Writing a report on a foreign nation or your own country is a great way to better understand and appreciate how people in other parts of the world live. Get started on your voyage with tips from the Nat Geo Kids Almanac .

Choosing a location to research:  Pick the country of your ancestors, one that’s been in the news, or one that you’d like to visit someday.

Passport to Success:  A country report follows the format of an expository essay because you’re “exposing” information about the country you choose.

Gathering information is the most important step in writing a good country report. Look to Internet sources, encyclopedias, books, magazine and newspaper articles, and other sources to find important and interesting details about your subject.

ORGANIZE YOUR NOTES

Put the information you gathered into a rough outline. For example, sort everything you found about the country’s system of government, climate, etc.

WRITE IT UP

Follow the basic structure of good writing: introduction, body, and conclusion. Remember that each paragraph should have a topic sentence that is then supported by facts and details. Incorporate the information from your notes, but make sure it’s in your own words. And make your writing flow with good transitions and descriptive language.

ADD VISUALS

Include maps, diagrams, photos, and other visual aids.

PROOFREAD AND REVISE

Correct any mistakes, and polish your language. Do your best!

CITE YOUR SOURCES

Be sure to keep a record of your sources.

How To Write An Essay On My Country For Classes 1, 2 And 3

Shaili Contractor

Key Points to Remember When Writing an Essay on My Country for Classes 1, 2 and 3

10-line essay on ‘my country’ in english, short essay on my country for classes 1 & 2, long paragraph on my country for class 3, what will your 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grader learn from ‘my country’ essay.

Our country has a rich history, diverse culture, valuable heritage and many unique aspects. Learning about these aspects lays the foundation of patriotism in children. The pride in their country motivates them to be good citizens and think about themselves as part of a larger community. In school, students are asked to write an essay on their country to increase their general knowledge and improve their writing skills. This can be a fairly difficult topic to write about, as students will need lots of guidance on how to weave the facts with their thoughts. Here are some sample essays on ‘My Country’ for classes 1, 2 and 3.

Writing an essay about their country requires students to balance some facts about the country with their own perspectives. Here are some tips on how to compose an essay on ‘my country’:

  • For short essays in simple lines, stick to essential facts that define the country.
  • For short paragraph essays, children will have to express their thoughts about different aspects of their country.
  • For long essays on the country, students will be required to memorise important facts about the country, balanced with their perspectives.

A short essay for class 1 and class 2 can include facts about the country, and its important accomplishments. Here is an example for a simple one-line essay on our country:

  • India is my motherland, and I am a proud citizen of my country.
  • India has a large population with diverse people.
  • India is peninsular, forming the southern tip of Asia.
  • My country is vast and beautiful, surrounded by great seas to the south and the tallest mountain peaks to the north.
  • India got its independence from the British in 1947. It is now the largest democracy in the world.
  • India is popular worldwide for farming and agriculture as many different varieties of fruits and vegetables are cultivated here.
  • India has the Taj Mahal, which is one of the wonders of the world.
  • India is a popular tourist destination for people around the world.
  • India has a rich and diverse culture with various cuisines that are loved by people across the globe.
  • Our country is considered a holy land as many spiritual seekers come to find inspiration here.

A short essay in the form of a paragraph on our country can talk about various aspects such as the culture, history, geography or anything else your child wishes to write. Here is an example:

My country, India, is an ancient country with a history that goes back thousands of years. We have a rich cultural heritage which is respected all over the world. India has also made remarkable contributions to science and technology.

India is part of the Asian continent. It is peninsular, surrounded by the Bay of Bengal to the east, the Arabian Sea to the west, and the great Indian Ocean to the south. Towards the north, the country is surrounded by great mountain ranges with the tallest peaks in the world called the Himalayas.

India has a vast and diverse population, making it the second-most populous country and the largest democracy in the world. India has various cultures, traditions, faiths, languages and even cuisines. I am proud of my country’s rich heritage and all its achievements.

To write a long paragraph on ‘my country’ for class 3, students will have to remember important facts about India. The essay can start with an introductory paragraph on modern India and its ancient roots. It can then go on to talk about various geographical features and cultures. Here is an example:

India is my country. It is a land of diverse cultures, languages, and religions living in unity and harmony. India is also called ‘Bharat’ or ‘Hindustan’ in its native languages. The Indian flag is tricoloured with stripes of saffron at the top, white in the middle, and green at the bottom with the Ashoka Chakra in the centre. India is an ancient country with a culture that spans thousands of years.

