Mobile Phone – A Boon or Bane

The mobile phone first appeared in India sometime in the nineties. It was a bulky box quite similar to the landlines we still use today. It had an equally big antenna  and was heavy and cumbersome to carry. That was just the beginning. Very soon they were all over the place. With the alarming speed at which they shrunk in size, these pocket sized wonders, sure packed a punch. The mobiles of today are gizmos that can do multiple functions. They can send text messages, they can send and receive video messages and they have a host of facilities that somehow snake the – talk on the move” function seem redundant. As is the case with every invention, with time the prices crashed and today these little things are available for as less as five hundred Indian rupees. In India almost every one, everywhere, seems to have one. The vegetable vendor, the bus conductor, students, the office goers, almost everybody irrespective of economic status has a cell phone. This little midget has taken the world by storm.

Thanks to the cell phone everybody is available almost all of the time. It’s a boon for people who do a lot of field work. It means the offices they work for can keep in touch with them. Also in cases of emergency, like you are stuck in a road jam or in some catastrophe, all you have to do is whip out your phone and call for help or call your family to put their minds at ease. You can text one message to several people at the same time. Through your cell you can go online and check your email. You can playgames on your cell phone to kill time, not the best of uses, but a use nonetheless. You can even listen to music on the cell, watch video clippings and if you are of the artistic bend and wish to click a spontaneous photograph, viola!! One click on the cell phone and you are done.

Everywhere you go, you are swarmed by people glued to their cell phones. It has reached the proportions where often one sees a young couple walking down the beach hand in hand; both their other hands holding on to their individual cells talking to other people. It means that people are talking a lot more than they used to for sure. It means that when you visit a friend for dinner most ofthe time everybody is busy on their individual cells. It also means that people drive recklessly-their one ear and one hand occupied by the cell. However, it is the total invasion of privacy which cell phones have caused which is scary. People are recording videos of other people without their knowledge and then selling them. Advertising through text messages has become such a nuisance that you have your cell phone beeping almost all the time. In case of an emergency, often, the network is jammed thanks to the indiscriminate use of cell phones. Several health risks have been projected by the misuse of the cell phone; one of them being the decreased count of sperm in men due to prolonged use. Kids have been caught storing answers on the cell phone to use during examinations.

What use is technology if it makes us restless, impatient and deprives us of the moments that really matter-a cup of hot tea had against the backdrop of the pitter patter of the rain, a walk on the beach with a loved one. What use is it if it robs us of the joy of taking a walk down the beach listening to the sound of waves? With every technology, along with its uses come the misuses and it is the user’s responsibility to use technology with caution.

A Speech on Mobile Phones: Boon or Bane!

Red Lighted Candles Christmas Gift

Mobile phones have changed the way people communicate. Everywhere you see people talking over phone while on the move.

For many people life revolves around mobile phones. The advantage is that you can keep in touch with people with ease. You can maintain friendships and relationships . Through mobile phones and a variety of apps, distances and memories are bridged in real time. It is nothing less than amazing what technology has wrought through mobile phones.

Blood Jesus Cleanse

That is about connection.

Another advantage is the sense of security it gives to people. For example elderly parents when alone at home can get in touch with their children in an instant in case of an emergency. Mothers can keep in constant touch with their daughters while they travel alone. Or even if your vehicle gets punctured on the road or meets with an accident you can call for help right from there. These advantages cannot be overlooked.

That is about confidence.

Third advantage is that most mobile phones give you access to world wide web and the information super highway. Knowledge is just a search away. Whether it be referring to a dictionary, or looking up “how to” do something in a Youtube video , or gathering information from Wikipedia, websites, blogs and the like; people find it at lightning speed with the help of search engines like google.

That is about comprehension. If you still try to analyze the benefits of mobile phones it includes banking, shopping, purchasing tickets, photography, music and to mention the ease of switching on the light in case of a sudden power cut. In that sense some people say mobiles are extension of their hands.

