Find UA theses & dissertations
Use the UA Theses & Dissertations Repository , to locate UA dissertations and masters theses submitted to the library from 1895-present. You can search or browse by author, title, discipline (program) or date.
Honors College theses from 2008-present are available in the UA Campus Repository. Paper copies from 1960s-2005 are located in Special Collections .
Several UA departments maintain their own archives of masters theses and masters reports that were not submitted to the library. Check with individual departments.
The Arizona State Museum (ASM) Library collection includes master's theses from the American Indian Studies and Anthropology programs that are not available at the UA Libraries. Search the ASM online catalog to find theses in their non-circulating research collection and visit the ASM Library and Archives for more information on location and hours.
Not finding what you are looking for?
UA faculty, staff, and students can request dissertations and theses from other institutions through interlibrary loan. If you're a non-UA affiliate, you may be able to borrow UA theses and dissertations through your local library's interlibrary loan system.
Dissertations from the UA and many other U.S. and Canadian universities can be purchased online through ProQuest UMI Dissertation Express .

How Do I Order A Dissertation?

If your library subscribes to the ProQuest Dissertations & Theses (PQDT) database, you should be able to access it here . You will find PQDT listed as "Interdisciplinary - Dissertations & Theses" in the Database pull-down menu. Once you search and find the dissertation that you are seeking, you should be able to order the dissertation within the database. If you have difficulty accessing the database, contact your library reference staff for help accessing ProQuest.

- Search by Title or Author (Last Name, First Name)
- Search by keyword: (e.g., S.J.D. & Michigan)
- Search by subject "Academic theses"
Digital Dissertations through U-M Library Catalog Search
The U-M Library provides access to several databases that house dissertations.
- ProQuest Dissertations & Theses @ University of Michigan describes most dissertations filed at University of Michigan, with full text for most since 1990.
- ProQuest Dissertations & Theses @ CIC Institutions describes dissertations and some master theses filed at CIC / Big Ten universities , with full text for most since 1997.
- ProQuest Dissertations & Theses provides descriptions, sometimes with full text, of doctoral dissertations & master theses from US, UK, Canada, Ireland, etc.
Dissertations Not on Campus
- If you need to consult a dissertation that was not produced at U-M, try requesting it through interlibrary loan .
- For more information, contact the University Library Interlibrary Loan Office .
- Dissertations may be purchased from ProQuest directly on the Dissertation Express website.

If you are not affiliated with a library that subscribes to PQDT, you can search and purchase dissertations through Dissertation Express. Dissertation Express allows you purchase bound print copies or a PDF copy (if available) for the title you are seeking.
On-line ordering of an electronic or paper copy is available through a link to UMI's Dissertation Express. A library subscription option to the entire database, all 1.5 million citations, also is available. The full text of over 95,000 dissertations is available now at this Web site.
