and it isn’t the missteps that exacerbate you than others; it is your conduct after those slip-ups. Assuming you right those slip-ups and accomplish your objective, you are the saint, and in the event that you abandon your fantasies only for a misstep that you made, then, at that point, you never had any objective or dream on which you were working in any case.

One ought to consistently recall that regardless of whether you are buckling down for your objectives, there would consistently be an individual who is working much harder for the comparable objectives and it is on you whether you need him/her to win or you will contend energetically and win it for yourself.

Achievement isn’t everybody’s favourite thing in the world. It requires heaps of restless days and evenings, bunches of sweat and a lot of difficult work and it must be accomplished on the off chance that you never abandon the little disappointments that you will look all the while.

On the off chance that you give up after your first disappointment, you will know what you fouled up, yet you won’t ever get familiar with the correct method to get things done. Each time you commit an error and neglect to accomplish your objective, you will know something more that ought not to be finished. Along these lines, by the interaction of disposal alone, you will continue to draw nearer to your objective, lastly, show up at an idiot-proof approach to finish things.

In the event that you abandon your objective after a solitary attempt, or without attempting by any means, you won’t ever know the correct method of getting things done. Disappointments reveal to us that we are accomplishing something incorrectly, compelling us to change follow and learn new things simultaneously. We need to remain refreshed in case we are to hold tight to our fantasies, on the grounds that there is no reason for doing likewise and rehashing our errors. By dealing with various approaches to finish something, we accomplish flawlessness, turning into a specialist in our field simultaneously.

You can foster the idea of not giving up by tolerating that you can be tenacious, appreciating its significance and having clear objectives. Fortunately, you needn’t bother with the extraordinary ability to persevere until you accomplish your goal. With training, difficult work and assurance, you can have everything necessary to continue to attempt till you get what you need.

Paragraph on Never Give Up

Students are often asked to write a paragraph on Never Give Up in their schools. And if you’re also looking for the same, we have created 100-word, 200-word, and 250-word paragraphs on the topic.

Let’s take a look…

Paragraph on Never Give Up in 100 Words

Always keep trying, even when things get hard. If you don’t give up, you can reach your goals. Remember, it’s okay to make mistakes. Mistakes help us learn and grow. When you feel like stopping, take a deep breath and keep going. You are strong and can do anything you set your mind to. Believe in yourself and never lose hope. Even if it takes time, keep going step by step. Each small effort adds up to something big. So, no matter what happens, never, ever give up! You can do it!

Paragraph on Never Give Up in 200 Words

No matter how hard things seem, always keep trying. When something is tough, it’s okay to feel sad or frustrated, but remember to never stop trying. Whether it’s learning a new game, riding a bike, or solving a tricky math problem, giving up won’t help. Imagine if you stop trying to ride a bike the first time you fall down, you’ll never enjoy the fun of riding it. Making mistakes is a part of learning, and each time you try again, you get better. Just like a seed that needs water and sunlight to grow into a flower, you need patience and determination to succeed. Even when things get tricky, tell yourself, “I won’t give up!” and keep going. Ask for help when you need it, and remember that it’s okay to take a break if you feel tired. Believe in yourself, be brave, and keep going – you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve when you never give up.

Facing challenges can be tough, but it’s important to keep trying and not give up. When things become difficult, it’s easy to feel like quitting, but remember that success often comes after many failures. Think of a seed planted in the ground—it takes time, sunlight, and water before it grows into a strong tree. Similarly, your efforts and perseverance will lead to success. It’s like riding a bicycle for the first time; you might fall, but with practice, you’ll soon be riding confidently. Each setback is a chance to learn and grow stronger. Remember, even famous inventors like Thomas Edison faced failures before creating the light bulb. So, don’t let obstacles discourage you. Instead, use them as stepping stones to reach your goals. Embrace challenges as opportunities to prove your resilience and determination. Imagine yourself as a hero in a story facing obstacles but never giving up until you reach the happy ending. Believe in yourself, stay positive, and keep moving forward. With hard work and a never-give-up attitude, you can conquer anything that comes your way.

The Power of Never Giving Up

Forging a good life from the ashes of the past..

Winston Churchill, known for his powerful speeches and writings, once said, "Never, never, in nothing, great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force, never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy." This quote, delivered during a challenging time in history, became a symbol of resilience and determination. But how does it relate to finding happiness and peace in our own lives?