That is about convenience. So, the benefits of mobile phones can be summed up in four words: Connection, Confidence, Comprehension, and Convenience. Now let me mention how mobile phones can become a bane.

First and foremost mobile phones can easily make people addicted to its use. The long hours people spend on mobile phones certainly steal from quality time you can spend at work, with family and friends. In other words mobile phones are a distraction preventing you from sharply focusing on your task ahead.

That is about distraction.

Secondly, people do use mobile phones to engage in secretive relationships. It is used to violate private spaces including the sacred marriage relationship. Somehow Facebook, WhatsApp and other apps have given a sense of ease and a false sense of freedom to people to engage in clandestine relationships. This has destroyed many families. Children are growing up seeing their parents spend long hours chatting with strangers neglecting their family responsibilities. Of course, you might call me outdated when I say so. But I prefer to be labelled than to stop saying the truth. Let me repeat again, this is a dangerous aspect of mobile phones.

That is about demolition.

Yet another negative of mobile phones is the damage it does to one’s body in the long run. Whether radiation is causing harm or not is still debated. But today we find people engaging with their mobiles with heads bowed down. There are people who injure their necks and back and wrists and eyes and ears because of long use of mobile phones. How can I fail to point out the great number of accidents caused by people using mobile phones while driving.

That is about destruction.

Finally, what about the market influence of mobiles? Why is there such flashy media hype about new mobiles arriving at the market? Why is it that even selfies, a kind of social disease,  are made the stuff of advertisements? It is amazing to see how people get so choosy and obsessed with gadgets. Mobiles beyond their functionality and variety of uses often becomes a style statement. It becomes synonymous with a man’s purchasing power and social status. Gadgets and their possession is a terribly deluded way to compute one’s attempt to define the meaning of one’s life.

That is about display.

Let me once again note the four words related to the negative influences of mobiles: Distraction, Demolition, Destruction and Display.

Now that both sides have been heard and let me conclude.

None of us today can afford to avoid mobile phones. But certainly we can ensure that mobile phones are our servants and not our masters. We can fix boundaries for the time we spend with mobile phones; boundaries that should not be stretched or crossed. We can then live with dignity with the assurance that mobile phones serve our cause and that they will not dictate us to a life of bondage and slavery and unending boredom with so called entertainment.

Choose life and not death! Thank you.

100 Words Essay on Mobile A Boon Or Bane

What is a mobile phone.

A mobile phone is a small, portable device that lets us talk, text, and use the internet. People everywhere can stay in touch, find information, and have fun with it. It’s like a tiny computer in your pocket.

Mobile Phones: Good or Bad?

Mobile phones are helpful because they make life easier. You can call your family, get help in emergencies, and learn new things online. But sometimes, they can be bad if used too much, like causing less face-to-face talk with friends.

Using Phones Wisely

Mobile phones can be good if we use them right. It’s important to spend time with people in real life and not just on the phone. Balance is key to making sure mobile phones help and not hurt our lives.

250 Words Essay on Mobile A Boon Or Bane

Mobile phones have changed the way we live. They are small devices that let us talk, send messages, and use the internet from almost anywhere. Many people think about whether mobile phones are good or bad for us.

Connecting People

Learning and fun.

Mobile phones can be tools for learning. There are apps for reading, math, and even learning new languages. They also have games and videos that can be fun and sometimes teach us new things.

Health and Safety

Mobile phones can keep us safe. We can call for help if we are in danger. They also have apps that can track our steps or remind us to drink water, which is good for our health.

Distractions and Problems

Even though mobile phones have many good points, they can also cause problems. They can distract us from homework or sleep. Some people also use them too much and forget to talk to people face-to-face.

In the end, mobile phones have both good and bad sides. It’s up to us to use them in ways that help us and not let them get in the way of living healthy and happy lives. We should remember that like any tool, the value of mobile phones depends on how we use them.

500 Words Essay on Mobile A Boon Or Bane

Introduction to mobile phones.