India is the world’s largest democracy, having the second-largest population. It has 28 states and eight union territories. It is the seventh-largest country by landmass. It is surrounded by the great Himalayas in the North and vast oceans to the South. India shares its borders with neighbouring countries such as China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and Myanmar.

Historically the name India can be traced back to the river Indus, derived from the word ‘Sindhu.’ The country’s national animal is the tiger, and the national bird is the peacock.

India is also known as the land of spirituality and philosophy. People from different countries come to India to seek spiritual guidance. Even the practice of Yoga, now globally popular, originated in ancient India.

I am a proud Indian. If we strive for it, we can make India prosper and become a world leader in the future.

Writing an essay on their country encourages children to learn about their motherland and pick up some facts and general knowledge about their heritage. The essay also teaches children how to assimilate these facts and put them together in a coherent written format for their writing assignments. The essay can touch upon various aspects of the country, such as history, geographical and demographic facts, and noteworthy accomplishments. Students can then weave a good narrative around the facts and express their perspectives.

Descriptive Essay: My Beloved Country

My country, the United States of America, or ‘The Land of the Free’ as I like to call it, has come a long way since 1607. Significant events like the American Revolution, Declaration of independence and the issue of slavery have shaped my country into what it is today – a land for everyone. By the way, it may sound interesting that the Declaration of Independence was actually written on hemp paper.

America is the fourth largest country in the world in terms of area and occupies the third spot in terms of population. Although America has no official language at the national level, 80% of its population aged five years or more speaks only English at home. Spanish is the second most common language and is also the language that is most widely taught as a second language.

Since it is a land of great opportunities, there is a large immigrant population from many countries that has settled here making it one of the most ethnically diverse countries in the world. Despite this diversity in terms of culture, sect, and religion, America is a peaceful place with something for everybody. All people have the right to be hard in court and differences are normally settled peacefully using existing laws.

America has 50 states that combine to form the federal union. The US operates under a two party system, the Democrats and the Republicans. It is a capitalist economy that is fueled by abundance of natural resources. US is the largest importer of goods in the world while in terms of the amount of goods exported, it occupies the second spot.

We boast a number of great scientists that have changed the way we live. From Graham Bell’s invention of telephone to Thomas Edison’s first light bulb, Americans have been the frontrunners when it comes to technological innovation. We also have America to thank for the internet. It first started as ARPANET and was a project of the US defense department. However, it has evolved with time, and today, nearly every household has access to the internet making the world a global village.

When it comes to quality education, America is the most popular choice in the world. The US spends more on education per student than any other country in the world. Its institutes of higher education have an esteemed place among universities in the world. Every year, America attracts a crop of the most intelligent students from around the world with different scholarship programs.

America is a free country. It does not discriminate among people. If we were not free, our ignorance would cause us to hate or destroy the each other. Even though Christianity is the religion practiced by the majority of the population, there is no discrimination based on religion. My country has given me the tolerance to mix with other cultures and the courage to stand up for my rights. Surely, there is a long list of why I love my country, and will continue to do so until I take my last breath.

Speech on My Country

Welcome to the captivating world of my country, a land filled with diverse cultures, rich history, and stunning landscapes. You’ll find it a place where traditions blend seamlessly with modernity.

My country is a treasure trove of fascinating stories, waiting to be discovered. Let’s embark on this journey together, exploring its unique charm and vibrant spirit.

1-minute Speech on My Country

Ladies and Gentlemen, good morning! I am thrilled to have this opportunity to share a few words about my beloved country.

Our nation is not just defined by its geographical boundaries but also by the emotional bond that binds us together. We may speak different languages, follow different religions, but the heart of each citizen beats with the same rhythm, the rhythm of patriotism.

Our nation is known for its history, a history that has left its mark on every corner of the world. We are the inheritors of a legacy of great leaders and freedom fighters who have sacrificed their lives for the independence we enjoy today. Their valiant acts have penned down glorious chapters in our country’s history.

However, despite our achievements, there are challenges. We still grapple with issues of poverty, education, and health. But, I firmly believe in the indomitable spirit of our people. This spirit has seen us through tough times. It is this spirit that will propel us towards a brighter future.

