Abstract — This document presents the design and development of an integrated library management system based on the needs assessment conducted in response to technology, infrastructure, existing condition, facilities, technology readiness of human resources, automation sufficiency level, and support of technical staff among ninety-eight (98) respondents using the descriptive developmental method.

Developing a system based on research is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the system. This approach addresses specific problems or challenges by incorporating evidence-based practices and the latest advancements in the field.

The findings include the need to mentor the respondents on how to use technology and the influence of others as a factor in using technology. There is a difficulty encountered in navigating schools’ virtual libraries, unavailability of materials, and visiting it is not enticing anymore since information is available from the internet. The rarity of introducing new technology and the absence of 3D printers are common pain points. However, improvements on the library website, email/chat with a librarian, online research guides, online book reservations, and book delivery service were noticed. Research gaps and recommendations from the selected Library Management System were also employed as additional input in the development of the system. A deeper understanding of the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Robotics, and Embedded Systems through training, webinars, and workshops are necessary for the librarian. These technologies could be applied in library operations and transactions. Procurement of the latest equipment which includes 3D printers and the development of integrated library systems are steps to take to improve the library's services and operation. By combining the results of assessments and incorporating new knowledge derived from research gaps and recommendations, provided a stronger foundation for the system. It also provides validation and grounding in scientific principles, ensuring that the system is well-informed and effective in its implementation. Ultimately, developing a system based on research leads to more informed and effective solutions to pain points and challenges.

The advent of diverse information technology systems has revolutionized the way of doing things. A majority of business solutions are automated to meet the changing needs of the end users. Information systems have proved to be effective in implementing the business processes of most organizations and institutions across the globe. Library Book Management System is an online application that was developed and designed with the sole objective of automating library services. The system was intended to address the current problems experienced in Narok county libraries, with an emphasis on Maasai Mara University library which has not fully automated its services. This system aimed at automating the processes of cataloging, book circulation, fine calculation, card processing, member details maintenance, and reports generation. A number of tools were used to implement this system. They include: PHP scripting language, HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery library, Cascading Style Sheets, MySQL 5.3 database running on Wamp Server, Bootstrap, Microsoft Visio 2010, Microsoft Project 2007, Microsoft Office 2010, Adobe Dreamweaver CS6, and Adobe Photoshop CS4. In reference to this system’s objectives, a fully automated library book management system was developed using the aforementioned tools. The system’s performance meets user’s requirements, hence providing the main benefit of concentrating all the library services and functions within the power of a mouse click and feeding of data into the system.

In the era of modernization, everything is accomplished or thought to be accessed through internet so that do not need to waste time and face any inconvenience. Using internet, the democratization of knowledge has been easier. The concept of sharing knowledge is centralized in a digital library, which plays a vital role in the dissemination of knowledge and spiritual civilization. The level of maintaining a library is closely related to the quality of teaching in Universities. With the increasing of number of students in Universities, maintaining a library using the old management methods is too much complex and time consuming and hardly possible to adapt to the development of times. To overcome this situation appeared in most of the middle level countries like Bangladesh, authors develop an automated digital library management system. The main features of this software are user interactive graphical representation (using bar diagram and pie chart) of the total number of books requested, books uploaded, yearly books count etc. Besides, notifications and reports are viewed instantly for corresponding users. Another thing is that using this software, user could find out books searching by any one of these: title, author's name, subject, publication, series, ISBN/ISSN, etc. That is, the developed automated library management software would meet the needs of the growing students and teachers demand.

The focus of any educational institution is the content and services of the university library. The mission of the library is to obtain, organize, preserve and update the information with the greatest possible accuracy, minimum effort and time. This requires automation of the library's operations. This paper presents a software application for managing the activity of the territorial "Vasile Goldiş" West University library. The application is developed using Visual Basic for Application programming language and using the database management system Microsoft Access 2010. The goal of this application is to optimize the inner workings of local library and to meet the requests of the institution and of the readers.

Explain the quality factors of a generic library system of any university. The whole assignment is divided into three phases. First phase describe the introductive scope of the system and it also describes the quality factors essential for the successful of this system. In second phase describe how and when this factor gets measured. The third phase elaborates the cost of measurement of such factors. The library system of computer science department of the LCWU (Lahore Collage for Women University) has been using the manual system for handling different activities of library. Due to many problems facing with this existing library system, we will make a library management system that can produce automated online system for managing the activities of library system. It is totally secured system that can be accessed only by the verified user putting user name and password procedure. To mitigate the issues of conventional and manual method of reservation and distribution of books to readers from library, the online Library Management System will be created. The Library Management System is a web-based online system for assisting both the students/teachers and library/staff in borrowing and supervising books. The system will provide fundamental set of features for adding and updating members, adding and updating books, getting list of books, finding out list of books currently checked out, reserving and borrowing books. Its development will include formation and maintenance of back end database with MySQL and Front-end application development aspects with PHP. After this systematically analyze, we have concluded that new proposed system will provide efficient opportunities to the students and the librarian.

Library is a fast growing sector. The existing system for maintaining library transactions is not very efficient. For quick retrieval and storage of data is required. An appropriately computerized library will help its users with quick and prompt services. Library automation refers to mechanization of library housekeeping operations largely by computerization. Library Management System (LMS) is an automated system that can be useful to Librarians and the users of a library in any functional organization. Library Management System gives the facility to define the tasks of the librarians and also allows its users to manage their activities to and from the library. A report generation facility is supported in LMS that allow its users to keep an account of their transactions in the library. This tool can help librarians to effectively save time and carry out other important works of the library rather than just looking out after the issuing and returning. This project aims at creation of a Library Log. This project will be accessible to all users of the library and its facility allows librarians to maintain a hassle free database while letting its users to themselves manage their own transactions individually thereby solving all major issues of having a huge database in the form of hard material.

Although this system provides electronic documents like books, magazines, newspapers, and other useful files that can give access for the users without any restrictions and help librarians keep track of library information. Designing a computerized library management system (LMS) that would support to evacuate the problem encountered in the manual library. The physical library has many limitations to satisfy user's needs, and most hard copy documents are damaged after a limited time of usage. To eliminate the paperwork in the library, to reduce the high demand for the cost of books, and to avoid problems for missing files, we introduce a web-based LMS in ACCE. This will provide services for the entire citizens of the country in a different format without limitation of the period. The objectives of this research are to develop a system that can handle and manage the actions involved in the ACCE library efficiently and reliably which can be a benefit for the entire users to get access at their convenient time. To overcome the above-mentioned limitations of the physical library, we are implementing this new technology to promote digital reading habits for users and to advance the knowledge of the users in every aspect of the technology. The users of ACCE Library have diverse age groups and professions. They require different kinds of documents for different purposes, like research studies, educational purposes, general knowledge, and for recreation. The Web-based Digital Library Management System (DLMS) will help to create a limitless amount of digital information and make it accessible to the world in parallel. This system planned to obtain research resources for the ACCE and then distribute it to users in their remote areas. The design parameters are Java Programming language, PHP, HTML, and Database MYSQL. Based on the challenges identified appropriate recommendations are prepared to improve the manual library services. Management system treaties with data entry, validation, and updates while the interactive system deals with system interaction with the users.