Mobile phones have become a big part of our lives. They are small computers that we can carry in our pockets. With a mobile phone, you can talk to someone far away, send messages, take pictures, and even go on the internet. Many people think mobile phones are very useful. But some worry that they can also cause problems.

Mobile Phones as a Boon

Mobile phones are also great for learning. You can find a lot of information on the internet. Students can use mobile apps for studying and doing homework. Plus, if you like taking photos or making videos, a mobile phone is a handy tool.

Another good thing is that mobile phones can help us stay safe. There are apps that can tell you if there is bad weather coming or if there is something dangerous happening near you.

Mobile Phones as a Bane

Another problem is that spending too much time on your phone can make you feel lonely. Even if you are talking to people online, it’s not the same as being with them in person. Some people also get sad when they see others having fun on social media and feel like they are missing out.

Mobile phones can also be bad for your health. Looking at a screen for a long time can hurt your eyes. And if you use your phone before bed, it might be hard to fall asleep.

Balance is Key

The important thing is to find a balance. Use your mobile phone when you need it, but don’t let it take over your life. Make sure to spend time with people face to face, and don’t forget to look up from your screen to see the world around you.

In conclusion, mobile phones have both good and bad sides. They can help us stay connected, learn new things, and stay safe. But they can also distract us, make us feel lonely, and hurt our health if we’re not careful. It’s up to us to use mobile phones in a smart way so that we get the benefits without the problems. Remember, it’s not the phone itself that’s good or bad, but how we choose to use it.

That’s it! I hope the essay helped you.

Mobile telephone: boon or bane? Essay, Paragraph for Class 9, 10, 11 and 12, Competitive Examination.

Mobile telephone: boon or bane?

In recent decades, there have been many advances in the communications industry. Undoubtedly, one of the most important of these advances has been the mobile telephone.

The mobile telephone is a particularly important invention because it enables people to contact other people by means of a device that they can carry around. Before its invention, people who wanted to be in telephone contact with someone had to make the call either from a telephone in a private house or from a public telephone box.

Being able to make a call from a telephone that you can carry about has revolutionized communication by telephone. If you need to contact someone on a business matter, you can use your mobile. There is no danger of your missing out on an important business opportunity because of communication difficulties.

Instant communication from everywhere, apart from places where it is not possible to get a clear signal, has to be an advantage, whether you are in a business, social or domestic situation. For example, it is useful to be able to ring your wife from a train to say that it has been very much delayed because of some problems on the line and that you will be home late. This stops her from worrying, and probably from cooking a dinner that would otherwise end up being burnt.

Similarly, it is a good thing to be able to forewarn someone with whom you plan to have dinner in a restaurant that you are either going to be late or unable to turn up at all. Such communication can save a friendship.

Perhaps the most important advantage of the mobile telephone is the fact that it can be used in an emergency situation. For example, if a teenage girl misses the last bus home, she can ring her parents and get them to come and get her, without having to worry about searching for the nearest telephone box. Similarly, if someone sees a person being attacked in the street by a thug, he can use his mobile telephone to call the police or an ambulance. That could save a life.

These then are some of the advantages of the mobile telephone, but they undoubtedly have disadvantages. One of the most important of these is the intrusion into the lives of others. Some mobile telephone users ignore the fact that they are probably disturbing the people around them.

You only have to travel in a bus or train to be aware of this problem. A train journey can be absolutely ruined by the nearby presence of someone who is using the train carriage like a mini- office. The person spends the whole journey conducting by mobile telephone the business which he is not able to conduct face to face.

Buses are particularly popular with mobile telephone users. Fellow passengers may forgive an urgent call to the boss to say that the caller has been unavoidably delayed, but far too many bus passengers use their telephones simply to pass the time by chatting to their friends. The main complaint that people make about mobile telephones is that people use them to send absolutely unnecessary and trivial information, such as “I’ve just got on the bus. I should be home in about five minutes. What’s on TV tonight?”

There are advantages and disadvantages connected with mobile telephones. I think that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, provided people use them sensibly.

I need a speech for the topic "Mobile revolution is necessary or not". Can you please share an essay on that subject so that I can use it for my academic programs?