The Weight of the Past

In my 30 years of experience helping people improve their lives, I've found that one of the biggest obstacles to happiness is the burden of the past. Past events, whether things we've done or things that have been done to us, can hold us back from living a fulfilling life. We all have failures, regrets, and painful experiences. We may have gone through divorces, job losses, relationship struggles, or faced mental health challenges. These experiences can leave us feeling ashamed and wanting to give up. We might even resort to unhealthy coping mechanisms to numb the pain.

Choosing Resilience

But the truth is, our past does not define our future. It may influence us, but it doesn't dictate our path. We have the power to shape our lives through the choices we make. Churchill's words remind us that even when facing overwhelming adversity, we can choose resilience, perseverance, and unwavering resolve. We can choose to learn from our past, forgive ourselves and others, and move forward with courage and hope.

A New Day, A New Beginning

No matter what our past holds, today is a new day, and we can focus on making it a good one. You might be thinking, "Dr. Puff, you don't know what I've done. I've made terrible mistakes and experienced devastating failures." I understand. Many of us have. It's part of being human.

The Power of Perseverance

The difference between those who find happiness and those who don't is perseverance. We all face challenges and hardships, some more than others. But the key to happiness is never to give up, no matter what we face.

Jarvis Jay Masters: A Story of Hope

Let me tell you about a man named Jarvis Jay Masters. He's currently incarcerated in San Quentin State Prison on charges of murder, having been sent there in 1981 for armed robbery. In such a situation, many of us might give up. But Masters didn't. He realized his life was more than his past, and he chose to change. He delved into mindfulness and found a path to inner peace and transformation, even in the most challenging circumstances.

Masters studied meditation , wrote books, and even taught others. Despite being 62 years old and having spent most of his adult life in prison, he hasn't given up. He's made a significant impact on his own life, the lives of others in prison, and people around the world.

Steps to a Good Life

So, how do we start working towards a good life? Here are the steps:

  • Acknowledge Our Past: We need to be truthful about our past mistakes. This isn't about dwelling on them but acknowledging them so we can move forward.
  • Learn and Grow: We need to look at our past as a teacher, asking ourselves what we can learn from our mistakes and how we can grow from them.
  • Forgive Ourselves and Others: Holding onto shame , regret, or resentment only keeps us stuck. Forgiveness is key to moving forward.

Seek Help: We don't have to go through this alone. Seeking help from loved ones or professionals can be invaluable in our journey toward healing and growth.

  • Focus on the Present: We need to see each day as a new opportunity to make our lives better.

The Journey to Self-Forgiveness

Self-forgiveness is a crucial step in creating a good life. If we don't forgive ourselves, we remain trapped in a cycle of shame and regret. Here's how to achieve self-forgiveness:

  • See Your Past as a Teacher: Ask yourself what you can learn from your mistakes and how you can grow from them.
  • Forgive Yourself and Others: Let go of shame, regret, and resentment.
  • Seek Help: Share your story with someone who loves you unconditionally and can offer support without judgment.

Resilience and Action-Oriented Hope

Building a good life is not easy. It takes time, effort, and resilience. We will face setbacks, but we must normalize them as part of the growth process. We need to cultivate a resilient mindset and find inspiration in the stories of others who have overcome challenges.

speech on topic never ever give up

Hope is essential. It fuels us to pursue our goals and become happy individuals. We must foster a hopeful mindset and cultivate tools that nurture hope even in the darkest times. Gratitude , focusing on small victories, expressing appreciation, and recognizing each day as a fresh start are all powerful tools.

Creating a good life requires hope, forgiveness, action, and resilience. No matter what we've done or what has been done to us, we can choose to start today as a new day and commit to making our lives better. By taking each day as a fresh start, acknowledging our past, learning from our mistakes, forgiving ourselves and others, and cultivating resilience, we can create a fulfilling life that we can be proud of.

Remember, as Churchill said, "Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never."

Write a Speech on Hope. Never Give Up

keynote speakers

We all know our emotions influence us, and they make a strong case on the moods of others. Nobody teaches us about how our feelings influence our actions or others. We do it instinctively.

You speak soothingly to help calm or encourage someone, inspire them into action, or fear them into your shadow. Now use this kind of emotion to help you craft a speech to never give up.