In conclusion, I am proud of my country, not only for its beauty or its history but for its will to aspire, to achieve, and to advance. Together, we can and we will overcome any challenges.

2-minute Speech on My Country

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I stand before you today brimming with pride and affection as I speak about my beloved country. A place that is not just a geographical entity but a feeling, a sentiment that is etched deep within my heart. A place that has nurtured me, taught me, and made me who I am today.

My country is a melting pot of diverse cultures, traditions, and religions, each adding its own unique flavor to the society. Each region is distinct, with its own language, food, art, and history yet we are all bound by the sense of unity in diversity. What fascifies me is how despite these differences, there’s a shared sense of belonging, of oneness, that transcends all diversities.

We are a young nation, full of dreams and ambitions. A country where aspirations run high and the zeal to achieve them even higher. A nation where every child is a potential world leader, every youth a potential entrepreneur, every woman a symbol of strength and empowerment. We are a nation that believes in the power of dreams and the strength to realize them.

However, just like any other country, we too have our own set of challenges. Poverty, illiteracy, corruption are some of the issues that we grapple with. But I see these not as hurdles, but as opportunities. Opportunities to learn, to grow, to evolve. The journey towards progress may be slow and filled with obstacles, but it’s a journey we must undertake. And I firmly believe that we will overcome these challenges and emerge stronger.

As I end my speech, I want to say how proud I am to belong to this wonderful nation. I wear my nationality like a badge of honor and carry it with pride wherever I go. I hope each one of us realizes the beauty of our nation and works towards making it even more beautiful. I am proud of my country, and I hope you are too.

We also have speeches on more interesting topics that you may want to explore.

How to Write an Essay About Your Country

One way to inform people about your country is to write an essay about it. While this seems fairly simple, it is actually a complex task that can quickly overwhelm because there are so many aspects of a country at which to look. Culture, economics, history and political events are components of a country that already have literally hundreds of essays written about them. You need to refine your topic, research it and form an argument, and then write an essay that effectively supports that argument by citing relevant facts.

Choose a theme that interests you. If you are writing about the U.S. and you have always had an interest in war, you could write on a current or past war in which the U.S. has been involved. The same goes for sports, music or anything else that falls under your interest.

Read up on the theme until you start to form an opinion. This opinion will be the foundation of your argument; this argument will go on to be the point of your entire essay, so you need to be informed enough to write about it at length.

Create an argument that is clear, concise and controversial. It should be something that is up for debate, such as "the U.S. has not been involved in as many wars during the 20th century as it should have been," or the converse.

Write an outline on paper. It should be divided into sections, with each section's heading responding to your argument from a different angle. There should be at least two sentences after each heading giving an explanation of the heading and an example.

Write a rough draft, using the bullet points from the outline as a guide. The headings should turn into topic sentences while the subheadings should turn into supporting sentences.

Edit your rough draft to make sure it makes sense, has proper spelling and grammar and is written in an engaging style.

Make any necessary changes and rewrites, and turn in the essay.

The name of my country is the “Islamic Republic of Pakistan.” It is very dear to me. It is my homeland and I am proud of being Pakistani. Pakistan came into being on August 14, 1947. It was a united country before it. At that time it was ruled over by the British. The British were foreigners and ruled over this country for about 200 years. It was the age of slavery. The British were very cruel to the Muslims. The Muslims were leading miserable life. Their condition was pitiable. Before that, the Muslims had ruled over this great country for 800 years with great pomp and show. Unfortunately, they were made slaves by the British.

“In Pakistan, lies our deliverance, defence and honour.” – (Muhammad Ali Jinnah)

At last, the Muslims started a movement for their freedom. A number of great Muslim leaders created a wave of religious, social and political awakening in Muslims. Among these great leaders, the names of Tipu Sultan, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, Syed Ahmad Shaheed, Maulana Nazir Ahmad, Maulana Halim Maulana Shibli, Ali Brothers and Maulana Zafar Ali Khan are worth mentioning. Allama Iqbal tops this list. In his poetry, he gave the Muslims the message of hope. He taught them self-respect and gave them a sense of dignity. He showed them their glorious past and gave them the hope of a bright future.

In his speech at Allahabad in 1930, Allama Iqbal expressed the idea that Muslims of India should have their own independent state. In this way, he was the first Muslim leader to visualize Pakistan.