Thanks a lot for sharing the essay on "Is mobile phone a boon or bane".

It is a very useful essay. Thanks for sharing this.

This Saturday I should be ready to face debate in my school on this topic , I just gone through it once,It is very nice THANK YOU for sharing.

According to me as far as the children are concerned the mobiles are bane to them as it hinders the very progress in many ways. Children are attracted to the mobiles because they can fiddle with various features and want to play the games stored in it. But the mobile phone ultra rays are bad for the eyes and soon the children will get the eye sight problems. And those who are addicted to the mobiles, the children never listen to the parents commands and wants to have the phones on hand. The diversion tactic also does not work as invariably more people are having the cell phones on hand and the child would recollect his phone immediately through adamant attitude. As far as possible the parents should not use the cell phones in front of the child otherwise they have to part with the phones over the years to come.

This response being posted after the corona lock down has been eased across the country and the schools remain shut and the academic year is being continued through online education and thus mobile phones has become suddenly important and boon to the children as many schools are conducting online classes and the children need to attend those classes taking notes, understanding the subjects and submitting the notes. All these are now happening through the mobile phones and the children cannot escape the excuse as every parent has the mobile phone and they need to log in for their children classes.

In the today’s modern life, cell phones undoubtedly regarded as one of the most common means of communication that have given a great impact to the mankind ‘s life in first hand. Young generation nowadays have used cell phones like an indispensible commodity that goes along with them in any pace of life , even at schools or in classrooms. Although cell phones bring everyone many benefits and conveniences, a student using cell phones in secondary and high school is unacceptable for some following reasons.

The initial important reason of not allowing students using cell phones at school is to avoid the cheating situation in exam. If cell phone use is allowed during class, it will be difficult for teachers to control and catch students who are texting each other or copying the answers of others during the tests and final exams through cell phones accessed to Internet. Furthermore, cell phone use in class can make students be lazy in brainstorming and making use of creativity in the case they deal with difficult problems.

As a result, cell phone use in class should be banned and early prevented at school effectively. The second noticeable reason is that cell phone use can make students fall in the state of distraction in studying. Obviously, cell phone use during class impact detrimentally on student’s process of attention and level of contribution, many teenagers suffer from permanent partial attention disorder, which is a habit of paying only partial attention to their schoolwork, while devoting half of their attention, typically, to social networking sites or instant massaging.

The final vital reason is cell phones easily to be student‘s weapon to kill themselves at school. School environment is a safe and healthy place, however, students are in the changing period of both mentality and physicality, sometimes due to small problems they easily take action without thinking carefully, such as fighting, gathering into small gangs, bullying each other. Students often use cell phones to call the assistance of outside when they are getting into fights, then lead to the serious effects later. School administrators are difficult to control the order of school if this problem happens.

Therefore, not allowing using cell phones at school are going to avoid the order of school in danger. In conclusion, everything always has two sides of it, not excepting cell phones a sort of useful tool, importantly, we should know take use of its advantages effectively. “ As long as you have a cell phone you are never alone.”

                                                                       ( Stanley Victor Paskavich)

Mobile phones have made our lives much easier and convenient.  There are number of benefits of mobile phones in educational fields.  They are a major way of enhancing knowledge.  Mobile phones have improved learning outcomes and are easier way to keep students in touch with the changing world.  Students no longer have to wait until the class time.  With mobile internet enabled devices they can check the stuff.  In this way learning never stops inside and outside of the schools.  Mobile phones have been helpful for the students and teachers in lockdown during the COVID-19.  Students took online classes during the pandemics.  In this way students were able to continue studies with the help of mobile phones.

“Mobile phones are misnamed.  They should be called gateways to the human knowledge”

Mobile phones enable users to buy and sell things online.  There is no need to visit markets to buy products.  You can get all the necessaries while sitting at home.  You can pay bills in just minutes.  Mobile phones are being used to work remotely.  In the time of pandemic COVID-19 most of the companies and offices held their meetings and activities using mobile phones.