As a keynote speaker for years, I've been crafting speeches and asking, What is the feeling I  want audiences to feel in my speech? I know if I get the feeling right, inspiring them to action is much more comfortable. If you're going to write a speech about hope, decide what emotional state you need the audience to feel along the way.

For instance, I'm a funny inspirational speaker ; my job is to inspire. I do this with stories and humour. According to Merriam-Webster's dictionary definition inspiration is the act of drawing in and moving people through intellect and emotion. I've always felt an excellent motivational speech does both.

APPEAL TO EMOTION AND LOGIC

It would help if you appealed to emotion and logic. Use emotion to compel people and logic to build a case. Emotion moves you, and reason involves the research and steps to get there.

I like audiences to leave energized with a sense of mission. You can't do that without joining forces of emotion and logic.

We've all experienced presentations that have one but not the other. A strictly logical speech usually involves PowerPoint. It layers in a lot of information. If the information is well organized, and the statistics paint a compelling picture, it can still move people to action.

As a keynote speaker , I've watched hundreds of technical guest speakers. Most highly logical talks are intensely dull. They present the necessary information, but they leave you restless and wanting less not more.  You lost me at hello.

Some talks are highly emotional. Usually involving a personal story, these talks can be very gripping. When someone talks about their hardships, it causes you to feel the way they feel or felt. You can be dragged through an emotional rollercoaster and hopefully lifted at the other side.

I remember speaking in Minneapolis for 2,000 insurance agents.

The plenary speaker before me took the stage and launched into a story about her son committing suicide. I was on the edge of my seat, feeling her agony. I could imagine the regret, the guilt and the internal pain she woke up with every day.  It was heart-wrenching. I cried. I felt sad. At some points, I even felt angry.

I was transported from the formal convention ballroom into this world of sadness and pain. From time to time, I had to look at my phone to disengage my tears. It was too much for me.

My job was to get up and make the audience laugh after this. I could understand why the meeting planner stacked the agenda this way. However, fear and anger had split the audience up inside. It was a tall order. I was nervous.

I didn't have to be. The masterful keynote speaker magically transported the audience out of our sadness and into inspiration. With a nearly invisible touch, she pulled us from sorrow into hope. It wasn't an accident; she knew what she was doing.

She had mastered the art of engaging emotions: the happy and the sad ones.

Too often, we look for strategies that will shift people out of challenging emotional spaces. But we don't have to suffer in silence with painful emotions.

During difficult times we need to be there for one another. It means leaning into our emotions, not leaning away from them. Most people don't have a way to experience or express feelings, so when they see a keynote speaker do this, it permits them to feel.

If you are writing a speech on hope to never give up, remember to layer in emotion and logic.

Start with your logical points and build emotion around them. This usually includes personal stories. Let people know why this topic is essential. Use feeling to do it.

Instead of Defending your dignity be real with people. When you are vulnerable others will be too.

Here's how you write a speech to never give up:

Tell personal stories.

Audiences are distracted. To get an audience's attention, you need to use stories to transport them from where they are to somewhere else. Being vulnerable and sharing your information permit audiences to feel their pain. A speech about never giving up requires personal stories to do that. Chose a story that means something to you. Recognize how sad feelings transform into hopeful ones. To move someone from defeated to hopeful you need to help them feel both states. Use your story to do that.

Use emotive language.

Some words have more emotion attached to them than others. Words like abandon, slash, attacked, cowardly vicious all paint a picture in your head. They evoke emotion along with that picture. String the right words along, and you create a powerful emotional feeling in an audience. These words make a speech about hope.

Feel the feeling when you tell the story.

If a story is sad, you need to bring that emotional feeling into the telling. Otherwise, you risk seeming like a cardboard figure at the front of the room. If a story is real and personal, most of the time, your feeling of never giving up will come through quickly. However, nerves may get in the way. Transport yourself through emotion into the audience's hearts and minds.

Structure your speech to never give up

First, be clear on what the audience might be giving up on. Hope? Is it their future? Are they giving up on their career? Are they giving up on their dreams? Or are you asking them to never give up on others? Be clear on where they have lost hope. Sprinkle your speech on hope with examples where you lost hope. Bring them down to your depths of despair so you can together climb back out.

Make sure the Climax of your story gives hope.

A speech on hope must build hope. It sounds obvious, but for most people, it isn't. What does the audience have to be hopeful about? What steps do they need to take to find hope? Did you overcome an obstacle to give you hope? The speech needs to build on itself a feeling of hope.
