Argentina has been crowned as champion of the 2022 World Cup after a dramatic penalty shootout win over France and will be awarded the trophy as the winner of soccer's most prestigious event. 

Many around the world will be wanting to watch the trophy ceremony. Because of a quirk in the broadcasting schedule, viewers in the U.S. will have to switch channels in order to do that.

Here's a breakdown of how to watch the World Cup trophy presentation:

What channel is the World Cup trophy ceremony on?

• TV channel:  FS1
• Live stream (English):  fuboTV , FoxSports.com, Fox Sports app
• Live stream (Spanish):  fuboTV ,   Telemundo Deportes En Vivo, Peacock

The World Cup trophy ceremony will air on FS1 after the France vs. Argentina game ends. FS1 is an affiliate of Fox — which aired the entire World Cup Final — and has broadcast numerous games during the 2022 World Cup.

A live stream of the trophy presentation will be available in both English and Spanish on fuboTV,  which offers a free trial for new users . The other primary streaming options for this contest are through the Fox Sports app or FoxSports.com.

Viewers can stream Telemundo's Spanish broadcast of the trophy ceremony with  fuboTV , Telemundo Deportes En Vivo, or Peacock.

Why isn't Fox airing the World Cup trophy ceremony?

Fox isn't airing the World Cup trophy ceremony because the final went to extra time and then a penalty shootout. It's Sunday, so Fox is pivoting to its usual coverage of the NFL — starting with an abbreviated version of its usual pregame show.

As such, the World Cup final will end and Fox will go straight to its pregame show as it transitions into the 1 p.m. ET window of NFL games. And because of that, FS1 will pick up where Fox's World Cup broadcast left off during the trophy presentation.

And as of publishing this, there’s a chance that by the time a winner is declared, whether it’s in extra time or with some penalty kicks, the Week 15 slate of NFL games could be kicking off by 1 PM ET.

Which means FOX — the broadcaster of both the 2022 World Cup in Qatar AND the NFL — could have some conflicts.

Fear not soccer and football fans: If you want to watch the trophy presentation if it bleeds into kickoff time in the NFL, FOX will move it over to FS1:

“A Night to Remember” will reflect on the tournament through music and poetry

Artists from official soundtrack to raise the curtain ahead of Argentina v. France

After 63 matches and a month of thrilling action on the pitch, Argentina and France will meet this Sunday, 18 December, for the ultimate prize of the 2022 edition of the FIFA World Cup™.

While the game kicks off at 18.00, fans should plan to take their seats by 16.30 so as not to miss the stunning closing ceremony that promises to stay forever in the memories of the 88,000 spectators expected at Lusail Stadium.

Following an opening ceremony that celebrated bridging the gaps and getting to know one another beyond our differences, the final ceremony will last 15 minutes and reference the world coming together for the 29 days of the tournament through poetry and music.

“A Night to Remember” will wrap-up with a mashup of songs from the Official Soundtrack that marked memorable moments of the tournament. Performing live to the stadium crowd and global audience, Davido and Aisha will sing ‘(Hayya Hayya) Better Together’, Ozuna and Gims will do ‘Arhbo’, and the full female lineup of ‘Light the Sky’ will be present with Nora Fatehi, Balqees, Rahma Riad and Manal.

What is a bisht and why was Messi wearing it at the World Cup?

The emir of Qatar put a bisht on Argentina captain Messi during the World Cup closing ceremony.

At the World Cup trophy presentation after Argentina’s win over France in the final on Sunday, Lionel Messi was offered a bisht, a traditional Arab cloak, to wear by the emir of Qatar.

Messi allowed Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to place the robe on his shoulders before taking the World Cup trophy from FIFA President Gianni Infantino and lifting it in front of his ecstatic teammates.

What is a bisht?

The bisht is a long cloak made out of light, often sheer, material with trimming made out of real gold that is worn over a white thobe.

Primarily worn in the Gulf, it is a garment that has been worn for centuries during special occasions. It is viewed as a sign of appreciation and respect and is typically worn by top officials such as politicians, sheikhs and other high-status individuals.

What is special about the bisht?

Mustafa Baig, a lecturer in Islamic studies at the University of Exeter, told the dpa news agency that the bisht is a formal robe worn by royalty, dignitaries, grooms on their wedding day, and graduates at graduation ceremonies.

“So only a select few people would actually wear the bisht,” he said. “They basically honoured him [Messi] by putting it over his shoulders. It’s like a mark of honour, and just kind of a cultural welcoming and a cultural acceptance.”

Baig said it is also representative of Qatar’s national dress – but only on important occasions.

“And this is a top occasion. I mean, there’s probably no bigger occasion, so they put it on him as a mark of honour,” he said.

Baig said he saw it as “an embrace by Messi of the local culture”, adding that it was “a pretty cool thing” for Qatar to do and “smart thinking” on their behalf.

What did the organisers say?

Hassan al-Thawadi, secretary-general of Qatar’s World Cup organising committee, said: “It is a dress for an official occasion and worn for celebrations. This was a celebration of Messi.

“The World Cup had the opportunity to showcase to the world our Arab and Muslim culture. This was not about Qatar, it was a regional celebration.”

India beat South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final by seven runs in Barbados on Saturday.

While Virat Kohli won the Player of the Match for his 76 off 59 balls, Jasprit Bumrah was awarded Player of the Tournament for his 15 wickets in eight matches.

Here is the list of all winners of the T20 World Cup 2024:

Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz finished the tournament with most runs - 281 in eight innings at a strike rate of over 124. Rohit Sharma was second in the list with 257 runs at a strike rate of 156.70.

Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi was the joint highest wicket-taker with along with India’s Arshdeep Singh - 17 wickets.