Cell phones are a way of entertainment.  Someone can stop boredom by watching movies, cartoons, sports, playing games etc.

Along with advantages mobile phones bear disadvantages as well.  Mobile phones caused isolation, wastage of time and money, distraction and study loss due to the miss-use.  Mobile phones have damaged the humanity severely.

Although cell phones brought closer the persons far apart but they have also taken away the person nearby.  People became the slaves of their mobile phones.  Mobile phones are damaging the health of the students.  People have become the prisoners of their cell phones.  They have gone too far from the real world.

“We are living in the era where capturing moments using cell phones is more important than actually living these moments with whoever is beside us”

Social media has transformed the traditional way we communicate, share information, and connect with the world around us. However, social media has a dual nature, which we must not neglect.

We all know that social media platforms operate as powerful tools for facilitating global awareness, promoting businesses, and enabling rapid communication during emergencies. Long Speech on Social Media: Bane or Boon

‘I welcome you all present here. Allow me to present myself on Speech on Social Media Bane or Boon. Social Media has become an integral part of our everyday lives. What’s going on around the world can all be figured out in seconds on the social media platforms. But social media is not meant for everyone and not everyone can operate it.

That was just one side of social media, for there is another, which must not be neglected. The increase in fake news, misinformation, and online scams has underscored the need for critical thinking and digital literacy to discern the authenticity of information shared on these platforms.

The addictive nature of social media leads to increased levels of anxiety, depression, and social isolation among users, highlighting the importance of fostering a healthy balance between online engagement and real-life interactions.

Social media’s algorithms create echo chambers, which reinforce our existing beliefs and perspectives while limiting exposure to diverse viewpoints, leading to heightened polarization and a decreased willingness to engage in constructive dialogue and compromise.

At last, the bane and boon of social media must be understood in equal measure to ensure a healthy and responsible digital environment, promote digital literacy, and encourage mindful and balanced use of these platforms.

Sometimes using social media is very simple; we open an application and search for any information or a product. Social media has allowed us to express ourselves, share our stories, and engage in meaningful dialogues.

There is no doubt that social media has democratized the flow of information, allowing marginalized communities to voice their concerns, advocate for social justice, and catalyze movements for positive change.

Social media platforms have transformed the dynamics of business and marketing, providing organizations with an unprecedented opportunity to reach a vast audience and promote their products and services.

Mobile Phones Boon or Bane?

Introduced in the nineties the bulky box was a rich man’s delight. In less than ten years, it became every man’s pocket item, irrespective of one’s socio-economic status. From a premium segment item, it became everyone’s necessity and prices got slashed to unimaginable levels. With time, the mobile phones underwent many transformations. At an alarming speed, they shrunk in size to pocket-sized wonders and equally soon, their utility diversified.

Primarily used for simple telephonic conversations in case of emergency or urgency, mobile phones were used for sending text messages, playing games, for internet browsing, etc.

The mobile phones of today are gizmos that perform multiple functions. They can send text messages, send and receive videos,

be used for accessing e-books, aid in direction or route finding, click pictures, and are used for a host of other functions. In India, almost everyone everywhere seems to have a mobile phone. The vegetable vendor, the bus conductor, students, the office goers, almost everybody irrespective of economic status has a cell phone. This by little midget has taken the world b storm. Every where – malls, metro, buses, etc., one is swarmed by people glued to their cell phones.

Indeed, the myriad uses of this little box have eased life manifold and brought a revolution in the world. Through text applications like whatsapp, we chat, etc., one can connect with anyone in any part of the world. The craze among teenagers and youngsters to get hold of the latest model of this magical device is immense.

However, this little device of wonder has had many unfavourable repercussions as well. The invention and addition of all the advanced features have led to excessive use of it and complicated life. At homes, all members are most engaged in their phones and interact less with others.

It also drifts students away from studies as almost all the time they are glued to their phones and devote less time to their books. This negatively affects their performance in schools and colleges and leads to poor grades. Also, there is a risk of invasion of privacy. People record videos of other people or click their pictures without their knowledge.

