Of the bonuses that can be activated through the Lucky Wishes Timed Research, the one that grants double catch Stardust is perhaps the most-obvious choice. That said, there are certainly reasons to go with the Hatching Eggs path (the Level 50 Challenge) and the Using Adventure Incense Path (the Galarian Legendary Birds ), and players should consider their options carefully upon completing Step 1.

With respect to the tasks, the vast majority of them are very simple to complete. It is officially the new year, with Pokémon Go ushering in its second big event of 2023 to help celebrate the Lunar New Year.

Running from Jan. 19 to 23, players will see a number of familiar faces appearing more frequently, with plenty of event bonuses and Shiny Pokémon to chase after. That includes boosted chances at encountering a Shiny Darumaka throughout the enter Lunar New Year 2023 event, too.

You won’t be running into any new Pokémon this time, but Darumaka, Buneary, Fennekin, Bunnelby, and even Flareon will be appearing in the wild—some of which fit the Lunar New Year of the Rabbit theme. Meanwhile, Blaziken, Diggersby, Regice, and Mega Lopunny headline the raid rotation this time.

From Thursday, 19 January at 10 AM local time to Monday, 23 January at 8 PM local time, the Lunar New Year event's exclusive Timed Research: Lucky Wishes offers branching paths with particular tasks and rewards for each. The Pokemon GO Lucky Wishes Timed Research paths come in two stages. The first is exactly the same for whichever path you plan to take, presenting you with the following three initial tasks and rewards:

Catch 5 Pokemon - rewards with 15 x Pokeball
Spin 3 PokeStops or Gyms - rewards with 10 x Great Ball
Power up Pokemon 5 times - rewards with 2 x Silver Pinap Berry

Completing the first stage will also reward you with 500 x Stardust, 500 XP, and 1 x Lucky Egg.

After completing the three tasks, you'll be then told to one choose of three Pokemon GO Lucky Wishes Timed Research paths for the second stage. Each path has the following perk for the rest of the Lunar Year 2023 event:

Lucky Wishes is a timed research quest running throughout the Lunar New Year 2023 event in Pokémon Go, which will be available until Monday, 23rd January at 8pm (local time) . So, if you want to earn this quest’s bonuses and rewards, make sure you complete it before this date.

Lucky Wishes is also a branched research quest, which means, depending on the path you take through the quest, some of the rewards and special bonus you earn from the quest will be different to other players.

There are three paths you can take through the Lucky Wishes quests and each grants you an additional bonus until the Lunar New Year 2023 event ends - one is related to the duration of Daily Adventure Incense , another to collecting Stardust and, finally, hatching Eggs .

There’s a selection of bonuses running throughout the Lunar New Year 2023 event in Pokémon until it’s end on Monday, 23rd January at 8pm (local time) .

The first is that there’s an increased chance of receiving Lucky Pokémon in trades, including an increased chance of becoming Lucky Friends with someone, throughout the event. Every player also receives an additional Special Trade every day, which means, during the Lunar New Year 2023 event, you can make two Special Trades per day.

Outside of trading, opening Gifts will give you double Stardust and there’s an increased chance of encountering shiny Darumaka.

Don’t forget about the bonuses you can receive from the Lucky Wishes timed research quest either! Depending on your choice, completing this quest can give you a bonus related to hatching eggs , gathering Stardust or the duration of Daily Adventure Incense for the rest of the event.

To celebrate Lunar New Year, Pokémon Go is running an event filled with red Pokémon and Pokémon with rabbit-like traits from Jan. 19-23 .

Throughout the event, players will be able to do two Special Trades per day. The chance to become Lucky Friends and get Lucky Pokémon via trade will also be increased.

Pokémon Go Mega Lopunny weakness, counters, and best moveset

In addition, players will also get doubled Stardust from gifts, and Darumaka’s shiny rate will be increased.

Shiny Darumaka and Darmanitan in Pokémon Go. Shiny Darumaka is a lighter pink and Shiny Darmanitan is a darker red. Zen Darmanitan is a darker blue.

The event also contains a bunch of quests you can complete to collect some rewards with both Field Research Tasks and a Timed Research being available. The latter includes different paths that provide you with a bonus for the duration of the event based on your choice.

This Timed Research called Lucky Wishes is available from January 19, 2023, at 10am local time to January 23, 2023, at 8pm local time. It consists of two steps and you can choose from three different paths with differing quests and rewards after the first step.

Which of these bonuses should you choose? If you’re working on a bunch of 12km or 10km Eggs at the moment, opting for the 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance is not a bad call. Most of the time, though, Double Stardust for catching Pokémon is the best of these choices. You need this resource for a lot of things in Pokémon Go, such as powering up Pokémon or paying for trades – you can never have enough Stardust.
