The Killer's Game Ending Explained: What Happens To Joe?
Dave bautista's new action movie hits box office low with all-time record, what went wrong with dave bautista's new movie at the box office: why it's a record low.
The Rotten Tomatoes scores for The Killer's Game are pretty polar between critics and audiences. This is the second time this year that Dave Bautista stars in a leading role, portraying an assassin named Joe Flood who gets misdiagnosed with a fatal disease. As Bautista expands his acting resume beyond Marvel and franchises, The Killer's Game failed to impress critics and even became the actor's lowest-grossing movie in his career after just collecting $2.6 million domestically on its opening weekend.
Despite some lows, The Killer's Game seems to have at least won over audiences who did see the movie. On Rotten Tomatoes , the audience score for the new Bautista movie is currently at 78%, based on over 100 ratings . This is in contrast to the critical score, which was calculated at a poor 39% per 33 reviews.
What The Killer's Game Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score Means For Dave Bautista
It doesn't hurt bautista's rt record..
While Bautista has been in the acting game for over a decade now, The Killer's Game is one of the few times he had a leading role and the movie ended up in theaters. Before that, the wrestler-turned-actor had prominently featured in films, where he was part of a large ensemble cast ( Guardians of the Galaxy and Dune franchises) or his lead movies ended up on streaming ( My Spy: The Eternal City ). His latest action comedy was ultimately a test to see whether Bautista can prove himself to be a leading action star of the same caliber as Jason Statham or Dwayne Johnson.
Dave Bautista Movies | Critical RT Score | Audience RT Score |
---|---|---|
(2021) | 67% | 75% |
(2021) | 83% | 90% |
(2022) | 91% | 92% |
(2022) | 94% | 81% |
(2023) | 67% | 63% |
(2023) | 82% | 94% |
(2023) | 81% | 91% |
(2024) | 88% | NA |
(2024) | 92% | 95% |
(2024) | 22% | 34% |
(2024) | 39% | 78% |
While The Killer's Game became Bautista's career low at the box office, the high audience score brings some hope, meaning it still has a chance to find an audience and some success via word of mouth. He still has a solid acting resume in the last few years, with a good chunk of Bautista's movies receiving positive Rotten Tomatoes scores since 2021's Army of the Dead . He also has one more movie coming out this year called The Last Showgirls , which currently has a score of 88%. Therefore, his Rotten Tomatoes record is still solid, with this year looking to record two fresh and two rotten movies.
Our Take On The Audience Response To The Killer's Game
Audiences always respond differently from critics, & this is key for action movies.
Considering I have seen The Killer's Game in theaters, I'm not surprised that audiences responded better to the movie than critics. I even anticipated that the audience and critics would be divided on Rotten Tomatoes. While the acting wasn't great and the story was cliché, the action sequences are the main spectacle of this movie. The fights and killings are violent and brutal , which is all that it takes to provide an entertaining enough popcorn action flick.
The Killer's Game concludes with an action-packed ending, and here's what it means for Dave Bautista's character Joe and a potential franchise.
I also don't believe this will hurt Bautista's acting career, as he has been serious about his craft for some time now. This is particularly the case as he tries to find a footing beyond franchises and MCU movies. Given the audience response, The Killer's Game will likely have streaming potential and experience similar success through those means. This is a typical trend for just about any action movie. Therefore, Bautista's acting career still has a chance to grow , whether to become the next action star or to expand on his versatile choices.

New horror movie with a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score gets a creepy new trailer featuring Hugh Grant as you've never seen him before
Welcome to Hugh Grant’s house of horrors
Hugh Grant’s upcoming horror movie Heretic has unveiled yet another trailer, and whilst this one is only a minute long, it gives us a better look at Grant’s Jigsaw-like sadistic homeowner.
The trailer opens with 'The Air That I Breathe' by The Hollies playing in the background whilst the camera pans to a framed picture of a young Grant alongside a number of various religious artefacts. In the rest of the clip, we see Grant’s villain setting up what looks like various traps around his house, even going as far as to build a model of the home and write 'Belief' and 'Disbelief' on two doors as it was an escape room of sorts. All the while, two young female missionaries are on the way to his house. We can only imagine what horror lies ahead for them there. Watch the full trailer below.
As well as being utterly creepy and off-putting, the new teaser gives us a better idea of what Grant’s villain Mr Reed will be getting up to. The synopsis reads: "Two young missionaries are forced to prove their faith when they knock on the wrong door and are greeted by a diabolical Mr. Reed, becoming ensnared in his deadly game of cat-and-mouse." But from the new clip, we can see that Reed’s attack was somewhat premeditated as he is setting up his traps and has The Book of Mormon ready to go before the missionaries even step foot on his property.
Those who have had the chance to see the movie have been raving about the new A24 flick, especially when it comes to Grant’s performance. Although it's a month before its release, Heretic has already made a good impression with critics, stirring up steller first reactions a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes .
Heretic comes from filmmaking duo Scott Beck and Bryan Woods best known for writing A Quiet Place and directing Haunt. The cast also includes Elle McKinnon, Stephanie Lavigne, Elle Young, River Codack, Haylie Hansen, and Carolyn Adair.
Heretic releases November 15 in the US and hits UK cinemas on November 21. For more, see our list of the best horror movies , or keep up to date with upcoming horror movies heading your way.