The nominal call rates allow spammers to trouble others especially girls with unwanted calls and messages on whatsapp and social media applications and sites. At the same time, advertising through text messages makes one’s cell phone keep beeping all the time and is a nuisance.

In case of emergency, often the network is jammed due to indiscriminate use by all. Students have also been caught storing answers on the cell phone to use during exams.

Lastly, several health risks have also been projected by over use of mobiles like slow brain damage, sleep disorders, reduced productivity, etc.

Thus, with every technology, along with its uses, come misuses and it is the user’s responsibility to strike a balance and use it with caution. One must not forget that human is the master of technology and not its slave.

Technology can be good in many ways but sometimes it can be bad when you don’t use in a right way. The purpose of this paper is to talk about the advantages and disadvantages of technology that change or effects our life in one way or another.

We live in a high tech world, with high tech classrooms. We embrace the benefits of using I pads during class, integrating tweets during presentations, and teaching students while using smart TVs. We know the many benefits of incorporating technology while teaching, such as adding diversity to lessons, increasing student interaction, and to bringing new perspectives and knowledge to the class. Technology can have a large impact on users' mental and physical health. Being overly connected can cause psychological issues such as distraction, narcissism, expectation of instant gratification, and even depression. Besides affecting users' mental health, use of technology can also have negative repercussions on physical health causing vision problems, hearing loss, and neck strain.

COMMUNICATION As per the rapid development of technology, everything has changed their style and shape. However, some changes seem very positive but on the other side, it affects many valuable and intimacy-booster factors negatively. Keeping relationship alive with people through electronic means is not as much effective as the real face to face interaction is, because face to face communication will enable you to get more as compare to being engaged in wireless communication. Thus, the upcoming discussion will reveal all the shortcomings of technologies that affect communication pessimistically. It's well-known that communication plays a vital role in human being society because maintaining the relationship with family members, peers, relatives, and with all those who are close to us and touches our lives in one way or another is indispensable. Simply if we observe people in our community nearly half of them have access to some sort of technological means such as Smartphone, computers, tablets, iPods, and much more types of devices to use it for stable contacts instead of visiting and communicating closely and physically. According to Larry Rosen, virtual communication is not commendable like real world interactions. To see the enrichment and ubiquity of technological devices we are obliged to interact more with virtual friends than real-world people. As addiction, communication through electronic means takes more time than real-world communication even we know that it keep us in distance while not perceiving each other closely and intimately, despite of this, still publics; especially younger generations are using technological sources for communication and messages. And if we keep such a way of communication constant it will not let us interact personally. One study, conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation, found people ages 8 to 18 spent more time on media than on any other activity – at an average of 7.5 hours a day (Rideout, Foehr, & Roberts, 2010). It would have been a very good thing that people had considered physically existed communication essential and important. If they were aware that how much the real world communication is useful that may not have been engaged as much in non-natural ways of communication as they currently are. In 2010, a study proved that as internet use increased, time spent with family and friends decreased while 39% of Americans spend more time socializing online than face-to-face (Brown 2013). We may think as we are social by using electronic means for keeping relationship but according to Sherry Turkle psychologist: not engaging in real world communication is just a sip of communication because we cannot get comprehensive results from the virtual exchange of information.

Ronald Jean Degen

Joseph Schumpeter was concerned about the social consequences of entrepreneurs and creative destruction. However, he did not foresee the profound changes that creative destruction brought about in our lives, how each new technology that obsoleted another changed our lives. Marchal McLuhan explained how each new technology as an extension of ourselves impacts our lives. Using McLuhan's law of media, we analyze the impact of technology on our lives. Some of the technologies available today, like TV, search engines (SE), and smartphones, have profoundly impacted our lives, enhancing our capabilities to the point that we cannot imagine life without these technologies. However, these technologies also obsolete some vital human capabilities of our brains, which has severe consequences for the future of humanity, mainly because of the negative effect on the formation of new generations.
