You ready to kick stART your art? With SDOC’s Summer Arts Intensive Program, you can indulge yourself in all types of art forms, not just your own.
So, what is stART? This program is all about improving your art and taking it to the next level. Gabriella River, OCSA graduate of 2022, stated “This program has certainly changed my life for the better and has taught me so much about being not only an artist, but a proper, well-rounded, human being.” By the end of the two-week program, students will have gone through classes such as dance, acting, poetry, and more!
The staff is made up of six Osceola County instructors along with professional artists from schools like Juilliard, Indiana University, UCF, University of North Carolina, and Oberlin College.
Each year, the 150 students who are accepted are split into 5 groups. Each group has a class at the end of the day where they collaborate and work together in putting on a performance following a theme. This year’s theme is “Do You Believe in Magic,” partly because we are working on Walt Disney World’s Imagination Campus, and partly because that is what stART is all about.
So how do you sign up? First, you need to sign up to audition at startosceola.org for one of the following majors: drama, dance, creative writing, instrumental music, technical theater, visual arts, or vocal music. Then once you’ve signed up, you need to attend the drop-in audition at Osceola Arts (2411 E Irlo Bornson Memorial Highway) on April 3rd from 3-8 Pm. Those auditioning for dance, drama, instrumental music, and vocal music need to audition in person. While those auditioning for Creative Writing, Technical Theater, and Visual Arts must submit a virtual portfolio.
Students who auditioned will learn of their acceptance status on April 7th. If accepted, students will have to pay a small fee for breakfast and lunch, but they get to spend two weeks at OCSA’s campus from 9 am-5 pm, from June 12-23 improving their artistic abilities. Included with the acceptance, students get a free admission to Walt Disney World on June 26th.
Again, more audition information can be found at startosceola.org, but there are limited spots available, so make sure to sign up quick!

Summer programs are a good way to explore your interests and expand your abilities. This page includes links to a wide variety of programs. With the exception of the Dragon Kim Fellowship Program, OCSA does not necessarily endorse any of these programs, but simply offers them as a resource for you.
