Assignments. The assignments in this course are openly licensed, and are available as-is, or can be modified to suit your students’ needs. If you import this course into your learning management system (Blackboard, Canvas, etc.), the assignments will automatically be loaded into the assignment tool.
In the first module of the course, we introduce retail management as an industry and field of study. For this assignment, you are going to work with a small group to discuss challenges that you may face in retail management.
Assignment: Retail Image. Imagine you are opening your own brick and mortar store. In doing so, there are a lot of things to take into consideration: The name of your store. The type of merchandise you will stock. The lighting you will install and why. The furniture and fixtures you will utilize. The store layout you will use.
Part 1. For this assignment, your task will be to interview somebody who is currently working in the retail industry. You might also choose somebody who has retired from the retail field. You can meet them in person or you might want to set up a time to talk on the phone.
Write a short essay (400 words minimum) outlining your reasoning for the price you choose. Be sure to include the specifics of production, distribution, and marketing. And the calculated profit for the selling such a product and why. Be sure to identify your target market (and why) as well.
11.12: Assignment- Merchandise Management. Page ID. Your task is to physically observe a retail environment in person—this may be done alone, or in partnership groups of two or three. So, pick a partner (or not!) and make a plan.
