Determination of the Causes of Copper Wires Beads after Fire in Vehicles

An electrical installation that simulates an automobile DC power supply system with a voltage of 12 V has been created. An experimental simulation of a short circuit at currents up to 400 A on copper multi-wire and single-wire conductors under normal environmental conditions is carried out. The copper wires beads were annealed in a furnace at temperatures from 700 to 1000 °C for 20, 40 and 60 minutes. Metallographic analysis of copper wires beads was carried out. The temperatures and times that of at which the signs of short circuit and overcurrent are destroyed has been revealed. Obtained results contribute to improvement evidence’s researching in the fire investigation of motor vehicles electrical wiring after a fire. Keywords: Arc beads, Copper, Metallographic analysis, Electrical Short Circuit, Wires.

Counseling on the importance of electrical installation safety in tegalpanjang village.

Electricity has a very vital role in everyday life, therefore the electricity network must be properly maintained and protected, otherwise, not only disrupt the need for electricity  but it can also endanger human safety. One type of electrical hazard that often arises is fire that caused by the electrical equipment used was not under the PUIL Standard (General Requirements for Electrical Installation in Indonesia) and COE (Certificate of Operation Eligibility). Beside carelessly installation that not comply with regulations that often cause electrical short circuit.. The purpose of this community service is to provide knowledge about the safe and correct household electrical installations to residence of Tegalpanjang especially school student so they can also provide information to other community members about dangers and utilization of electricity as well as correct electrical installation. The result of this service activity is the participants has knowledge upgrading and understanding about the dangers and use of electrical installations to avoid fires caused by electrical short circuits.

Increasing Knowledge Of Electric Hazards And Their Mitigation For Residents Of The Rw 15, Ciwaruga Village, Parongpong District, West Bandung

Electricity is needed by the community because it is easily converted into other forms of energy. Electricity is very useful but at the same time dangerous for humans if they do not have the knowledge, understanding and skills about it. This training was carried out with the aim of providing knowledge about electrical hazards and skills in electrical installation for residents of RW 15, Ciwaruga Village, Parongpong District. With the materials and methods and approaches applied, the training can run smoothly and work well. This success is shown by the active participation and high enthusiasm of the participants during the training and the high level of absorption of the training materials delivered. This is reflected in the increase in knowledge and skills in terms of making good installations as indicated by the increase in the value of the final test results (posttest). In addition, this paper can also be used as a reference for parties who will carry out similar or other activities related to electrical installations.

The expert system for assessing fire risks of electrical installations in the agrarian industrial complex based on neural networks

Abstract The article is devoted to the analysis of fire risks of the operation of electrical installations in the agro-industrial complex of the region. According to statistics, the number of fires occurring for electrical reasons is steadily increasing, which makes the issue of fire risk management relevant. In order to identify and prevent these risks, a technogenic safety system has been developed, presented as a set of methods and tools, which are based on the generation of new data on the causes of threats to the operation of electrical installations based on the analysis of data on the current state of the system. Highlighted characteristics such as Human Parameters, Electrical Installation Parameters and Environmental Parameters. Mathematical models of the given components are considered, a fire risk assessment tree is compiled, in which the input parameters and intermediate vertices with the solution methods in them were determined. The developed model can be used to carry out experiments in order to study the behavior of an electrical installation under various conditions. The application of this method is especially important in cases where the removal of indicators and testing of the operation of an electrical installation is impossible due to the risk of injury or material damage.

Exploration on Construction Countermeasures of Strong Electricity in Building Electrical Installation

A novel fully controllable rotary switch for electrical installation in buildings.

In an electrical installation in buildings, electromechanical switches are mostly used to turn on and off a load. However, sometimes there are two or more switches in the same circuit intended to control the same load. Thus, a conflict can happen between multi-users who are trying to overtake the control of the load (such as turning it on or off). To solve the problem, this paper proposes a novel switch called “Fully Controllable Rotary Switch” (FCRS) in which it can fully control not only the load but also other switches by blocking them or giving them limited or full access over the electrical circuit and the loads. For validation purposes, the utilization of FCRS in buildings is compared to the traditional switches under the same functionality and conditions. Results show that FCRS has the ability to control many electrical loads simultaneously, control other switches in the circuit, increase the satisfaction, security, and privacy of the users. Finally, it reduces the conflict between multi-users and the investment cost by avoiding installing additional switches and protection devices.

Family-Related Determinants and Implications of Low Female Enrolment in Electrical Trade in Adamawa State

Purpose: This study examined the perceived family-related determinants and implications of the low enrolment of female students in electrical installation and maintenance works in government science technical colleges of Adamawa State. Approach/Methodology/Design: A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study consisted of 13 Electrical Installation and Maintenance Work Trade (EIMWT) teachers and 129 parents of National Technical Certificate Two (NTCII) EIMWT students (either father or mother) in three Government Science Technical Colleges of Adamawa State. The sample of the study comprised of the entire population, thus no sampling was done. A 20-item questionnaire was developed by the researcher and used for data collection. The questionnaire was validated by three lecturers from the Department of Electrical Technology Education, Modibbo Adama University, Yola, Adamawa State. A reliability coefficient of 0.87 was obtained for the instrument using Cronbach Alpha. Mean was used to answer the research questions while a t-test was used to test the hypotheses. Findings: The findings of the study revealed low contribution from the female gender to family income in households and increased level of dependency of the female gender on the males in Adamawa State as major perceived family-related implications. Practical Implications: The study presents practical implications for concerned authorities to work on dismantling the negative perceptions about female education. The results suggest working closely with several institutions to raise awareness and enlighten parents and family members on the prospects of EIMWT, especially to the female gender. Originality/value: The study concludes that EIMWT is a way of investing in the education of females in view of breaking cycles of poverty and social vices that the females might be lured into.

Challenges of Electrical Installation and Maintenance Students in Building Wiring

  • Normel S. Nabatilan Jr.

INTRODUCTION

Electrical installation is dangerous because it involves electricity. To be an effective electrician, one must follow the rules and regulation of the Philippines Electrical Code for safety. EIM students are facing different kinds of challenges while studying. Some problems are really difficult to handle. Some students can solve the challenges but others cannot. Building wiring is one of the purposes of Electrical Installation and Maintenance. It teaches those students about installing electricity or any activities related to this.

This study utilizes a quantitative method. The data gathered was based on the questionnaire distributed to the respondents and used as the primary instrument. The researcher used a questionnaire in conducting the research with thirty (30) Electrical Installation and Maintenance students as respondents. The researcher collected the answered questionnaires for tallying the results on the Challenges of Electrical Installation and Maintenance on students in building wiring.

The respondents are all male students of Tacurong National High School from the Grade 12 Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) strand. Building wiring shows that the main challenge of the respondents was observing and following a floor plan. Working in a noisy place is also experienced by almost all of the respondents. It shows that for the common risks of building wiring, almost all common risks were experienced sometimes by the respondents.

DISCUSSIONS

The results demonstrate that in every challenge, different common risks are always involved. The respondents need to enhance their skills and they have to engage themselves in various activities to learn more about building wiring. It is recommended by the researchers that the respondents should further enhance and sharpen their skills through engaging in different or various orientations, lectures, and other activities not only related in building wiring but most importantly on Electrical Installation and Maintenance.