“The ultimate aim of an ego is not to see something, but is to be something.” – (Allama Muhammad Iqbal)

Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was a great leader of the Muslims who united the Muslims under his great leadership. As a result of his struggle, Pakistan appeared on the map of the world on August 14, 1947. Hence he was the founder of Pakistan. He was appointed as the first Governor-General of Pakistan. His health went down day by day due to his overwork. He died on September 11, 1948. he lives in our hearts. His motto was “Faith, Unity and Discipline.”

The aim of the establishment of Pakistan was to establish an Islamic Society and Islamic state. Pakistan is in fact, the fort of Islam. It stands for the support of the whole Islamic World. God has blessed Pakistan with rich resources. Now it is our entre duty to make Pakistan a great, strong and prosperous country.

“Men Love their country, not because it is great, but because it is their own.” – (Seneca)

The population of Pakistan is about 150 Million. It has four provinces, Punjab Sindh, Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa. The capital of Pakistan is Islamabad, a beautiful and worth seeing place. Other famous cities of Pakistan are Karachi, Lahore Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta and Hyderabad. The national language of Pakistan is Urdu. Punjabi, Sindhi, Pushto and Baluchi are its provincial or regional languages. Pakistan is basically an agricultural country. Most of its population is illiterate. But now education is spreading day by day. It is making great progress in science, technology and industry. Pakistan army is one of the best armies in the world. Pakistan, officially the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, is a large culturally diverse country located at the crossroads of the strategically significant expanses of South Asia, Central Asia and Western Asia, and borders Afghanistan and Iran in the western corridor, India in the eastern corridor, and China in the far northeast (Page et al 6). This brief attempts to examine the country’s history and culture.

Although Urdu is the official national language and lingua franca of Pakistan, Punjabi is the principal indigenous language in the country by virtue of the fact that it is spoken by an estimated 60 million individuals (Page et al 18). There exist marked differences between how the Urdu language is written using Arabic and Hindi characters.

Although the language uses the right-to-left alphabet modified from the Persian alphabet, it is important to point out that some characters do not exist in Hindi, implying that people using the Hindi characters have to employ some consonants from Arabic for use in words borrowed from Arabic/Persian only.

For instance, the ‘Z’ sound is not available in Hindi, necessitating speakers to use ‘J’ instead. Equally, some characters do not exist in Arabic or Persian, and are therefore borrowed from Hindi. The rules for gender in most of the characters which have been borrowed from the Hindi language do not change between Urdu and Hindi; however the rules for gender shifts in most of the words borrowed from the Arabic language.

Moving on to the issue of tribes, the major ethnic groups in Pakistan include “…Punjabis (44.68% of the population), Pashtuns (15.42%), Sindhis (14.1%), Seraikis (8.38%), Muhajirs (7.57%), Balochis (3.57%) and others (6.08%)” (Page et al 18).

While the Punjabis are an indo-Aryan tribal grouping of North Indian origin, the Pashtuns belong to the Eastern Iranian peoples, and the Sindhis are native to the Sindh province of Pakistan.

The Seraikis have no central place of origin, but the Muhajirs are immigrants who preferred to stay in Pakistan and changed their residence after the partition of British India to Pakistan. The Balochis are native to Balochistan – the largest province of Pakistan by land mass.

In discussing the main characteristics of Pakistani culture, it is imperative to mention that every great nation enjoys its own distinct culture, and Pakistan is no different in large part due to its distinctive culture that is grounded on Islamic values and traditions, as well as a rich historical background.

Pakistani culture draws its value propositions, belief systems and traditions from Islam, by virtue of the fact that it is actually a component of the contemporary Islamic civilization.

It is of essence to note that Pakistani culture is a striking combination of Punjabi, Sindhi, Pathan, Baluchi, Barohi, Seraiki and Kashmiri cultures, and that the society follows a patriarch system where each nuclear/extended family is headed by the senior most male member, who is responsible for the upkeep of the family.

Pakistani culture is not only characterized by a rich variety of colorful dress codes, but also a great tradition of fairs and festivals, including the Horse and Cattle shows of Lahore, the Polo festival of Gilgit, as well as the annual urs of Hazrat Daata Ganj Bakhsh.

Lastly, it is important to note that not only are Pakistani people great lovers of sports and games, such as hockey, cricket, soccer and squash, but they also enjoy great distinction in production of handicrafts at an international level (Civil Service of Pakistan para. 1-9).