Halle Berry's new horror movie debuts with fresh Rotten Tomatoes rating
"That rope is your lifeline."
Halle Berry's new survival horror Never Let Go has opened to mostly positive reviews, earning a fresh Rotten Tomatoes score.
Directed by Alexandre Aja — who helmed the 2006 remake of The Hills Have Eyes as well as gator horror Crawl — the film currently sits at a 74% critics' score on the review aggregator .
Judging by the trailer (which you can watch at the top of the article), Never Let Go is one of those films whose title is repeated in the movie. A lot, in fact.
Related: Best movie box sets to buy
In the clip, Berry's character makes sure her two twin sons understand how crucial it is to not let go of the rope keeping them all connected to their isolated house in the forest.
"That rope is your lifeline. Never let go," she says at one point.
The trailer later reveals what happens when the cord breaks and the characters are left to fend the evil creatures inhabiting the woods.
Ahead of the film hitting US cinemas on September 20, critics who saw the film at Fantastic Fest praised its hallucinatory visuals while acknowledging the flimsy plot stretches its own logic in favour of jaw-dropping twists.
"It's refreshing to encounter genre fare that is equal parts original and entertaining."
Bloody Disgusting
" Never Let Go elevates a barebones, well-trodden concept. It’s unafraid to get dark and mean, removing the safety net for all, and refuses to overexplain its themes or the evil itself. It’s a smart approach when tackling a horror movie, asking questions about blind faith and belief."
Related: 58 best horror movies that are actually good and terrifying
"Its thematic ruminations on grief, sanity, rebellion and redemption are intrinsically intertwined to harrowing, claustrophobic effect, heightening the hallucinatory horrors and dread-soaked atmospheric pull."
The Hollywood Reporter
"[Halle] Berry, who’s also a producer through her HalleHolly company, gives it her all. De-glammed almost to a feral degree and slipping in and out of a Southern accent, she deftly blurs the lines separating fiercely protective from paranoid and unhinged for much of the duration. But all her conviction can’t breathe substance into a story that’s way more complicated than complex and a movie that takes itself far more seriously than the material merits."
" Never Let Go should resonate with both horror junkies seeking fall escapism and parents looking to see their struggles visualized."
The Daily Beast
" Never Let Go feels half-baked, especially as it wends its way past its central catastrophe and toward its end game. Having deftly set up their scenario, [director Alexandra] Aja and screenwriters Kevin Coughlin and Ryan Grassby don’t bother to thrust their protagonists into enough peril — a decision that’s undoubtedly driven by their desire to keep viewers guessing about the evil."
"It may freak you out a little bit, and that may be enough for some people, but it only briefly grabs hold of something significant. Then it lets go."
Slant Magazine
"As the film goes on, it stretches its own internal logic and, following a genuinely shocking third-act twist, renders the world that it's created virtually incoherent merely in a ploy to keep the audience on the edge of their seats."
Never Let Go is released in US cinemas on September 20 and in UK cinemas on September 27.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople Reviews
Waititi's long-in-development adaptation of the Crump's classic has a style and wit all of its own. Neill is delightfully grumpy, but it is Dennison who steals the show. The over the top buffoonery of the final chase is a bit much, though

The balance between humanity and comedy is what Taika Waititi does best.

This fun little odyssey pulls from so many directions but always maintains its balance. It’s genuinely tender and sweet but never overly sentimental.
Full Review | Original Score: 4.5/5 | Aug 21, 2022
Achieves a pitch-perfect balance of silly humor and compassionate characters, proving both oddly funny and profoundly moving despite some very clichéd archetypes propelling the story.

The truly rare family film that's safe for kids, funny and acerbic enough for adults, and surprising enough to keep everyone absorbed.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople is excellent when it focuses solely on the relationship between - and the misadventures of - its two central figures. It's less captivating when the attention turns to several doltish supporting characters.

Bombastic chases, dark humour, and poignantly truthful moments make Hunt For The Wilderpeople more meaningful than many other big name action or comedies out there. Definitely a film that everyone should see.
